I got FSX 2018 yesterday. I am very new to FSX, but I can say for sure the graphics difference from FSX to FSX 2018 is huge. I was not impressed with the graphics in the old version. I even own the expensive courses, and the graphics were marginal. FSX 2018 is a huge difference in the graphics quality! I would say the included courses graphics are about as good as TGC, and the expensive courses look even better than TGC. I am extremely impressed with the graphics quality with FSX 2018. I have not spent enough time to tell you about other features added or upgraded.

Well guys I have to say I’ve changed my views on this I had a long discussion with my Canadian rep and he informed me this is only the beginning the graphics are upgraded there will be several module additions including a new app with new features coming as a part of fsx 2018 .... and he agreed the putting module is not really something the average user would purchase ... myself anyway ... and foresight does not charge an annual fee like trackman and I think that’s a great point and software development isn’t cheap .... I don’t have an issue with the upgrade fee from our conversation I beleive what he told me and they do value their customers....

Can you advise why fsx plays more realistic than TGC? Thanks!!Originally posted by Andyman33 View Posti agree that it looks better than tgc - plus I think the "game" plays more realistic on fsx than tgc. with that being said, what do some other courses look like? torrey pines is a popular one...any updates in graphics on the "old" courses?

If I were to guess it would have to be around the greens. TGC always shows my shots true to what my GC2 reads flight wise. Maybe the chipping and reaction to the ball on the greens is better?

I have both and I don't get it either. One thing people have said is that TGC over reads side spin meaning the ball will curve more. I don't see that either. There are some guys that say TGC is garbage. I guess that's their option. I love it.

True that software development is not cheep but FSX 3.0 (2017) was one of the most expensive software bundles out there when I bought it with my qcguad. I really feel that for those of us that dealt with really a sub par beta FSX version they should st least upgrade us to 2018 for free not another $500. I’ve emailed and called them several times and gotten zero response.

Afterall Tesla sells the same promise with its 100k cars but then upgrades the beta features to working features all the time, years later in some cases, none less. It explains while being a very beta car company they have some of the best brand loyalty out there. Foresight could take a page from that playbook IMO.

Google image of #7 to compare to FSX and TGC. I like that they got the mountains in the background. Ordered fsx18 yesterday and should have this week. Don't feel great about the cost but looking forward to seeing the improvements.1 Photo

By adding it to the Shop upgrade along with the Premium courses and other games (Roulette & Zombies) it pretty much guarantees that there will be no bargaining or discounts for loyal customers. Very corny and tasteless approach! I hope my rep adds at least 2-3 courses if this is what I have pay for the update. Why can't you buy the regular courses in the shop like this.........oh probably because no one would ever pay $150 for Akron (really bad rendition) or 90% of the other courses, and they know you can talk to a rep and get a discount. I hope Foresight makes this right!

Ok, the graphics have been beaten to death. Are there actually any "promised" features in this initial FSX2018 release? Are there any new ball cam views? Are the camera tools there? Putting/Fridge sliders? What are we paying for with this initial release? Promises for March or is there actually something there besides putting analysis?

Looks like if you bought FSX in 2018 it's a free upgrade, but that doesn't help me at all. FSX is ok in all I hate the speed of the putting - I want to know also if there going add sliders for putting speed and chipping for course play.
You know FSX has been out awhile and they really didn't seem to put any effort in to make it better, parts of UI seemed very unpolished, not sure about anything really getting better in FSX2018. $500 more seems like a lot after the initial purchase price. They make good hardware not so sure they make good software but will see if that changes for FSX1018 I have my doubtsLast edited by Mxwoodman; 02-22-2018, 07:02 PM.

I email some questions today
Are the textures that resemble an oil spill on Teton pines fixed?
Or the grass/weeds that act like a brick wall and send your ball backwards fixed?
Or my favorite the reeds in the water that your ball can land on and be playable from with no penalty?
The fact my GC2 doesnt auto connect ever
On screen ball find doesnt work
The FSX software crashes at the main screen 50% of the time I start it up
The odd scoring that doesnt match up on the website (shoot a high score but show something like 7 birdies?)
See if i hear anything. I was ignored on my last two email to foresight last year.

Well I got a response that-
"Yes, those issues have been resolved in your FSX license as long as you are running with the proper computer. FSX will continue to receive software updates if issues arise. I apologize if you are unhappy with the product, it is very unusual, most of our clients feel differently."
So now my pc is the reason the ball bounces backwards 100 yards for a stalk of grass.... Lol. Also funny how I just played 2 days ago with all these fixed issues still happening.

I am looking to update to the FSX2018 but like most of you, not too pleased about the cost. I looked at the operating requirements and it said the video card should be the NVidia GeForce 1050ti or greater. I am using the GeForce GTX970. I called Foresight and talked to a technician and was told that would probably be ok but all of their testing was with the 1050ti. I looked online and saw that the 970 was a better video card. I don't want to spend the extra money for a new video card but I also don't want to buy this update and not have it work with my system. I don't have any knowledge about video cards so if anyone knows, I would greatly appreciate the hhelp
