  • Green Configuration Patch

    We have created a quick TGC Patch for those who want to play around with the Green Configuration.
    This patch will update the server component to version 3.0.1

    After the install start and stop TGC so it will add new settings to the config file.
    Now you can control the following:

    Green Stimp=7 (new user default = 5)
    1 = Very Slow
    12 = Very Fast
    * in the 3.0.0 the minimum value was 6.

    Green Firmness=2 (new user default = 1)
    1 = Soft
    2 = Normal
    3 = Firm
    * in 3.0.0 the default was 2

    Green Speed=3 (new user default = 3)
    1 = Slow
    2 = MediumSlow
    3 = Medium
    4 = MediumFast
    5 = Fast
    * in 3.0.0 this value was fixed to 3 and could not be changed.

    The value Green Stimp does not reflect RL Green Stimp, so you will have to find the value that works best for you.

    Make sure when you edit the config file, the server component is not running.
    -> SkyTrak users quit the SkyTrak for TGC interface from the system tray.
    -> Other users stop the server component from the SDK

    Note: The front end will still show version 3.0.0. This part is not updated with this patch. Only the server component running in the background.

    Its a quick patch and not an official release, so use at own risk...

    How does stimp vs speed compare?

    If I were to put stimp at slowest and speed at fastest...?

        For that new setting Green Speed did you mean to type Fairway speed?

        IF not, then please explain difference between Green Stimp and Green Speed.

          Now lets talk about short irons on behavior in relation to yardage will this assist on this or is there anything you can plug into interface to assist on this issue to get these to work together if you hit a 40 yard shot and it goes 90 with a lob these new settings are of no consequence

            Protee, are those advanced settings part of tgc? If so, how do you get to them?

            These settings are for the ProTee Golf interface only (ProTee systems).

          Green Speed will override the Green Speed set by the designer.

          Green Stimp is a simulator feature that affects the ball speed in relation to the Green Speed.

            Ok, so one maybe effects friction or roll out and the other a more general overall speed of the green?

            I had no idea there was a green speed setting. I thought stimp was speed and firmness was hard/soft, first bounce reaction...and that was it.

            thanks.

                    Yes I switched out and like the effect of the ball on the wedge shot, I am used to the way it putts and slowed it down by one number and I was coming up short every shot got used to it but you can definitely feel the difference on the green. Great job protee

                      Don't want to rain on this parade, but... Where do these new settings fit into tournament play? If the notion behind tournaments is that everyone plays under the same course conditions, these new settings possibilities totally contradict that.

                      I played a couple of the tournaments this year and the differences in the greens on the two courses were due to the contours. One course had very extreme contours, the other had almost flat greens. The ball performed as it would according to the green contours or lack of them.

                      I kind of missed the reason that these new settings were needed.

                      I use the ProTee sim.

                      Does this "patch" not give other sims an advantage?

                        Not sure on tournament play, I run a protee also and as far as fair conditions each system has customizations that will fit to each other's play in there sim as well as the interface. I do not think you can equalize this out. It's like NASCAR all cars are supposed to be exactly the same, but you know that's not true.

                          It's very binary in my opinion. We either play under the same settings in tournaments, or the playing field is uneven.

                          With regards to different system types, those settings should all match each other at agreed values.

                          i think it is wonderful and completely awesome that the systems can be tweaked to help match a players local conditions. That is an extremely valuable feature....for practice play.

                            I agree but I think that would be a very tough road to do. If it can be done great.
