Joe do you edit the swing speed setting or the distance setting or both?

I don't simply raise the trajectory to it's highest setting for every shot and swing threw the trees.

        But to each his own.

I'm just saying you know you never used the trajectory until it was mentioned there was an advantage and now you raise it to the max every shot. That to me doesn't seem like you are even trying to make this real.

You are the administrator and you have a board of directors. I'm asking please talk amongst yourselves and come up with a solid "rule book" if you will and go with it. I will SUPPORT whatever trajectory, club, tee, weather or course condition settings you guys decide. I really want this to work and have some fun, but we need some consistency with the rules.
Mike I would love to keep it real, however the game software is not there yet, and yes there are risk and rewards for going through trees on this game, sometime you win sometimes you lose. However we all have the same Game and Rules.. If you suggesting that we should police how players should hit out of the Rough, that's insane...

John we talked at length about this. Not sure why you would continue to post? I explained myself, you explained yourself. Thought we pretty much agreed to disagree?

Wow, just got caught up and read all this. First of all, I adjust my distance percentage for driver and irons to 92% to reflect real distances, even though everyone or most everyone has it at 100% and rocking 280-320 yard drives all the time. I am at a disadvantage but prefer to be more realistic vs. a video game. I can't control what others do but can control my distances. Just wish more people were true and honest with their swing. Anyway that's a different discussion.

Regarding the putting discussion. I've always stated the Fast greens were way too fast and even stated that we should never play Fast greens again. Like everyone's results show the OptiShot's fast greens are so ridiculous....not even fun playing and putting on them.

I completely agree that you should be able to lower the percentage on your putter and set the rule to a range and state you cannot exceed 100%. (Were you talking about reducing the Speed or Distance percentage?)

Regarding Trajectory: You have to allow the ability to change trajectory. Talking about not allowing this is ridiculous. Since the OptiShot doesn't read ball data then you have to use trajectory to setup your shot type like if you are going to flop it high or bump and run a chip low. Or if you are in the trees and need to hit it low with a 3 iron you can set the trajectory low to go below the trees. So removing the ability to change trajectory should be out of the question.

Instead of making this all very difficult. It should be very simple.

                  The rule should be:
                  (a) No one shall set any club higher than 100% and each player is allowed to adjust all clubs (including putter) to any distance or speed percentage lower than 100% to match their real swing.
                  (b) All adjustments must be made prior to the beginning of a round and no club setting adjustments are allowed during play.
                  (c) You MUST swing the actual club you have selected in OptiShot. For those who cannot swing a Driver due to ceiling height, you are only allowed to use a 3 Wood as an alternative. You shall never swing an iron while a driver, wood or hybrid is selected in OptiShot or you will be disqualified.
                  (d) It is HIGHLY encouraged to adjust all your clubs to your REAL SWING SPEED AND DISTANCES to make the game fun and fair.

Also I think tournaments would be more fun and closer if we eliminated the SLOW and FAST greens. Only use Medium, Medium Fast. That would make a tournament closer to real life instead of making every round so far apart with speeds.

Don't think there's any question where I stand on that issue considering my PGA swing speed thread. The majority said they wanted to leave it at 100% though. So that's what I changed mine to. I'm considering doing the same though and going back to my original distance settings. The swing speed is pretty accurate overall, but Optishot doesn't calculate backspin. Factoring in 2000-3000 rpm's of backspin greatly reduces distances. The problem is, most people think they hit it further than they actually do. Like you said, a totally different discussion I guess.

Wow! Looks like I missed a lot of discussion today. Took me a while to read thought all the comments....Good stuff. Some thoughts regarding the curent rules and their apparent "state of flux".....

I agree with Buckeye in that we need a solid set of rules to stick by and follow. However, we are a very young group and are currently feeling our way to the best, right set of solid rules. We will get there....However, it may take a little time and growing pain.
Ideally, we would all have our setups reflect our real game. The hard part is going to be monitoring that. That is part of the reason the rule stated no greater than 100% for club settings. Originally, the thought was to require a 100% setting for the putter. It was the felt that was the "most fair" way to do it. With some of the conditions and further testing, it seems that most players can't actually achieve a "slow enough" putter stroke. So, rules adjustments are being looked at.
We are a new, young group and are trying to get to the best possible online tour system we can. We will have growing pains. However, if we all hang in there and provide valuable input, we will end up with the best possible system (online tour and rules) that we can achieve with the simulator we have.

                        Just my 2 cents......

Hey guys, the people have spoken and we must resolve the unrealistic optishot putting when on the fast green setting and moderate or higher winds. John Meyer, thanks for your very detailed and interesting results from your testing. I have been playing optishot golf for almost three years now and have never once changed the settings from medium greens at 100 % and the most wind was gentle breeze until this online world opened up 😕. The boys and I felt it was realistic enough for skins and beers.
I really enjoy the different conditions now and it's much more challenging BUT when I have a left to right breaking putt and I have to aim to my right because of a moderate 12 mph wind or a tail wind blows my tap in 8 feet by or a head wind almost pushes my golf ball backwards.....(i'm sure you've lived the same nightmare), it's no longer a challenge or enjoyable.

I love this golf simulation world and cherish the fact that I can play in this cold Montreal weather boys ✌ As Brad said, we only started this two months ago and a little tweaking as we go along will be needed to keep all the players happy.

Good luck at Warwick Hills guys and let's hope the ball rolls true ⛳

                          Cheers

Mildly off topic but do any of you find your irons not play a little short when set to 100%. IRL I hit 9 iron 145 carry, consistently and have done for years. I took my club set based on GI irons so that may be causing the problem but have increase distance setting to 110 to acheive this on optishot. Pretty much the same through my irons 6 iron through to SW. Driver however I know distance setting down to 93% to acheive my 260 which is what I hit pretty much every time I hit a straight drive, as backed up by trackman data for the x2hot at 102-106 swing speed which is what Optishot reads it at. And I think you know where I stand on my putter Not saying anything is right or wrong or anyone should do anything, just wondering if anyone else has similar experience with irons. Im still using old deep red tour fatshaft irons which I think were known for being long, and people do comment how long and high I do hit my irons.
