  • Is anyone happy with their Full Swing Simulator?

I am very disappointed with my Full Swing Simulator and just wondering if I am the only one out there? Would love to hear from someone that likes their FSG setup.

I paid over $90K for the FSG Sim and a Swing Catalyst setup this summer and it has just been one big let down. They provided me with an old version of the E6 software from TruGolf, but it is a version of E6 that was released in 2007 and is pretty limited and no longer supported (enhanced). What they touted as their new Simulator software Full Swing Golf (FSG) is not much more than a Beta version.

    FSG Issues:
    • No ability to set the elevation on the driving range
    • Doesn't appear that elevation is factored in to any of the course configurations
    • Golf Ball is shown as square instead of round (think the old Pong Game)
    • No pin shown when you set your range target to a green, so your hitting to a target that is the size of a green with no finer target than that
    • No integration with the Swing Catalyst, even though they sold me both systems
    • Trees, Rocks, Sand is not factored into the sim, so you can hit your ball right thru a tree or a rock and you can putt out of the sand if you wish

I wonder if the square looking ball could be rectified by a different screen material? Not sure if it would make a difference but may be worth a try. The easiest way to see is to see if one of the company’s that offer screens could send you a small sample that you can put up to compare their material picture quality to what you have?

Yes the system has the Ion3 overhead camera. The entire company FullSwing company has gone dark on me. I sent this email (attached below) a couple of weeks ago and I am still waiting on a reply. I haven’t even received an acknowledgment that they received my email.

      Subject: New FSG version

I installed a new version of FSG today Ver1.0.12.7918

Where can I see the release notes to know what was fixed in this release?

      Critical Bug Fix Requests:
You still cannot adjust the elevation setting on the driving range. Do you know when this is going to be fixed? I don’t consider this a feature request since a very small part of the users actually live at sea level and being able to set the correct elevation is critical to learning to hit shots the correct distance.

Still no integration with Swing Catalyst. While the support guys at FSG tell me this integration is on the roadmap, the team at Swing Catalyst says they have no plans to add the integration. Can you update me on where this stands? You sold me both systems with the understanding that the systems would be integrated.

      Serious Bug Fix Requests:
On the driving range, when you select the “Green” target there is no flag on the green, so if you set the target Green to 150 yards you have no reference if you are hitting the ball short or long of 150y or if you are hitting it right or left of the marker. I have provided support with multiple screenshots of this bug in the past.

      Annoying Bug Fix Requests:
During course play, trees and boulders are not obstacles. There is no need to play around trees as every shot you hit flys thru trees or rocks as if they are not there. It appears that water is the only terrain component that the simulator actually recognizes.

      Feature Requests:

It would be helpful, if the shot values reported where color coded. For example: PATH values that were “inside out” where shown in one color (blue for example) and “outside in” values were in another color (yellow for example). This way when you looked at the numbers you could instantly recognize their orientation instead of having to also read the text of inside-out or outside-in to determine context. Same process for FACE Degrees, Open or Closed as well as SIDESPIN, Draw or Fade.

Ideally this would be user configurable. For Example: I am working to get a more outside-in path, so I might assign Red to inside-out values and Green to outside-in values. When I look at results and see that Path, Face and Sidespin are all Green numbers then I am getting the desired results, if one is Red then I look to see what the problem is with that number.

Similarly it would be helpful if the ball flight tracer marks were color coded. Draws in one color, fades in another color and straight shots in white. Again user configuration of these color assignments would be a great add.

Thanks in advance for your reply,

      Dustin R. Womble

Full Swing provided me the E6 Software (Version released in 2007, and no longer supported) along with their FSG software. The golf ball is round in the E6 Sim software, it is only square in the FSG software.

I'm happy with the Full Swing System. I don't think there's a perfect system. In my house I have a GC2 with FSX2020 and TGC 2019. I have access to a very recent Full Swing System with both FSG and e6 1.6. There are some weird aspects to the FSG. They have some glitches that are awful in their software. The system reads fairly well. The FSG software itself has beautiful graphics. The screen is so big, it feels like you're at the course. We've started using e6 way more until there's a new update to FSG. They are updating their software but not nearly enough. I really want to be able to run TGC2019 on the sim. Anyone made that work yet?

RaceTo100 - my guess is you will be able to run TGC2019 with your FSG system soon. They announced the release of a Full Swing Kit which is launch monitor only and they are claiming it supports TGC2019. Likely you would have to buy a second copy of TGC2019 that is licensed to your Full Swing system. The Kit is supposed to be released in May this year, I believe.

