I played 2 rounds today, exhausting!

Very tough course. Long par 4s, tiny fairways with bunkers that swallow up everything.

I think links courses are the worst in TGC due to greens that seem rock hard. Low runners just run through the green, no chance of stopping. This course has so many long par 4s that I was hitting hybrids into most greens. No chance of hitting a green with those clubs in TGC.

I liked the course though, even though it is way too hard for my ability. It plays and looks really nice.

I agree the greens are way to hard. I was lots of 4,5,6 irons into greens and they just don't hold. Even 8,9 irons would rollout a ton. I ended up just trying to land short of the green and hope for a good roll

That's just how the Open courses play, have you not watched the pros hit short of the green because the greens are fast and hard. I think it adds a new dimension. They do not play like US courses.......

I am fine with the greens being hard and fast as long as there are proper run ups in front of the greens and the fringe areas allow this. If the fringes bite and don't roll out equally then you have an unplayable course. I have not played the course yet, just adding to the conversation. We played a course recently that had greens that would not hold and most were protected with bunkers short of the green. Not fun...

Exactly on point Gary. Links course style of greens are great when played on a proper links course. Links style greens do not belong on a course like say TPC Saw Grass at 7200 yards.

Somehow pulled off the same score in round 2 but it was ugly. Had a rewind on a 9' putt from the fringe that went about 40' and off the green, still ended up with a 3 putt bogey so really no help.
Tried to play more fades into the green this round and helped a bit holding the greens. I'm not a fader of the ball by any means so not sure it really helped.

Not on the tour (yet), but had my first round of TGC at this course on the weekend. Shot 100. Leaked a lot of shots working out greens in TGC (and just terrible chipping technique), but to be honest hit the ball pretty average overall too. Tried again last night, got 91. Don't think I improved in chipping much at all, but putting and ball striking were both improved. It was a long round though. Had a lot of non-reads, including 5x 3 woods in a row. The body starts to ache a bit doing this. Chips too, hitting it in the air 3 times, only to have the first bladed chip register. I rewound a couple of those to be honest. Also need to get rid of those bladed chips.

Anyway, really looking forward to the tour, even if I am about 70-80y short of where the pros hit it.

My Internet went down on the second hole and it didn't save my scorecard of a 6 on the first hole. However, I was purposely missing shots to get a 6 and managed to get a 7.

I had a crazy rewind. Hitting a 3 hybrid from deep rough and it went 275 yards. I thought finally this thing has improved my game to where I am a pro but I soon realized it was a missread

Ouch, had a 9 on hole 8. Happy Gilmore putting style.

Well, it looks like my golf simulation days are over.

Had a bone head thing happen, completely my fault.

Hit a bad shot, flipped my club in front of me like I do on the course, missed it like I do on the course and it landed directly on my Skytrak. Housing opened up a bit, cracked the top, had to snap pieces back together.

I'll keep trying it again, but I don't have high hopes and I can't afford to get a new one.

My rounds were no good anyway.

I may send it back to Skytrak and see what they can do. So all may not be lost except a few hundred? I hope....
