  • List Foresight Software/Firmware Issues Here - This Post Monitored by Foresight Rep

Hey guys.... I just wanted to let everyone know that reads/follows this thread... I called and spoke with a contact I have at Foresight and explained to him the general feeling of lack of care of customer feedback by Foresight. I am certainly making zero claims that all our voices will suddenly be heard and that every problem we have outlined in this thread will be immediately addressed but I can tell you that my contact is aware and following this thread and I have been told that it will continue to be monitored from this point forward by him.
His one request is that when listing issues with FSX 2018 (or other supported Foresight software versions) that you be as specific as possible when describing your issue/bug/request for future development. The more specific you get the more likely they will be able to address it.
Again, I am making zero claims about what will actually happen with the information that hits this thread BUT I will promise all of you I will continue to draw my contacts attention to the thread when I see new posts.
I hope this helps the GSF community begin to create a better working relationship with Foresight and I will certainly do whatever I can to continue to facilitate it in the future!

New Foresight FSX2018 released today. 6.4.0.3.

My issues still continue with this version. Same issue with the warped graphics once I go in a course or range. Odd.

Only thing I've noticed so far is you can get to the courses Range, Chip and putt in practice mode without having to load a hole first. Gibbies have you reached out to Foresight Support yet?

Maybe try a different graphics card driver version?

I haven't called Foresight, figuring I'd wait till the next update (this one) before I do. I'll let the board know what they say.

vrpunk - yes, I've tried different graphics card drivers and different card driver versions. Both a desktop and my laptop have this issue, and both work perfectly fine with 6.1.1.1 (2 versions ago).

      Odd for sure.

I don't know what it is supposed to fix, they should do what other software people do and list what the revision covers.

What they havn't fixed is the hopeless Session Exporting function.

The only user dialogue that can be inputted for export purposes is the name of the club as selected in the FSX 2018 range which has a very limited number of characters available to use.

The dialogue boxes that appear when you select Custom Report don't appear on the report anywhere so typing anything in to the report name is pointless.

Foresights own in built report titles which are Basic Club Fitting ,Advanced Club Fitting and Advanced Coaching Data do absolutely nothing when selected. It would be expected that by having those titles built in to the software that they would load a custom template of parameters pertinent to the titles but sadly they do nothing.

I do not understand how pro fitters or coaches can use this program when the only user input-able data is limited to club naming in the range function. There is nowhere to enter shaft, loft ,lie or any other data other than the name of the club in the range.

It is also not possible to edit the title of the report for ease of identification, Foresight Sports think that calling every report Foresight Report makes sense, but for users who want to export a large number of reports it is necessary to be able to identify individual reports by titling that is editable.

The Exporting function of FSX 2018 is very poor, it needs looked at and modified to accommodate more user enterable data. I cannot see how club fitters or coaches use this, and I cannot see how Foresight can tout this as pro grade software.

Ok, I emailed Foresight and they quickly told me what the problem was. The golfsimtool that allows you to set was defaulting with 0's.

I've always installed and just closed out that window, but now the values (DX, DZ, DY etc) default to 0. I re-ran the golf sim tool and updated some default values...

          Problem solved!

Default Values (if hitting in to net, or outside):

          Units - Feet
          Image Width - 16
          Image Height - 9
          DZ -11
          DX- 1.5
          DY - 0
          Azimuth - 0

It appears like our voices might be having some effect over at Foresight. Please correct me if my memory is failing me but:
            1) I seem to remember that when there were FSX upgrades released there was not even an email sent out in the past.
            2) I know for a fact that when FSX updates were released in the past they definitely did NOT include what the updates included as far as software enhancements, patches, bug fixes, etc.
            * I know this seems like stuff they should have been doing all along but again unless my memory is as bad as my wife says it is things were worse in the past and are better now/improving.
            Thoughts about this?

Oddly, it was just the notes they sent out - they released this (emailed version) version on 5/20. My post above on 5/20 was the day they released this versio (their release website even confirms it). 16 days later they email the release notes. Odd.

