  • Please post your lighting setups for use with Optishot

Really honing in on my simulator setup and need to determine the best lighting to use with my Optishot. My setup is in the basement with next to zero ambient light. I have a 10' x 10' x 10' netted enclosure that I had to trim down a few inches due to ceiling height of 9' 8". I have an Epson Powerlite Home Cinema 730HD on the way, it will be set back at about 15' and directed onto one of Coreys impact cloth screens. Working on building a stance platform that I can set the sensor pad into. About the only remaining piece is lighting. I have seen several different setups and some use a floor mounted lamp directed to the sensor pad, while others are using an overhead light of some sort. I would like to use an overhead light as i can recess it into the joist area above, as the ceiling is currently unfinished.

So, feel free to chime in with what lighting recommendations you have!!

Oh and I debated on the second sensor until I saw Dicks had em on sale for $199, that helped make my decision

Madspeed, what is the link to the new A/B switch you bought? I had a hard time finding the right kind.

Wow, you got a new Opti for $199. That's an awesome deal! Yeah, if you are limited on width then this is the best solution I could come up with for both lefty/righty players.

Well get your practice started so you can join in the tour! Start soon! You don't have to be the best golfer to play. We have handicaps to even things out too!

About the only other one I could locate. Went through two of the L Comm units like you have and gave up

Looks like Dicks still has them online for $199. Wish I had some extra cash to buy ten of em and resell on the bay

Madspeed, Great idea with the dual sensors. I wish I would have read this earlier because my room is also tight. Can you take a close-up picture of your club rack on the right side wall and post it? I need to build something and am looking for ideas for my room. I have built in shelves on the left side already and am not really interested in cutting them to make a rack and like you I have a bare spot on the right side wall.

              Thanks!

Heres a few shots. These were something like 13.00 total from amazon. Fishing rod holders!

                  Gents,

So I just built a simulator because... there is not much else to do right now. I converted all lights in the basement to LEDs. Sometimes the black taped drivers with a white electrical tape would still blank 2-3 times during the 15 swing calibration. I put a $13 5W LED landscape light on top of the cage, and we are at 100% no missed swings now. Used a 1” off road light mount worked perfect with the 1” EMT tubing. Highly recommend a spot light on the swing pad. Makes a big difference.

I use the system with about 6 lights(all LED) in view + spotlight, or just one above/behind swing pad (7W LED ceiling fan) + spotlight. The two lights on are how the picture is taken. Both work flawlessly.

And thanks for all the good ideas here. I used this site to guide my build.

                    Nice setup mate!
I'm working on mine too because I don't trust my results. Too many fairways hit with the driver.. haha
I have a LED bulb on the ceiling just above the mat and I don´t know if its enough. Maybe I can add one more like you.

The 5W landscape light is key. Got it off Amazon for $13. It is the Lemonbest LED landscape. Unlike a lot of the other landscape lights that require transformers or electrical hardwiring, it’s just a standard 110 plug. So super easy. I did mount it dead center over the pad and it shines at about a 35 degree angle towards it. I have a LED high hat almost directly over the pad but I think the body blocks some of the light during a swing. So this keeps it accurate. Hope this helps!
