I got FSX 2018 yesterday. I am very new to FSX, but I can say for sure the graphics difference from FSX to FSX 2018 is huge. I was not impressed with the graphics in the old version. I even own the expensive courses, and the graphics were marginal. FSX 2018 is a huge difference in the graphics quality! I would say the included courses graphics are about as good as TGC, and the expensive courses look even better than TGC. I am extremely impressed with the graphics quality with FSX 2018. I have not spent enough time to tell you about other features added or upgraded.

I was getting excited, but then realized this is FSX we are talking about. Glad they made some improvements to justify taking $500 early from people, but from the sounds of it, it appears they could have used a couple of more months to refine it. FSX crashing was common upon release, so FSX 2018 crashing is nothing to be surprised about. They love to pat themselves on the back for finally giving you FSX 2018 in mid June. It shows a lot of promise, but this all should have been included in the initial software purchase of $2500. Sorry, just had to rant because it sounds super buggy still and graphically still slightly better than what they rolled out in 2014.

I’ve got lots of complaints about Foresight but this release is much improved in both graphics and visual appeal. There are annoyances like font size really small in some places and drop down menus don’t work great with touchscreen but overall my early feedback is thumbs up.
Don’t forget to update courses to get improved graphics and reboot before doing install. I have had zero crashes. Biggest complaint I have is my GCQuad doesn’t auto connect but it didn’t in older version either.

I just got my setup complete last week, and have been using the older version of FSX since then. Yesterday I installed the update along with the updated courses, and I do like the new UI. The updated courses are noticeably higher quality and overall I think the software is nicer. That said, I can *definitely* relate to some of the things that other people have mentioned regarding things being a little off.
I was very happy about the dual monitor support, but things are a bit weird in how it is implemented. For example, I have my projector set to be the main with my flat screen set as secondary. I'd like to keep analysis on the secondary and course view on main, which the settings do indicate. After each shot, the analysis does in fact show up on the secondary, which is great, however it disappears after the configured 5 seconds. Unless I am missing it, there should be an option for the analysis to just stay on the secondary as it is a pain to keep having to bring it up manually. Once it is up manually, it stays, but still..
Others have mentioned the garbled font in some interfaces, and I too can confirm this.
Last night I encountered 3-4 crashes, whereas I've only encountered 1 crash in the last week on the older software.
The green grid is broken.. it only shows a grid overlay over the green, there is no indication of slope like in the previous version.
The absolute biggest issue I've noticed though is the choppiness of the behind the ball flight view after you hit a ball. I know that this is a resource intensive thing, flying behind the ball with the landscape scrolling.. I also realize the courses are updated with better quality graphics, and I am very aware that this could be hardware related.. however, I have a ridiculously powerful setup (GTX 1080, i7 7700, 64GB ram, SSD HD) and when the ball is flying there is definitely a noticeable choppiness that was not there in the previous version. Yes, I can set the graphic settings lower and I am sure it would help, but man, what more of a setup could foresight ask for to handle their software? I am hoping that this is addressed in an update. I will, of course, be diligent and ensure that video card drivers are up to date and so on, but I did just check that a few days ago... I'd like to hear if anyone else is noticing this?
Now, all of that complaining I just did aside, I would like to reiterate that I do like the new user interface. I just feel like the software was rushed out the door. I am a software developer, and I get it that sometimes companies need to release and rely on patches to address issues. I just hope that Foresight releases patches to address some of the issues, sooner rather than later. I will say that I am thoroughly enjoying my Quad/FSX setup, even though these issues are present..

Green grid works, but t is tricky. I don’t remember for sure which, but it’s either the keyboard key or the green grid button on the shortcuts. One works and the other does not.
I get the choppiness as well sometimes but not always.
I agree on the data screen staying up (which is does not) and am setup xactly as you are with the main screen being the projector.

I haven't had any crashes so far. The green grid feature they call ball drop(it's in the manual). That is what I was talking about yesterday - I call it slope indicators. I sent them an email on that, waiting to hear back. I do get some glitching when make dual screen changes. I've just restarted the app after getting the screen the way I wanted it and it was fine after that. Since FSX2018 came out I do get some stuttering on the greens. I don't play with a chase camera so haven't noticed any performance issues there. You really can't do much better than that rig so it's likely graphical bugs.
I have my Quad using Ethernet and it connects automatically. With WiFi it doesn't. I would assume USB would connect automatically as well.

