As a regular member I am asking for the boards input on this before we send it to the board for consideration.

It has been a couple days now since we (JohnMeyer and myself) have asked for the boards input on the negative handicap issue. So far, I don't believe we have received a response.

This "I don't want to bias anyone" is causing a disconnect from the board and the members and personally I don't like that. I would rather see us ALL work together and come up with solutions to the problems.

Buckeye, enough is enough. They've already stated they are reviewing it.

The board is currently reviewing the draft guidelines and the current handicap system. We are doing our best to work thru them and implement something final before we head intto "Season 2".

Hey everybody! Just wanted to let ya know in case you want to try out a GC2 and get an accurate capture of your real swing speed and distance.

I went to Dicks Sporting Goods store and in the golf section I talked to one of the guys there. Asked them what software and hardware they use for club fitting. He said he wasn't sure and took me in the back room and showed me. I said, that's a GC2! I asked him if he minded if I could hit some drives and find out what my swing speed was. He was nice and let me hit for about 15 minutes.

That was the 1st time hitting on a GC2. It was very nice and let me say very accurate! I was swinging between 96 - 100 MPH and averaging 248 yards.

So if anybody has a Dick's Sporting Goods store nearby or similar golf store go there and try it out! If you want to increase your speeds that would be a good place to bring a friend or have the guy video you swinging and then show the video screen afterward.

            Just wanted to share!

Very happy with this, just confirms our ratio settings are pretty close

                Clubset Settings

                1. Players Driver settings MUST be set the to following, dependant on the ball and turf type they are using.

                d. Foam Ball, Thick Turf - 100% Speed, 88% Distance... Note May need to tee lower to get accurate swing speed.

                e. No Ball Setting - 100% Speed 88% Distance ......................

                2. Players MUST set the Loft Setting of all clubs to the loft of the club they are physically hitting

                3. If using a 3 wood instead of Driver due to Height Restrictions Use Identical settings to those you would normally use as per your ball and turf setup above.

                4. 3 wood and 5 wood MUST NOT exceed Speed 100% Distance 100% . Players can always adjust lower.

                5. Players Irons MUST be set to achieve real world distances and both Speed% and Distance % settings may be altered up or down to achieve the correct distances.

                6. Players may set the Putter Speed % Setting between 80% and 100% to reflect there real life Putting stroke. The Distance % MUST remain at 100%

How is the determination for "Real World" Irons going to be monitored for people who up the percentage to hit a club a certain distance? Is it going to be similar to individuals who need to up percentages to achieve "Real World" wood distances?

As those who have watched my Maui video will be aware I have to increase distances in my irons anywhere from 10% on long irons to 20% on wedges to get my distances true to real life.

I'm not sure why they are so far out, perhaps because of the clubs I use IRL (deep red tour irons) are very long but only way to give me a true reflection of my real life yardage.

It's s tricky one as no doubt done would argue that at say 145 yards (a nine iron for me both IRL and also now on optishot) it's easier for me to hit a 9 rather than a 8/7 which without the settings change optishot would have me hit

I don't know the answer here really, as irons can vary so much between players, and are far more dependants on angle of attack etc etc

Unless it gets silly with people hitting 9i in from 180 yards, which would be picked up on monitoring I'm not sure how best to go about it.

I think as long as the range of yardages tally up, roughly 10y / club separation and fit in with drivers distances, eg be off if someone drove 240 but 9i was 190 then I think just gotta be sensible about it.

When checking people's videos will just have to have a look when club settings show and make a judgement as best we can.

Hey John , my stock 100 yards is a SW and 150 flush is an 8 iron. I needed to boost my short irons about 12 % and my long ones about 8 % off the thick turf. Any bit of a downward strike and you lose clubhead speed for sure !!

I just installed my thick turf on the optishot. I'll see if it makes a difference for me.

I do have the steepest swing in history lol, so that may well be the cause, that and my irons are damn long, if you have a read here you will see how long they can be lol. Think some of the claim in the comments are a bit exaggerated but they are damn long compared to some peoples normal irons http://thesandtrap.com/b/clubs/wilson_deep_red_irons

IRL 9 iron is 145, 8 iron 155 etc etc , as an average and my club settigns give this perfectly at the moment

Im a bit worried now as have got a jagmanjoe top coming from the USA, so hoping it doesnt kill yardages even more but as you can imagine with my steep swing my stock turf is getting a bit of a pummeling

I did various testing with different clubs and averaged a 5mph. swing speed difference between the stock turf and the thick turf. This did not include the driver or woods. Definitely a difference with swing speed and that affects distance. Not sure if the math gurus would be able to see what the 5 mph would do as far as distance.

Ive made a little excel spreadsheet where you enter your Driver Swing Speed in the yellow box and will give you some general distances and speeds to be expected for your irons

I apprecate this is not gospel as will of course vary by lots of factors I couldnt calculate, (dynamic loft, angle of attack etc) but when compared to the Trackman data I based it all off you'll see when you put in the Swing Speed to match the Trackman Data the table is based off then it gives pretty close results, so hopefully will give a rough guide of what sort of yardages you should be getting.

Be interesting how these compare to what you get in real life, the carry distances are pretty good. Rollout calculations will of course always vary due to conditions, so Id pay closer attention to the carry numbers for obvious reasons

Hope someone finds it of use

                              Edit

Another useful little site, when setting everything to average again makes the calc figures seem pretty good.