I just saw this post and quite frankly I am so sorry you had this happen to you. I got so upset I decided to contact Fullswing myself to have them come here to address this concern. Hopefully this will help and Fullswing will get with it and offer you a refund or remedy this so you can enjoy your simulator. 90K is huge chunk of change as others have mentioned; we get 4k graphics, awesome online/tournament play, and host of other options for a fraction of the cost. I love my GC2 which when I purchased was middle of the line and all I could afford, but it does everything I would ever need in my garage sim build. Just wishing you all the best and really sorry to hear about your circumstances. Is there anyway you could post a pic of the full simulator, curious as to know what 90K dollar install looks like?

Dwomble.... I have between Gchawk, aboutgolf curve and full swing pro. 22x26 space so alot of room. Grandpa ran a course with 4 about golf sims and love them, but intrigued by the other 2. Any suggestions after playing your full swing for a month?

Here are a couple pics of my setup. The flat screen above the two monitors is not included in the Full-Swing cost. I don't have all of the woodwork stained just yet and still need to installed the "48" on that locker, but I am getting close to getting the room finished out.

I built what I think is a really nice room only to be very disappointed in the simulator choice. I ordered a GCQuad about 10 days ago, so I hope that it will be what I thought I was getting when I purchased the FSG system.

I can't provide any comparison to an AboutGolf system as I have never been on one of those. I really can't give you much of a review of the FSG software either as it is so lacking that I just don't use it that much.

The FSG system has not obstacle conflict algorithm, so there is no need to shape a shot around any bunker, tree or rock. You just play the layout as if every shot was wide open and just avoid the water hazards. You can hit a ball right thru a tree trunk as all of the trees and rocks are just air in the simulator.

The lack of integration with the Swing Catalyst is also a deal killer for me. You can certainly play the FSG system without the SwingCat system, but it just it just really bothers me that I can't replay a swing if I want to. Again, FSG sold me both systems, they just forgot to develop the integrations between the two system.

None of the FSG golf courses are altitude adjusted.

                The golf ball is square.

For all of these reasons and a few other, I just don't use the FSG software. I do use the E6 simulator that Full Swing provided, but again it is a version released in 2007 and doesn't have many of the features or graphics quality that the new versions of E6 have.

Bottom line, I wouldn't give FSG anything close to a good recommendation. Don't make the same mistake that I did.

Full swing issues aside, that’s probably the best set up I’ve seen (granted it did cost $90k).

I’m about ready to pull the trigger on the gcquad. Who did you order from, and how long a wait did they quote you? I can wait a month or two since I’m getting over a bad case of tennis elbow lol. I was originally going to wait till the full swing kit was released, but this had me second guessing going with full swing. Maybe it’s just a one off customer service issue, who knows.

That is a beautiful setup and I love those leather chairs. Really sorry you went through that kind of money to end up with that kind of disappointment. Very poor. I know it's too late now, but did you consider the uneekor eyexo system at all? It looks like you have the space for both R/L and with the quad, it could be a pain. You might not have the need though either. At least with the quad it will actually work and now it can work with TGC without the need for FSX even though you may have purchased that. Good luck with the new system, i'm sure you are going to be much happier.

Thanks. Just to be clear, I have $90K in the Full Swing sim, but I have another $250K-$300K in the studio.

I ordered my GCQuad from a Texas dealer. Was 6 weeks out when I ordered.

I don't see how this could be considered a service issue with FSG. They readily admit, they don't factory in altitude and they don't have any obstacle collision algorithms in their sim. I am sure they will fix the square golf ball and the other major shortcomings in time. I just wasn't sold a beta product and certainly didn't pay a beta price.

Gorgeous setup. I'm sure Full Swing would love to put pictures of your studio on their advertisements. Truly is one of the best I have seen. I'd consider adding some curtains to keep those lockers beautiful.

I echo the thoughts about getting an EYEXO from Uneekor as opposed to a GC2. You could basically just swap it out from what you have on the ceiling.
Given your software concerns, Uneekor from what I have read seems to have a really good stance with working with as many software vendors as possible. They also large software enhancements that make their products better - for example, they just sent out stickers to use with a new update of their "low" end QED product so that it could have enhanced club tracking. Foresight is closer to Full Swing when it comes to positions on software integration (it's very possible, but not officially supported), though I've never heard anything close to what you just experienced, and wouldn't expect it from Foresight.

GCQuad certainly has amazing data and a lot of high profile support. Nothing wrong with it by any means. If it were me in my $340,000 room, I would go Uneekor and play TGC 2019.