Maybe the next version the actual release and the release notes will be sent out on the same day!

One other thing, I would like to request that this thread get "sticky" status at the top of foresight to make it very easy to find for everyone looking at Foresight. Does anyone know how to make that happen or how to request consideration for "sticky" status?

They are not sending out emails to UK customers...........only way I hear of updates is via the good folks here .........

The fact that they are now listing updates and sending out emails in certain marketplaces is a tiny step .....still a long long way to go for those guys.

The emergence of new systems to the market place providing elements of club data at real world prices plus the advent of top quality Lidar mapped courses now coming fast and furious on TG2019 has to raise the question of Foresights business model being relevant now and in the future.

Who is going to buy Quad or Hawk at silly money when it is locked to FSX and ridiculous pricing for courses when other systems are now available that can take advantage of TGC2109 and the growing list of courses that are easily the equal of any FSX course.

It's good that they are now able to list software revisions like other manufacturers have been doing for years ,but it would be a lot better if they fixed the long list of issues contained in this very thread.......just sayin...........

Kmurray largely echoed my own thoughts. I might be a one person sample lol, but before TGC2019 I would tee it up on FSX by preference. Now I go straight to TGC2019 for play, and to FSX only for practice.

Half a year ago, my feelings about FSX2018 were that the courses were expensive but decent, and that the ball/play physics were outstanding. Now, though, I find it almost painful to play FSX. Sorry to say it, but while the physics are arguably still the best (and that is admittedly huge), TGC2019 now blows it away wrt to the beauty of the courses, availability of top notch courses, excellent playing realism, and also the overall playing experience... things like how to navigate in game, view shots/angles, read terrain etc etc.

I love having both programs, though, and I haven't lost all hope! The people at Foresight are clever folks and I'm sure they've got things in the works. Perhaps they've been putting energy into the hardware side a bit too much and with enough market and customer pressure they will start re-focusing on the software side.

Companies that respond to market demand tend to succeed... those that don't..................

Foresight FSX is the best for practice, practice options in TGC 2019 are a waste of time in my opinion.
New version of FSX skills challenge has a bug in it, I use custom skills in it and when target is set up to 15-20 yards it displays on screen like it is 50 yards away, small bug which has only cropped up in latest version of FSX, I’ve reinstalled previous version due to this.

Not surprising, they seldom release an update without issues, for £3k software it is an absolute joke.

They did not even know that certain aspects of their expensive software simply does not work.

I can live with release issues if they are resolved rapidly but these guys expect their paying customers to do their testing for them after the fact.

Support is equally woefull as the software team, I raised the issue of exporting data in FSX and during the conversation they admitted that they hadn't really tried the exporting functions.

                    Very embarrassing really......

Still doesnt save my progress in the Inside 6 Feet and support has been a joke. They asked a couple questions at first and then stopped replying. It's really leaving a bad taste in my mouth, and almost enough to think about selling my Quad. This shouldn't happen. If it's just an issue I'm having, they should be able to tell me how to fix it instead of just ignoring me.

                      What company does that???

Same with our attempts to use Netplay. They replied at first and then started ignoring. Bottom line is that it doesn't work for most people and it should.

Update that my problem is solved. Support helped me figure out that my AV was stopping the inside 6 feet from communicating for some reason. Works on everything else (other than NetPlay).

Do you really have to log into FSX Live every time you start FSX? Why can't I stay logged in until I sign out on that computer? Why doesn't it remember your data so I don't have to type it out each time?

By the way, the user manual is horrible. Tried to figure out how to display data on the screen after shots on the range and there's nothing in the user manual. Still haven't figured out exactly how to adjust what displays on the left side of the screen after the last shot.

Yes it stays logged in - start it up go to the profile and If I remember right there is check box to stay logged in - FS great hardware not so great on the software side.

FS Performance app , range and carry are virtually identical with GC2 , no roll included irrespective of club used.
