While I really agree with what you are saying, so far, no one has been able to dent their market share. If you do that, prices will come down. They will, of course, rigorously defend reducing their bottom line by using their own product against them.

Out of curiosity, I would love to know how many GC2's there are out there in people's homes. Same goes for Protee and Optishot. Wouldnt you love to know how many are out there? How big, realistically, is this market? I would love to know!

Actually John, despite no camera based competition, it still makes no sense. There are radar based options like Flightscope if one wants a ground launch monitor. Ther are plenty simulator options other than the GC2. They must know through research that other companies are in the works. Sure they don't have a camera based competitor right now but that wont be forever. They have positioned themselves as "the most accurate unit", but from what I have tested, there is no perfect unit.

Mostly agree. But since they're the established entity in a small market, they don't need to predict as much as they need to react. If a sub $3k LM with $2k software hits they market, they better re-price VERY quickly. My theory is that they've positioned themselves to do this with the GC2-T. When the mystery LM hits the market, Foresight will (should) torch the market and price that thing at the exact same price

Play along with me here. Assume that Foresight is run by competent, perhaps even excellent people. They realize their LM monopoly can't last forever. Maybe they knew about the mystery product. Maybe they didn't. But they had to know something was coming. Hell even Martin, eventually, will figure it out (ok that's a stretch). But they know they have to be ready. So they develop a new model in their GC2 line. It's less expensive to manufacture, but most importantly lacks just enough features so they can slot it as their low end LM while still differentiating the original GC2.

They're ready to launch it ahead of any real competition. Why would they cannibalize their GC2 market until they need to? So they decide to price it a laughable 100 bucks lower than their flagship product. However, the minute the inevitable competing pro

Good points. Let's see if they're prepared to do what will/might need to be done.

Also, remember my post about taking it to the range? People will come up with something to power the unit at the range. When they do slash the price, it will hurt the gc2 sales.

What Zip says makes perfect sense. It will be interesting to see what happens when the Skytrak system rolls out. Although with the software choice they made it may just not matter.

So some hindsight on this topic, the CG2A price didn't drop Skytrak is a IPAD app based system and I had to buy one from Foresight becouse they are not selling for dirtcheap (unless your Zip) on ebay. I'll use the crap out of it at home, at the range and on the practice hole for chipping and stuff. If I find myself down the line feeling bad about my purchace I will remind myself I did't take a good vaction this year so this makes up for it. And I am getting to play golf all off season!
