  • Do You Get The Slow Internet Connection Symbol ?????

Not sure what it called so I'll try and explain it.

Lower right hand corner of the screen. White symbol with arcs. Goes from 1 to 3 arcs. I think it means I'm connected but my connection is running slow. I have tried two connections. One is a router at 6 Gig (yes I live in the country). The other is a hot spot on my phone at 29 Gig (that country thing again). Both get me the slow symbol.

Last two tournaments I've played it will work for 7 or 8 holes then the lag starts at about 2 minutes between shots. After a few of these the game freezes.

I don't remember getting this symbol in the past with the same connections and I sure didn't have the lag.

    Any Help ???????

    ProTee suggested I install this:

Get fast, secure VPN service in 120+ countries. Download our free VPN now — or check out Proton VPN Plus for even more premium features.

I just did, I'll post up with results later.

      So far so good !

I was able to get the rest of the first round in and start the second.

      Time will tell.

Do you know why this VPN service is supposed to help? VPNs introduce additional latency to network connections, so if we are already experiencing communication problems with the ProTee server how willl a slower connection help?

VPNs change the route your connection takes. If a certain provider is causes losts packets or corrupted packets, using a VPN might benefit. Its possible that the VPN will bypass whatever node is causing the issue. Yes, latency might increase, but packet loss is worse then a certain amount of latency.

It did slow down my connection. I went from 29 to 16/21 Gig. But I was able to play!

I use a VPN for my work laptop when offsite but u have to use it always. With this VPN can u use it only with TGC, as that is the only thing I have issues with?

Yes you can toggle it on and off. I did not try it off, I had 15 holes left in the second round and didn't want to take a chance.

Ok thanks I may try it. But my issue seems to be the skytrak connection going in and out not TGC. I very rarely see the spinning white circle on my computer and when I do it's just for a few seconds at most. But maybe the VPN will help with the skytrak also. We will see

Yes, the best thing you can do is hardware your PC to the router and install someVPN software.

Ive been getting that slow connection symbol too but my internet is high speed and cat6 connected so it has to be on their end I would imagine. Do you have a monthly fee for that VPN?

They have 3 versions available, one is free the other two are $4 and $8 dollars per month. I downloaded the free version but it tells me im on a free 7 day trial of the $8 version. Hope it works as well after the 7 days

There is a free version of ProtonVPN which is what I'm testing (recommended by ProTee). The paid version would get me more server options to connect to, and seemingly faster speeds, but so far the free version seems to be working for me as part of a range of solutions to freezing and dropouts. I'll be sure to post if I find any major updates

StanMI I think you meant to say MB and not GB download speed. Otherwise at 29GB you would have the fastest Internet in the world.

I have also experienced the same slow TGC server issue everyone here is reporting. I play fine, then occasionally I get the WiFi icon in bottom right blinking and starts to take 3 min before showing the shot. This isn’t every round but occasionally. After I close everything and start everything back up it seems to work again.

I have 100 MB download speed and issue is not on my end. With multiple people reporting same issue points to something related to TGC server. They could check time stamps and see if there is a bottleneck or overload on server during these times. Servers require a lot of configuration and tweaking. This issue may be present during peak high usage of TGC. Again hard to say but with multiple reports it may be something needing to be looked at. The VPN shouldn’t be the solution.

Always knew we didn't have the fastest internet in the World...... and now there's proof !!

                    Your right MB not GB

Our dual octacore servers with 1gb unmetered internet connections run on average at 0,4% cpu usage. There are no server performance issues.
Lag and internet router congestions are causing connection drops due to monitoring and rerouting.
It does not matter how fast your connection is. Lots of providers monitor traffic and can not handle traffic at peak hours.

TGC does not communicate on standards ports like for web and ftp. You provider might consider this type of traffic as low priority and will route it differently and monitor content. VPN hides the network packet type preventing rerouting and monitoring.

Another tip is to reboot your own networking equipment regularly.

So, by your reasoning then, all of the Xbox and Playstation online gaming would encounter the same types of issues with online play if they didn't operate through a VPN, which they do not! We have had Xbox and Playstations in our home for years, and never had we had issues with online play like TGC encounters for so many users. Especially for us, it always runs fine until the 7th hole and then the lag starts...

I used to have this issue all the time, connection icon would start flashing and eventually each shot would take about 5 minutes to register. Restarting everything seemed to make it ok for a while. I switched out my router and all my powerline adapters and moved to a wifi mesh setup, Internet speed in my sim room actually dropped from about 150Mbps to around 10-20Mbps but there are no dropped packets which is the key more so than speed I would say.

Quoting 100 MB download speed is a gross oversimplification of the issue. Communication with the tgc server is two way. How many people even know what their upload speed is? Or the latency for that matter? Or how their provider treats tgc packets. Fwiw, I only have a 10 MB download speed and have never experienced the problems you mention. I've also been on during times people have talked about without seeing any issue so to me it points to launch monitor, home network, intent provider and internet issues way more than possible TGC server issues. That's not saying it couldn't be tgc server also but it seems pretty far down the list of likely culprits.

I had the same issues and then started using the protonvpn about 3 weeks ago. I have had zero connection issues since using this.
