  • GC2 GSX & ProTee Inteface Setup for TGC and ProTee 2.0

Follow the steps below and in the next few post to initially connect your GC2 to GSX to ProTee Interface. Enjoy!

1: Connect your Bluetooth adapter to your pc's USB port using a USB extension cable. Run the cable into the sim room where the adapter will be as close to the GC2 as possible or within 6 ft of the GC2. After that, install the Bluetooth adapter driver that came in the package.

2: Turn on the GC2. From the right bottom corner of the Taskbar, click the up arrow to show all hidden icons. Select the Bluetooth icon and select Add Devices. See the screen shots below.

You need to have TGC turned on in GSX and Protee interface. If they are not both on, it won't work. You can have ProTee remote in. They will get it running right away.

GSX and interface look good. Two possible things. Are you using the correct TGC? The Sim version that looks like ProTee colors vs the Steam version with the The TGC red G that looks like a club head. I've made this mistake myself twice as I have both. If that's not it, did you start the server in the simulator software before trying to play? Top middle icon needs to connect to server before being able to actually play. If not that either, then make sure the GSX is set to TGC on like mthunt said. If shot data is coming through, it should only be 1 of those issues. Good luck!

Not sure if this was already covered, but make sure you are using the latest versions of the 3 software. One of the last updates had made it so older protee interfaces would not work with the new TGC. I am not sure if there is a thread with the most up to date versions that we should be using. What versions of each are you running?

Is there a post that addresses Foresight GC2 and Protee/TGC, GSX moving forward? I really desire the simplicity of setup with GC2 and accuracy in the wedges. I am stressed out at how much better the Protee/TGC software seems over FSX. Additionally, the following TGC seems to be gaining kind of implies the support will be there. I think a firmware blockout of the Protee/TGC will be coming. Will users be forced to upgrade firmware to maintain validation with the Foresight? At present date, will a purchase of GC2 work with Protee/TGC?

I guess it's possible for Foresight to change the firmware so that the GC2 will only work with FSX but to change it and still work with the FS1 version would be a little more of a issue since most fitters/stores that use the GC2 might not be in a position to upgrade hardware and software just to maintain some type of validation needed.

A few more things if you upgrade from FS1 to FSX they would like and want you to send back the dongle and it's need to use FS1 and this might be the start of getting the GC2 to only work with FSX and not sure if Foresight is going to do anything about changing to the GC2 to only work with FSX since there still selling the hardware units just minus the software packages.

And I guess can they update the firmware so the older firmware software won't be able to update the firmware with previous versions

Also Foresight in the past was not really targeting the home user sim market and they were focusing on the hardware for professionals and the fitting software so not even sure they would put the effort into making the GC2 only work with FSX.

So a quick question. I currently have a full ProTee set up, with sensor mat and cameras, but just can't get it to work right. I am thinking of getting a GC2. As I already have the ProTee Interface, and TGC software, do I only need the GC2 and GSX software to get this set up working? Any advice on the model number for the GC2, as I will be looking for a used one. Thanks in advance.

Yes, just gsx to read data from gc2.

As far gc2 goes, The newer gc2a is bluetooth apple compatible - the older gc2 unit is not. They also have a gc2-t which looks like a tee marker but this one has no battery and no display so its meant to be used with software. If i were gettting one used i would look for gc2a but the older one works just as well just no connectivity to the foresight ios app.

I upgraded from fss to fsx and they never asked for my fss dongle - now have two dongles (love that word).

I still use the old software often.

JS... Just curious why you still use the old software!

                      JV, just noticed you commented.

I use fss range still because it runs with very little impact on my system even if i run fss on my primary monitor while tgc is running on my projector. Cant do this with FSX. Fsx is also missing chase ball cam and still has some weird graphic bugs at times. I like to practice while hitting on tgc projection and having all the multi shot data available via fss.

Are you still using the same sliders in GSX? Penalties 0, clubs 2, putting 13, and putting forgiveness 2. I ask because it seems there is no penalty out of a bunker. Ball flies out with no problem. I am curious as to what you are using.
                      Thanks

I have not really set up and played much since the end of last year. Just been keeping up with the updates. The one thing I dropped back to 0 was putting so that it read what the GC2 read for putts. It slowed the putting down a bit but still seemed ok. I know they adjusted the spin out of bunkers.

I will need to test everything out again when I get back into it in the next few weeks and get a feel of bunker penalties. I always found the best way to test was to hit a club that I know the distance of at full swing and then test in the bunkers or rough etc. Also with the GC2 it is easier to see the penalty with the readout to compare to. I will see if I can test that sooner and see if anything got missed.

The explanation on penalties is here somewhere but you can hit it full distance in real sand. Same with TGC. Rough is not 100%.

ok thanks. I was curious as hitting on of a green side bunker seemed to easy. On the protee I would have to hit it harder to get out. On the Gc2 I have to barely tap it and it flies out. Feels as if there is no penalty in the bunker.

After recently speaking with Foresight it seems they want an SDK fee of $1025 to play software that is not their own. I was told they will shut you out of the software if playing without paying them. That seems be counter productive to sales, but I guess they are using the Xbox/ PS4 route. Anybody else hear of this fee and if so have you paid it?
