I got FSX 2018 yesterday. I am very new to FSX, but I can say for sure the graphics difference from FSX to FSX 2018 is huge. I was not impressed with the graphics in the old version. I even own the expensive courses, and the graphics were marginal. FSX 2018 is a huge difference in the graphics quality! I would say the included courses graphics are about as good as TGC, and the expensive courses look even better than TGC. I am extremely impressed with the graphics quality with FSX 2018. I have not spent enough time to tell you about other features added or upgraded.

I know what the promised features are. I wonder what is actually in this release. The new UI is NOT there so what else is missing. Only someone with this update can tell us. I won't trust what Foresight is saying at this point. We were told FSX wasn't going to have upgrade fees yet here we are. Why should I trust what features are actually in this upgrade when people are posting images that clearly show that there is not UI interface. Get what I'm saying?

But you’re (we’re not upgrading). We’re being given a discount on a re-branded/re-vamped product. God, I’d hate to see the retail price for those poor suckers who aren’t/weren’t prior FSX owners. ... wait; now renters?!? I’m so confused!

I understand what your saying just not sure if I'm willing to invest in FS anymore I don't trust them, I don't have a bunch of courses, I had FR1 and 1 course pack, I upgraded to FSX and they let me pick the 10 courses I wanted to replace the courses I bought for FR1 - I think that was great. It really seems like the way they rolled out FSX - betaware if it's that at best, it took years to make it usable for me, the software has issues, bugs, workflow issues, etc. still today. Then now there is FSX 2018 with all this new great stuff, but people have it and the UI is the same, courses look about the same not much better and again all the stuff they say will be there - is not there (I'm just guessing since I don't have it). Give them $500 and someday they'll have all these new great things (maybe) if they can actually pull it off. I don't get how this is the right way to build and sell software.

Par2pro posted a little overview video
seems like a new background image and just basic quality of life fixes

I love the par2pro guys but not sure they helped the FSX2018 crapware cause
Wow I don't see anything different than the FSX I use, expect the start screen background, wow this is starting to really piss me off.
It seems like a money grab for nothing maybe they need the cash flow to do a transaction oh well I guess it's time to cut the losses bad bad greedy FS

Thanks for the video Ryan5508.
I agree with you, the changes are so minimal that I just can't see how this should be anything but an update to existing FSX for free. It's just bush league to charge what they're charging for what should be an update to the existing FSX. Sure, some of the improvements are items that I can appreciate (double monitors being #1), but none that warrant an effective brand new version of the software.
Ughh!

Ughh is right! WTH? This is FSX. I don't see a damn bit of difference with graphics at all. Oh wait, looks like a higher res image on the home screen....cool? The ability to connect via the menu, which should have been there all along, is nice but this looks more like a final 3.5 than v4. I am curios why I didn't have to pay an upgrade fee going from 2.4 to 3.5 since that was a whole version update but now going form 3.5 to 4.0 there is a fee?
Between my Rep not responding to me and literately no changes that warrant an upgrade feel I'll pass for now. You should all ask yourself why is Foresight trying to collect an upgrade fee before they actually release the upgraded version? I mean come on! If the new version was ready you would be getting it with the purchase, not a promise for March 2018. I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if the March turns into May or later. If they do release in March just how buggy is this software going to be?
Not cool Foresight Sports, not cool at all!!!!!
Oh, and let's not forget their track record with FSX. Lots of promises and never really delivering. I will say that the current FSX is the best to date but I paid how much and I had to wait how long to get there? Simple fixes, quality of life fixes, could have made it so much better with very little effort or expense. I fear FSX2018 is just going to be more of the same.....
My advise, WAIT just WAIT

This is why I sold so many of the courses I purchased! I kept on waiting and waiting for it to get better since 2014 and it took 2 plus years to get where it is at today and that is not something to brag about. Software is just not their focus and it is sad that they are passing of the R&D expenses for the Quad and Hawk on the FSX users. The only way they should charge $500 is if they scrapped the whole engine and started new. Doesn't look like they changed much on the new engine at all!!!!! mthunt is right, they do this simply because they can. There LM's are incredible, so why not squeeze every penny out of all customers

I think these “big players” know their times-a-comin’. Skytrak is paving the way to affordability. The tech is only going to get better, and no doubt cheaper. ST has shown the industry there’s a market for affordable personal launch monitors. It’s a money grab. I’m thankful we have other options with the GC2. The greed’ll get em eventually, or they’ll be forced to compete to stay in the business. We’ll see which path they choose...
Don’t get me wrong, they can maintain their elitist business model and continue to cater to the pros, but the fact that they upcharge on everything tells that the “pro” market isn’t incredibly lucrative.
if they ignore a virtually untapped, burgeoning market? Shame on them! And that starts with taking care of their existing customers.

Yeah, bit the bullet. Haven’t had a chance to go through it much tonight yet but graphics are sharper, colors are much more vivid especially at the 8am setting on pebble course. Finally feels more emersive where fr1 & fsx basic courses always lacked any realism. In game feature to connect to Bluetooth is handy but FR1 had it so not sure why it’s just now back. Green speed slider is nice. Feels like a really nice update though, not really a quantum leap. If I was just now buying FSX I can say I’d be happy with the purchase. Very happy with it now, cost aside.

This is one of the two fixes / requests out of about 20 that I reported / asked for that has actually been implemented!Originally posted by brock View PostIn game feature to connect to Bluetooth is handy but FR1 had it so not sure why it’s just now back.
I’ve had a couple of instances where either my GC2 randomly disconnects or runs out of battery mid round. The only way to reconnect is to quit the round, save, reconnect and resume. Unfortunately resuming a game is full of bugs too - so I wanted a way of reconnecting without having to quit. Finally (after about a year!) it’s done.
The other 1 thing they fixed was allowing you to move the minimap to the left hand side. As someone with an offset, the old version meant that the map took up most of the section I hit at!

Glad to hear someone else’s positive experience. I started this thread because I felt the same way. The graphics quality alone was a huge improvement when upgrading. I am looking forward to additional enhancements in the product. It would be interesting to hear from others that have 2018.

Glad to hear you guys are happy with it. Brock, what resolution are your screenshots from? Mine were 4K so I'm wondering if that is why I don't see a huge difference. Is there a new course version download for the Pebble courses that go with 2018 or does the new engine improve the courses across the board? I know the free ones have new downloads.