I got the email today, and saw the video that Foresight posted on Facebook.
I have a GTX1070 graphics card, and currently have my projector on an HDMI and my monitor on a DVI lead. Ideally I want 2 monitors AND my projector. 1 monitor and projector showing the course, and the other monitor showing data. Is this even possible? I guess I could use an HDMI splitter and use HDMI to the projector and monitor that are showing the same?
FSX used to have 3 different data windows. Swing Cam / Ball Data / HMT Data. Is it possible to get all of this on one screen yet?
I’m going to have to work out the logistics of a second monitor and how to set it up before I go back to Foresight with my $500 upgrade fee!Last edited by p3eps; 06-19-2018, 06:24 PM.

Yes, you could do this with an HDMI splitter just know that those two screens would be the same. You could also ad another video card.
I have two HDMI boxes from Kinovio that work great. I bought this 5 Year’s ago, so I’m sure there’s a newer one out, but the one I have is this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1
It has multiple inputs and two outputs, audio, lets you hook up other devices as inputs as well, which is nice to have.

you won't get FSX data three monitors but you could potentially mirror two and extend one possibly? No idea if that will work.
No you can't get all three at once but you can split across two or it at least you should. They have a few options and you can select display main/secondary/both
ask them if you can get a trial of it to see if it will do what you want. I would think they could do that.

I maybe wasn’t entirely clear with what I want to do.
I currently have 1 monitor and 1 projector - both showing the golf course / driving range.
I want to add a second monitor side by side with my current one. I want IT to show the data.
I want my current setup to remain, and simply add a monitor for data.
It’s a shame that they haven’t evolved the data screens a bit... but the main thing I want is the HMT data, as everything else is quite obvious from the golf course view.
I’ll try asking about a demo, however I can’t see them doing it - even if I have spent a fortune on their products already!!

You can have the course/range on one monitor and the data on your second one, this is how I set mine up yesterday. There are some oddities with the stats showing up on the second monitor after each shot though. After your shot, the stats show up which is great, however it disappears after 5 seconds and you need to re-show it, which is a pain. I don't think they considered the use case of dual monitors properly, but it is a start...

So, the green slop indicators work as long as dual screen is disabled LOL . I'm probably going to run in mirrored mode for a while. Being able to hide the menu bar is pretty nice and you get the info you need from the left panel.

DON'T give them any ideas. They will do just that when they finally have fixes ready for all of the bugs mentioned on this thread. Then hit everyone for another $500 for 2019.Originally posted by vrpunk View PostShould of called it FSX2019 to cover themselves. I lot of industry standard software is already in its 2019 cycle.... I installed FSX2018 update today. Agree the interface is improved, but there are several issues:
1. About 4 crashes tonight
2. Essential putting keeps reverting to full swing mode. Has to be something to do with FSX as it never happens when using the Quad alone.
I was really interested in dual monitor, but if the data/table disappears after 5 seconds, what's the point? I might as well just select the data from the range view each time I want to see data. I can't believe the data views disappear after 5 seconds. I was hoping I could just putt away, maybe with a wireless monitor in my putting studio, and see the new putt data after each putt. Sadly I'd have to go back to the mouse/computer each time I want to see the data...........
Has anyone tried FSX mobile? Maybe the data screens display permanently after each shot without having to manually select?Last edited by Golfmonster2; 06-21-2018, 11:58 AM.

Looks like it will ALWAYS crash if you hit your next shot too soon. Please someone hit a shot sooner than 5 seconds and confirm.
Also, is it just me, or is does it usually not keep your FSX login?

In what situation would you be hitting another ball within 5 seconds? I don't get that...
The only crashes I've had was when I was messing with cameras or playing with dual screen. Once set though the camera have been much better for me. I gave up on dual screen for now. Until they fix the slope indicators with dual screen it is pretty useless for me unless I'm just doing range work. I do want to play with it more when I have some time though.
I've got to say, as I've been recording the courses they look so much better! Lots of little details. I just did Cog Hill and Congressional and they are amazing! I'm slowly getting these up on youtube so you can see for yourselves. Overall for an initial release version this has been quite good. There are some obvious bugs but playing with single screen has been very solid. There seems to be a slight impact on performance but it's tolerable for me. Hopefully, that will improve with some updates.

With dual screen, the range goes right back to the tee as soon as your ball is stopped on my projector view. I was just doing some drills where I didn’t really need to see a whole lot of data other than flight and launch angle. Same club, same shot over and over, nothing to think about but hitting the same way over and over in a drill.

I just updated to FXS2018 a few days ago. So far very pleased from what I have seen and no issues so far. Graphics are a lot better. Calab was my contact person and he was great as always. There are some differences but it appears just a matter of getting used to them. Like I said, so far so good.

If the slope works I can try a few scenarios with dual screen
