Thank you Stingreye. I checked this and the audio is set on HDMI. This projector only has 14 hours on it so I would think that the speakers and audio should be in working order.

I don't think the projector is broken, my guess was that there was a setting in it we might be missing. You verified the sound on the audio sub menu is turned up and that the mute box is not checked....
Have you been able to get the projector to output audio from another source such as a dvd/ blu ray player or maybe a Roku or something?
If you can't figure it out as a last resort you can get an audio cable that goes from the laptop headphone jack to the audio input on the projector. You would just need a long cord with headphone plug on each end (something like this https://www.amazon.com/Cord-2-4M-Ult...ne%2Bcord&th=1 ).
We should be able to get it to work for you using the audio over HDMI but I wanted to let you know in an absolute worst case scenario, we should be able to get audio to the projector via a workaround.Comment

Thanks again Stingreye for the replies. I just might get this cable and see if that fixes it. If the cable doesn't work then I'll just get a HDMI spliter and use the sound from the TV. Do you think that will work? Thanks againComment

out of curiosity, do you have an old set of computer speakers collecting dust? Especially if they are the 2.1 audio where there is a sub and two smaller satelite speakers? We can rig that up and save you the cost of the cable and the bonus is that it would likely sound better than most tv and projector speakers.
I still think we should be able to get the sound out of the projector. You are able to get it to output a test tone to the tv. So we know you are doing that part correctly. It makes me go back to the projector settings: Don't trust the remote control's mute button. Go into the audio submenu and make sure that mute check box is not checked. Also make sure the volume is turned up there. Again don't rely on the remote control when you hit the mute button on it. Verify that audio sub menu the mute is not checked and toggle it to verify what the check actually means.Comment

Thank you again for trying to help me get sound out of my projector. I tried connecting a set of speakers to the projector and that didn't help. I went into the menu and tried to get a test sound from every mute setting both on and off and that didn't help. I think I am back to getting a cable and running it from the headphone jack on the computer to the projector and seeing if that works. I was reading that a HDMI splitter from the computer to both the TV and the projector might not work if I try to run both units at the same time. I would really like to get this working because I would like to watch some football on the screen someday. Thanks again.Comment

If you are trying to use an hdmi splitter, I have read many reviews where a lot of these devices can not output sound to both locations. If you haven't done so, I would suggest using a single hdmi cable from computer to projector and first see if you are getting sound out of the projector.

I read the same thing and that is why I don't think I will buy a splitter to try to solve the problem. I am using a HDMI cable from the computer to the projector now and can't get any sound out of the projector.Originally posted by wbond View PostComment

I have a couple jacks in my projector are you plugged into the right one , trying to trouble shoot this with you is difficult are you able to send pics of these at all. try plugging in a tv or monitor and see if you can get sound with picture that way if you can off the hdmi then we can start looking into the projector issue.Comment

Thank you for staying with me on this problem. I know it must be hard to help someone who is not a computer person. The front of my projector is here on page 14, http://www.projectorcentral.com/pdf/...anual_3823.pdf I bought headphone cables and connected the computer headphone slot to the projector audio in slot. Nothing happened. When I ran a test on the computer sound, if the cable was plugged in no sound, if the cable was not plugged in I got sound. Does this help? You need to change the audio input to be something other than hdmi. It might get be aux in or something I will check the manual to the specific language .Originally posted by babyboomerboy
On your laptop, start some music up that is playing. Do you have headphones? Plug them in while it's playing, laptop should stop playing and it will come out the headphone. If that works, then plug the audio cable you go into your projector. If no sound find that audio input menu on the projector and switch it to the various options until you get sound.

I've been out of town and didn't have a chance to try this until this morning. Didn't work. While I was gone I began to think more and more that the problem is in the projector itself. I plan to take it to a computer shop and have them check it out. We have tired every combination on the menu for both the lap top and the projector and get nothing but video. Whereas when I plug in the TV using the HDMI cable I get both sound and video. I hope to get the projector back before I have to leave again for Thanksgiving to be with the family in Florida. I honestly have never even heard of the projector you are using and when I saw it in your attachment I backed out of the help on this one.. I know its in your possession but I am a person who first judge what my time is worth and apply it to most everything I do include in that thought what I purchase on ease of use and quality of product and from what I have seen so far on that basis on a time versus product value that projector is going on well over 1000.00 dollars with more being spent as you are now taking it in servicing and picking it up. its your time to use how you see fit but just saying that it might have been less expensive spending more money on the front end on a quality projector that others on this forum have put in great rating on using for there sim. if you are seeking any advice on this, here is mine look at the optoma or ben q upgrade versus a manufacturer instead of one that is known for sticky notes and tape products if it works beautiful if not you have the receipt and can always take back.Comment
