I am torn between getting an Xi or a Skytrak. I will mostly be using it with students in our First Tee program, letting them see their distances as well as having something to use during the winter indoors and when raining. We currently have a gymnasium that we have a cage set up in. Do I really need spin rate numbers?

Curious about the lag issue as well. Would seem to be measurable with both running through an iPad. I'm seeing 5 second delays with ST through an iPad Air. I wonder if it's the same or better on the same device through an Xi?
I think we'll clearly see this problem addressed somehow when they both do their Sim integration via PC. I hope that's the case, at least.

That's 3-4 seconds through a PC, I assume, and not shabby. What type//spec is your PC and Internet connection?
My own ST ball pickups improved today with a much lower failure rate. The latency is actually running closer to 6-7 seconds for me though.
This is the one issue that I feel is a possible blocker to ST. through an iPad. Sub 4 seconds should be the performance target across most iOS devices.
Hence, the curiosity around Flightscope's lag times. Hopefully, that will get posted.

Delay on my Samsung Tab 4 when using the Skills App is about 1-1.5 secs. It's not noticeable.
The delay when using E6 with the Xi is about 2-2.5 secs. A little more noticeable but I'm actually OK with it, and I'm coming from the instant display Protee had. It's not ideal, but I can't really control it. Gives me a chance to stop my ball from rolling past me.
Chips under 12' carry will not register and no putting, without some kind of Trugolf add-on, which there is currently no integration. Trackman is working through a similar solution with Trugolf's sensor pad for short chips and putting I believe.

That seems really good, impressive actually. That's near enough to real time to be almost insignificant.
I think that this part of the product evaluation is just as important, if not more, than the data sets we all get caught up comparing. For me, More or less, ball trajectory becomes a proxy for data output...and as much as I'd like AoA, path, face....near real time ball flight is the measure I need. I can jump on a golf store's (Trackman by the 1/2 hour rental) LM when I want to take a look at the other data.
I suppose we'll be able to compare ST rendering performance across native Android, iOS, and PC class devices in the future, but this Flightscope data is pretty revealing in the Flightscope vs ST comparison. Thanks for sharing it!

TGC version 2.4 and higher will have an option to skip short chips and putting as an adjustable gimme upto 15 yards. We build this in specially for radar based units that do not support short chips and puttingOriginally posted by goatbarn View PostChips under 12' carry will not register and no putting, without some kind of Trugolf add-on, which there is currently no integration. Has any one carried out a side by side comparison between skytrak or gc2 and flightscope xi to compare data / accuracy. Personally i would love to see a indoors comparison. Im leaning towards the flightscope. But i have a few niggling doubts
1. Flightscope where invited by mygolf spy to provide a unit for direct comparison between similar or less priced laugh monitors (inc skytrak) and flightscope.
2. Indoors acuracy of xi
3. A post by zmax asking which he would buy (same question) , his answer, neither I would wait

I compared an Xi to a SkyTrak indoors. Skytrak had version 1.8 so there was some discrepancy on long irons but 8i and below were very close to each other. SkyTrak had a higher percentage of "missed shots" or swings where data was recorded. It was impossible to get both units perfectly aligned so that well struck "straight" shots both were the same but obvious pull hooks and push slices were tracked similarly. Xi Skills App was pretty much useless to me as I wanted to be able to compare a group of shots together. SkyTrak has this feature but never tried using it outdoors. Neither unit fit my requirements exactly so I sent both back. Skytrak gave me a full reimbursement after as I only used it for 1 week. Flightscope made the return process a bit more painful and also took a 10% restocking fee.
