"Player's" Driver recommendation

I've recently switched to Ping S56 irons to force myself to learn to groove my swing better by using a slightly less forgiving style of club. looking for a recommendation from some of our better players for the same type of thing in a driver to use at the range , what are you guys using ? I'm hitting an old ping Rapture driver. Is there such a thing as a "player's" driver or do they all provide a fairly large amount of forgiveness nowadays. I guess I could always go back to the smaller steel headed driver, lol . Just looking for something as a training aid. Thoughts ???

I think the Ping I Series Drivers are pretty unforgiving. Think they are the sort of clubs where if you hit it well you benefit, but swing flaws and you could be in trouble. If thats the kind of thing youre after..

Think the i20 was supposed to be bit easier than the i15, so depending on budget perhaps the older you go the harder to hit.. i dunno.

I tried to hit an i15 Driver once... and the fact I never hit it again maybe speaks volumes, but then I play off 18 for a reason

You'd be hard pressed to find more of a Player's Driver than the Bridgestone J40. It's widely regarded as one of the lowest spinning heads out there. It comes in 445 and even 430 cc sizes, so it's smaller and much less forgiving. They've been out a few years now so might can find one used on the cheap.

If you are like me and want to stick with Ping, then the i series is the harder and less forgiving club. I have a g20 driver as well as an i25 and the g series is definitely more forgiving although I'm pretty sure that my i25 would be more forgiving than the 430 cc driver mentioned above. What I can say there is definitely a reward for hitting the i25 driver though, but it's lack of forgiveness is why it is still not permanently in my bag (that and I still enjoy hitting my pink driver).

I have an old Bob Rosburg persimmon driver with a steel shaft if you want something incredibly unforgiving...

I've tried hitting a newer driver I shafted up with a steel shaft and hit it very consistently, due to the extra weight

I've played the I15 for years a player's club for sure. I like it but you have to hit it solid. Don't think you going to a harder to hit driver will help you at all. Find something that spins for what you need and gives you the launch you need. Only thing I found that could kick out the ping for me was the titleist 915d3 with whiteboard. It's very low spin like ping just picked it up yesterday

Was looking for more of a practice club than a gamer,kind of a "if you can hit this club you can hit anything idea" I've done it in the past with old Hogan irons , really help me improve my ballstriking quickly. I'm pretty happy with how I hit my driver , pretty consistent in the fairway , just thinking about different things to try to bump it up a notch, always room to improve. Playing blades is a little different though. I started with ben hogan apex blades and I'm sure it helped me some but, drivers aren't going to really do anything to help you improve your ballstriking. If you are a low spin player and you go out and buy one of these "player drivers" then you try all these things to launch it higher so it doesn't just fall out of the sky you could be ingraining some bad habbits. Lessons and video are the way to go if you really wanna improve. Take the money and buy a decent video camera over the driver is my opinion

Or if you have a current flagship smartphone, it probably has video recording in 240 fps, and does a decent job in low level light. Iphone 6....Samsung S5...etc.
