Been getting ideas on here for a while and over the last year and a half aggregated those into building my own sim room in the house i bought last year. I figured I’d finally share it.
The first build didn’t go as well as i built a wooden frame for the net and connected it to the studs in the walls. Every shot transferred that energy into the frame of the house and to say it sounded like a gunshot was an understatement. I learned from those mistakes and with a combination of angle iron and bungies I made a much more quiet and absorbing setup.
I only have 9’ ceilings but for me (5’11” with a flat swing) it is no issue. My 4yo will have a long time before he has to worry about it as well. So far with a handful of friends only one has grazed the ceiling and he has a weird follow through. Worst case I’ll try to raise a part of the ceiling, but not worth it if it’s only a problem for guests. We can always play par 3 courses.
Then it came to launch monitor. I started with a SkyTrak, but had issues. The distances would seem correct, but it heavily favored a draw spin. I tried messing with alignment and hitting cuts and there was just way too much deviation in the horizontal launch angle. Just switched it up to a GC2 running TGC and it is phenomenal. Results are so much better. Stoked to be able to play over the colder months.

I wonder what the life is on that zoysia mat, how has it been holding up?
