  • Luxury Home Golf Simulator

    Hello,

I'm building a home and I'm planning on putting a golf simulator/home theater in my house. I have a plenty of room wide and deep and I also have 12 foot ceilings. I want the best golf simulator on the market. I just did a google search and it showed me many companies. I'm liking HD Golf so far but I saw a few others that looked really good. My budget is $70,000ish. I'm not looking to spend that much money but I would if there was a simulator that was hands down the best in the market. The reason I like HD is because the have the 11 foot curved screen and that looks really good for both golf and movies. I do want a simulator that is extremely accurate for game improved practice and it seems that HD golf is very accurate. Can anyone shed some light on my situation and let me know what you would do in my situation.

    Thanks!

I think you'll find that most people on this forum achieve similar results for 10 - 20 percent of your budget. But they do a fair bit of hands-on.

I'm sure someone will show up who will be glad to take your money.

HD golf is nice, but one downside which really makes you golf simulator fun is the tours protee puts on with their TGC software. With your budget I would hire a contractor and ask him to contact FSX the makers of the GT2 or have the contractor call protee - I think you will have a great setup for about 40,000 and have it all done for you. I am about 10 years away from doing what you are doing. Right now I have about a 12,000 dollar solution with skytrak, etc.

      In any event, good luck

I have played on both the HD golf simulators as well as the Foresight GC2. They are both extremely accurate for ball data so they will accurately and identically show the ball flight. HD golf will also show club data which is great for trying to improve however you can get the Head Measurement Technology (HMT) from foresight with does the same thing. So based on club and ball data they are able equal. I think the major benefit for the HD golf simulator is the wow factor of getting a 4k curved screen and the the clean look of the simulator (aka you don't have a devise on the ground next to where you are hitting). Having said that from a usability perspective you can integrate the Foresight GC2 with the protee's The Golf Club (TGC) game which is head and shoulders better than the other software packages. As penrose mentioned, TGC has weekly tours so you can compete against others and also includes over 100,000 courses (real and fake) which you can play including Augusta, Pebble, Oakmont and just about everything under the sun.

You will have to do a little more research on different systems but it sounds like you will be having a lot of fun no matter what you choose.

I have the good fortune of living close to HD and have visited them many times to get updates and review the system. No doubt it's great and accurate. You can debate "which simulator is the best". Let's not go there. They are all accurate enough. The only thing I don't love about HD is their software. Having said that it's a great system. At that price range and a hands off approach for someone to come set it up for you, your looking at HD, About golf, Visual Sports, FullSwing golf and an indoor Trackman. To save money look at a GC2 with TGC. TGC with the online league is awesome. At the end of the day it's your choice and your money.

To quote Aja "I'm sure someone will show up who will be glad to take your money".

Wow...This is some good info. It sound's like you can't go wrong with HD Golf but it also sounds like I might be wasting a ton of money by going with them. On one hand, I really like the "wow" factor that HD golf presents with an 11 foot tall by 17 foot wide curved screen. I also will be getting a full surround sound and my screen will be used as a home theater. On the other, paying $65,000 for a golf simulator seems crazy when you guys are doing it for $15,000. But, I am building a luxury home so I almost feel like I have to go with the best (or one of the best) products in the market. I also looked at full swing and trackman. I came to the conclusion that all the products out there are really cool and very similar. I'm just glad to hear that some of you agree that HD Golf is a great simulator. If anyone is building a home anytime soon, be careful, you spend money so quickly.

I wouldn't mind being hands on with building my own simulator if someone would be willing to help. If I could save $40,000, I would consider doing it myself and paying a consulting fee for help. Message me if anyone knows who I can connect with for help. I'm in the Chicago land area. Thanks.

Contact Cory from Par2Pro (http://www.par2pro.com). They build custom solutions in the US and Canada for a good price.

I would agree with the below comment - one because cory is a good guy and it goes along with my suggestion. The curved screen, surround sound, can all be done with any product. I believe Cory will come to your house and do it all for you. This will get you a better product I believe, less cash, and can do a little yourself if you like.

No matter what - it sounds like you will have a great setup. Once it is done please show us pics and if you want to show it off in person I am only 4 hours away. hehehe...enjoy

You might want to wait and see what Foresight and Flightscope have on the horizon - both have new premium models coming out in the next few months and I am sure there will be some others at the PGA show.
HD Golf is great - I've used a professionally fitted one with curved screen and it was very high-end, the only negative I can remember was the software wasn't as good as TGC for example, but they may have updated. The interface was very simple and smooth though (selecting holes, practice etc.)
