Took a rewind in my first round today. Had a 28ish yard bunker shot that was quite a bit uphill and hit my normal high lofted 60 degree. Solid shot that came out very high. Registered 90 backspin and ran for days. Don't think that's possible. You guys be the judge.
Luckily I made a couple bogies during the round and didn't have a bogey free round tainted by a rewind. Loving the course just made a couple mistakes late in the round to ruin a really good one. Looking forward to the next 2.
Thanks Gary. No problem on the rewinds....especially with chipping. I have all sorts of issues chipping and I generally do loft them quite high. Wondering if that may be something that's happening with me too. Some of them I loft high and they go like 1ft off ground and scream across green. It's so weird but ya, not a huge deal. I had my first full shot rewind as well that wasn't attributed to my ball falling through the texture map. I smoked a hybrid and it hit right in middle of screen where the rest of my shots went but the game had it screaming left about 2ft off ground. No way that's where the ball went. Rewinded and hit a huge slice.....now that's more like it. 😀
Great course Rsuslow!!!! Really enjoyed playing the same course as the pros this week at the Open. Took one rewind on #5. Who da thought a stray ball going by the laser would make it fire off...
Awesome course. If there isn't another tournament here for a couple years I'd add it to the rotation to fall all back on. I took one rewind. Had a shot from the sand which I hit perfect on a par 5 and it went 6 inches.
Thanks. I need to keep my streak of gross majors wins alive. Real golf gets in the way of playing tgc every week but thanks to rsuslow I got to play and watch the final round of the us open at the same time. I saw you making a surge in the final round but just missed a couple birdie putts down the stretch. At one point I only had you by one and I was one behind cooke. I love playing with your ghost because our games so similar.
I had 2 back to back rewinds from a sand bunker on the par 5 for exact same reason. Can't remember hole but it was crazy long and I was in the left bunker. Hit 2 great shots out and both didn't move.
Great 66 round though man. That's big boy golf there. I could have squeezed a couple more shots out of my 69 rounds but that's 67 max. Great playing
Whats all this talk of REWINDS? Do you mean to say if you dont like a shot you can re play it?? Surely not!?!
But then I also see you can add speed boosts and set whatever green speeds you want too. I'd love to boost my ball speed up to 180mph but cant see how anyone would feel good about themselves doing that.........
Surely all of this shouldn't be allowed in tournaments!
Rewinds are used when the simulator hardware has a misread. I had one in this tournament on my fifth shot of the third round. My ball was sitting in the GC2 field of view when I reached for my tee laying in front of the GC2. The flash goes off and it registers a 58 degree horizontal launch angle, 1.7 mph ball speed, 1 degree launch angle, and 0.5 yard carry. Surely you aren't suggesting that I should be hitting two from half a yard in front of the tee box?
As far as boosting, there is a 5% max for tournaments. I'm not sure if there is a way for the tournament moderators to check that or not. It is supposed to be available to try and match your outdoor distances. I don't use it but I don't care if someone adds 10 yards to their drives. No matter what sim golf, and real golf for that matter, has a large amount of the honor system in play. To play in tournaments you have to have all of your shots recorded where anyone can view them, so that is supposed to deter rampant cheating too.
+/- 5% is allowed. If you're at ball speeds above 175 that boost will get you above 180pmh. I know you guys don't allow Mulligans at JNPG but some hardware gives off really bad readings sometimes and we allow the players to be responsible just like in real golf. Shot recording allows me and Keither to see all rewinds and if someone hits one with say 700rpm of left spin hooking it into a hazard, they'll have to explain and likely face DQ and possible ban. If someone has a ball go a foot from picking up a tee, we are happy. That's what the rewind is for. It's the same as if you knock your ball off the tee in really golf. It's not 2 from the ground beside the tee.
Personally I've only ever had 1 rewind. I hit a perfect pitch that went 8 degrees left. I'm pretty sure it didn't. I have a GC2. If everyone had GC2's, we might lock down rewinds. My one rewind didn't matter. Still made bogie and I regret it because I can no longer say 0 rewinds.
As for boost, there's ways to tell. Someone hitting a 5 iron 160 isn't hitting a driver 330.
Lol. Your concerns are valid. Speed boosts are not allowed but in hopes of balancing out the use of different launch monitors and sim setups, 5% max boost is allowed on all clubs. Rewinds are allowed to alleviate random issues with monitor reads, glitches, balls falling through the game texture map, etc. Some have issues with certain finishes on wedges where the launch monitor picks up a shine off the finish and reports wonky results. Golf is a game of honesty and sim golf is no different. There's times when the launch monitor will read say 2000 backspin on a chip and a ball will look like on the green that it had 10000 rpm top spin. Just random stuff like that happens. The idea is to make the sim golf as close to real life as possible.
I wonder if there is a glitch in the bunker or something. I also had a shot on a long par five out of a fairway bunker that moved a couple inches. I was not near a face or anything and had plenty of height on the ball. I did NOT take a rewind though. Hit a very similar shot again and no problem coming out. Didn't make a difference as i doubt i'll get in all the rounds anyway.
