I have seen a couple of videos about new FSX Play software being in the works. Has anyone heard anything about when they are expecting to release this? Looks like it would be a nice upgrade to fsx2020.

yeah - that was a bit of a dig for me! Fortunately I am a bit of an email pack-rat but I had to go all the way back to my original purchase email to grab the license #. Not sure is there is a way to pick it out of the software. Alternatively, FS Rep may be able to find it for you if you called.

Took 24 hrs for me, but I was one of the first 100. I see on the email Foresight sent today about FSX Play upgrade that it could take up to 3 business days.Last edited by Michael Chen; 02-01-2022, 10:05 PM.

Has anyone who purchased the FSX Play upgrade and who already owned La Jolla Pines get any kind of credit or replacement? I asked the question when I placed my order but as I mentioned above, have not yet heard back (must have missed the 3 day thing). Mostly curious.

I think it a very reasonable question. It's a significantly better deal to upgrade for someone who does not already own La Jolla... Kind of a no brainer actually. Meybe give those who already own it a credit on your account to select a course of similar value to La Jolla... Idk but something.
jasonreg Did you get a response yet?

Had a five minute look. GC2 seems to stay on screen even when ball found. In the preview videos online with a GCQuad when ball was found it removed the GCquad graphic. Anyone using a GC2 and noticed this? possible room setup problem?

That’s the video I meant. When ball is found gcquad graphic disappears, on mine the GC2 just stays there, but says ready.

So just received my email with the license and Happily they have added CRANS-SUR-SIERRE GOLF CLUB in place of Laj Jolla Pines! Guess I know what I am doing after supper!

You have the choice to enable or disable that.Originally posted by vrpunk View PostThat’s the video I meant. When ball is found gcquad graphic disappears, on mine the GC2 just stays there, but says ready.

looks like you already got a replacement course. This is what my rep said about it. Did you already own Colonial too?Originally posted by jasonreg View PostSo just received my email with the license and Happily they have added CRANS-SUR-SIERRE GOLF CLUB in place of Laj Jolla Pines! “If you already have LaJolla we can sub in Colonial or Crans-sur-Sierre GC Ballesteros two other premium courses. If you DO NOT have LaJolla already there is no substituting”

Is anyone having trouble activating their account? I entered my activation code last night and it sat for a couple of hours without it working. It said server taking time to authenticate request. I will try later today when I get home from work.

I heard they have to manually validate license, limiting orders would ensure buyers get activation key in reasonable turnaround time if that is the case. Also, a controlled release (using beta testers like us) help identifies bugs but limiting impact to a smaller customer base. I have had fsx play crashed on me a few times.Last edited by Michael Chen; 02-02-2022, 03:24 PM.

Played 3 holes of blue bayou last night and had enough of that course even with the new graphics…I think I’ve played the full 18 once. Terrible course. Switched to linfield and again no issues and my earlier complaints on the ball physics seem to have been the result of an underperforming GPU. Looks much better in full performance and it seemed to have saved my clubs and distance from last night. Happy enough with it that I haven’t opened 2020 for 4-5 days.

I see "Sold Out" again now. Luckily (or not) I did get my purchase completed and verified yesterday though, but still waiting for email with update license info; has anyone had it take more than 24 hours to get license once purchase confirmed? Thx.

Thanks for the replies; I will expect then to wait up to 48 hours which I'll be disappointed about after shelling out another $500 on a $3000 piece of software that I've only owned for a year. I love the GC Quad and no regrets buying it and I have FSX 2020 (and now FSX Play soon?) and I also own TGC2019; I would just say that the customer service at TGC 2019 in my opinion has been 10X better than at Foresight and at some point they will, or maybe have already, lose customers over it.

So got FSX Play installed last evening and installed the courses I already owned. A few initial impressions:- Installation of FSX Play seemed smoother than 2020 updates. For me, the system pulled the data for the room config tool into the room config page during installation. I just confirmed the data and moved on. Will report back if I lose the data as others have.
- Installation of the courses is much quicker. Still the same rigmarole telling windows defender to ignore the threat - but once you get to the actual installation - it was really quick. Pleasantly surprised also that the license codes seemed to be recognized as I did not have to re-enter anything in order to play them.
- Really impressed with the new graphics - kind of. I took a quick look a the range. Nice but see no benefit to hitting toward the tower. Played the first six holes on Pitch 'n Putt. Really (really) like the upgrades here. Much better definition and love the new greens. Played 2-3 holes on Minot and La Jolla - here is where I kind of went - meh. Don't get me wrong, I like to improvements, it is nicer to look at than 2020 but was not blown away as I was in PnP. I hope this is not par for the course. Would appreciate comments from others here on their impressions of the courses.
- My GPU in "Full Graphics" with or without Swing Catalyst, running is running full tilt GPU memory resource-wise. Saw some stuttering during ball flight as well which was unfortunate. Will spend more time rechecking settings on the GPU to see if there is anything I can do. Now with "Full Performance" there is no stuttering whatsoever (including when running Swing Catalyst with two cameras running). Balanced either. And, I have only spent a few hours with it but I cannot see any real difference in the graphics between the settings thought there has to be as I can see about a 25% reduction in GPU RAM usage with performance over full graphics.

Yes I’m commenting on the difference in FSX Play between full performance and full graphics. Interesting that you’re having those issues with a 2080 Super. I was hoping a 3070 or 3080 might be good enough if I can possibly find one someday. I have a 3060.

With Desktop GTX1070 had nVidia FrameView(FPS counter) running while playing today in Full Graphics mode. Linfield rarely dropped below 30fps. Whole round felt smooth.
La Jolla Pines dropped to the teens a few times but most of the time was 25+. Few stutters but playable.
Hate that La Jolla Pines course anyway. Driver, 3 wood, wedge game gets old... or maybe I'm just old :-). Shot +2 at Linfield then rage quit at +18 after 13 at La Jolla.
