Any idea when they are going to actually make a usable driving range? Be nice to be able to hit shots and get stats for multiple shots and ball tracers like e6 has. Even Skytrak has this ability yet TGC still hasn't gotten on the ball

I agree....it's a pain having to change ur club every time if its not a driver on the current ranges. also having to switch from protee range is annoying since u have to exit and restart interface...then repeat to play tcg after that. maybe protee can elaborate....maybe it's not as easy as we that think to make the change.

I don't like the ProTee range at all. It doesn't maintain running stats or allow you to export data. Only seeing your last couple of shots and then the best and the worst isn't good enough. Everyone else has full shot stats on their range, and why not... All of the data is there, so it's not a big ask. I need a much better range than the ProTee option. They have a great opportunity to take TGC up a few more notches with a driving range and statistical data offerring. At that point, it would be impossible to beat. Here's hoping this happens this year.

Protee range is horrible and it's a major pain in the *** having to change all the config files to launch it. I feel if it's not soon Perfect Golf will be the sim software of choice or e6. Like I said even skytrak comes with a range and stats and hardware + software is cheaper than what we paid for TGC.

Have you tried the E6 demo? I couldn't get it to work. E6 software has amazing features. My Courses:

Yes, I tried the new demo and it's pretty good. The range was great and all of the different modes of play are fantastic. Not as detailed or flat out beautiful as TGC, but certainly much better than ProTee. The range & chip/putting practice is just as important to me as the courses, so I'm thinking about pulling the trigger on e6.Originally posted by mthunt View PostHave you tried the E6 demo? I watched the stream with Anthony from wed and unfortunately a driving range doesnt seem too high on his list. however, he did say that a practice putting green and chipping green are something he is wanting to add. hopefully protee can influence this and can get it pushed up. I tried e6 trial and its no comparison to tgc in realism and feel. multiple tees and a range are definitely a must so hopefully soon

When I was looking to buy a SIM last November I was told by ProTee that a driving range was on going to be added into TGC with the comment "it will be easy it's just another course, it should be out once the beta goes to official release". They are yet to produce one. This is a disappointment as most other SIMS have much better driving range options with stats history etc. This should be a higher priority in my opinion and should have been released by now.Central Time

I'd like to chime in with my 2 cents about the driving range and practice facilities, putting and chipping greens.
I think that unfortunately the powers that be, have underestimated the need for these features.
My "sim" is my practice facility. It probably used in the same way as well by other sim owners. It is of little use to have thes 58K courses available if all you can do is "flail away" without a way to practice. Since setting up my sim, I have spent more time on the driving range (I use the ProTee version, which is not very complete) in order to get my game in shape, make some adjustments to my swing, etc. so that it's worthwhile to "play a round" on the sim. Just flailing away on the sim is just as hollow an experience as flailing away on a real course.
In fact, one of my first communications with ProTee was about needed changes to their driving range - the need for meaningful stats, the ability to group stats for separate clubs, etc. Those improvements likely aren't even being considered and the ProTee / Red Chain software can now effectively be considered an "orphan". No more enhancements, no more development.
I don't for a moment doubt that these improvements will arrive for TGC, but it needs to be sooner, rather than later!

aja there are lots of things happening right now with TGC and Protee. A driving range with appropriate features is on the list but will not happen tommorrow. I agree its needed. Be patient as it will come in due time. I personally cant wait for it to happen as well.

Totally Agree on the need of a practice mode. I don't think there is anything higher on my personal wishlist for TGC than a practice mode.
Maybe we can start small and work up to stats and such - seems just adding my option one below wouldn't be that hard.
1. To start, I would take just being able to hit over and over without having to keep hitting rewind. So maybe just putting it into pratice mode will allow you to hit over and over from any courses 1st tee.
2. Next for me woudl be to be able to hit on any course, any hole, any position on the hole.
3. Would be able to keep track of all shots taken during a session, be able to see the balls you hit on the green or whereever they ended up, a new analysis screen seeing dispersion, averages etc.
