To be real or not to be real?

MY CONFIDENCE IS NO LONGER 100%


Did a direct comparison Test today as bought some almost balls

Did 10 swing using real ball on real ball setting with Driver set to 100% Speed 90% Distance - Avg Swing Speed 99, Avg Distance 255 Ratio 2.57

Did 10 swing using foam ball on foam ball setting with Driver set to 93% Speed 88% Distance - Avg Swing Speed 103, Avg Distance 257 Ratio 2.49

Think need to dial down distance % setting a bit to get it into line on real ball as ratio is high as you can see.

My speeds were bit slower on real ball down as was very cold and no warm up but on thewhole would say as a direct comparison they were pretty close

I think my 100% confidence has dropped slightly to be honest. Foam Ball setting I think is spot but would say need equalise the reall ball distance setting with foam ball to 88%.

It would sit nice with ball types playing same distance % as gives a standard that Optishot gives 12% too much distance across the board, and reads foam balls 7 % fast

This is all on stock turf

Also the No Ball setting is impossible to Set. Had swings speeds ranging fro 88 - 132 all with pretty much the same swing. I think for that one we may have to go with the guys who use it who said 100 90 was fine but for me I found it unuseable

Before we can move forward with any of this I need 3 players who have the facilities to hit both real and foam balls off stock turf to do some direct comparison testing like I did above. Will only need you for 20 swings, 10 of each as long as no misreads and ideally would like you tobe able to chat and stream it whilst you do it, but if not Ill need the info exactly as Ive written in above, with the average speed and average distance taken directly from the Optishot Stats Screen

No ball settings for me have to be well past 100%. Don't know why mine would be so different. I'm a 0-3 hc from April thru July.

You are an asset to our community. Do you happen to own an OptiShot that you could compare with Flightscope X2 to confirm our testing is reasonable?

Yes, I do have the Optishot simulator set up to work directly in line with the Flightscope X2C. It's very cold out in the studio/garage. I will start testing/calibrating the Optishot with the Flightscope this week after I get the heater set up in the studio.

I will be using real golf balls since the Flightscope does not register other types of golf balls. It does however, register swings without a golf ball. This could come in handy with the Optishot that also has a no ball swing option.

The way I see it is the settings aren't going to ever be 100% for everyone across the board. I am sure we could all agree that Optishot gives unrealistic numbers for woods/hybrids for most of us. I think we just need to get it close and if someone is having specific issues then they could provide proof and given an exception.

If someone is really going to cheat they will find a way. Before my woods were taped, I was hitting 360yrd drives with 137mph SS and the next a 71 yrd drive with a 28mph SS. That would have been caught in the recording though and raised some flags.

Absolutely love this !!

W can always do the comparison from foam to real but if we can as near a perfect for real ball and no ball based on flightscope that will be brilliant

Another testing session with Aurin and he yet again confirms 93 S 88 D is good for Foam Ball Stock turf

HOWEVER

Something very interesting came upo which I hadnt even considered.... LOFT SETTING

Initially his distance were all short, ratio down at 2.3

Checked settings and IRL he hits 8.5 driver, So h had it set on optishot as that. This severely REDUCED his distance

Set it at standard 10.5 and ratio up at 2,41, which is pretty close, and acceptable to him as due to his high swing speeds it was the speed being slighlty too high that brought the ratio down, but the yardages were spot on when using the Speed from his external measuring device

So I tried my best on getting some pictures of my stats today. Took a couple of pictures and at the end of the round was hoping they would have a average but unfortunately they didn't.

So after talking with the owner on a couple things I have found out that the HD simulator uses no sensors but it's all by light where record up to 2500fps. What I also ask was if there was a boost. And the owner said absolutely not. He states what you get for yardage and distance is in the top 3 of any simulators out there. The owner tried 7 different simulators before buying 4 of these simulators for his business. So then I ask the owner to verify what other guys have said. And they all said other then the short game is spot on and that's what I find out also. So not sure if it will change the minds on my numbers on which I know I priduce every shot. Now a little about me. I'm not a weekend warrior. In the summer I golf everyday and spend hours on the driving range with gadgets like swing tip and cameras, so I know what I'm saying is quite accurate. But like I said even with the little proof I have I hope guys will think I'm not a 1 time knock off.

So hopefully this will clear things up. I did the best I can on getting pictures but it's kind of hard when you have 3 other guys trying to swing and money on the line when we play skins.

8.5. I use a old ping driver ist. Only driver that will pick up the club with tape on.

Wanna hit it 320 with these new settings... Just set to 20loft... Or actually... Don't.. Nobody should tinker with lofts... But that is what would happen. Take my word for it.

That's why I had the loft adjusted 1 click on the setting. I find the ball flight was to low to my actuall flight IRl

What is the loft on your driver?

I use a Ping G10 7.5* loft driver and have set my OptiShot to 7.5* as well. My swing results have been close (10-15 yards short) to real life.

Are we leaning towards a fixed loft of 10.5*?
