  • Number of Players Competing Weekly

Noticed the number of folks completing last week was around 120. Fantastic to see. I know there are peaks and troughs but I'd love to see the tour grow to the point of 100+ weekly and beyond.

I know it takes work to administer but I wonder if 2019 will bring some additional weekly events perhaps in a different format. 9 hole events or nearest the pins or something.

I know this point is thrown in the face of TGC when comparing with other softwares. We've knocked off multi tees and now rewinds. Sounds like boost might be next.

Feels like we are really making strides at the moment

I think ghost balls show the boosted shots.......I can't see many guys with ball speeds higher or launch conditions better than mine but i regular struggle to keep up with some folks.

Every shot you take in the tour sends the data, including the 'boost' you set, to our servers.
So we can check this if needed, although we rather trust everyone not to use more than that is allowed.

If so does the same apply to ghost balls or do they actually show the boosted ball speed and distance?

Ghost balls are inside tgc but recorded data is not so I'm thinking ghost balls will show the boosted values because when I look at the SDK for tgc it does not have a boost parameter as input, only ball speed.

I'm just trying to understand what is actually happening rather than make assumptions.
On a GC2 or Skytrak yes. I'm 100% sure on GC2. On a sensor system the boost is added before shot data. I'm pretty sure on that.

No one would boost an iron I don't think so I get a feel for boost based on that. Someone that hit's an 8iron 150 likely has 150 BS on driver.

Like I've said before shot data is like the seeing the matrix for me.

OK thx. I was wondering about the gc2 since boost is applied so early in the process (in gsx) I wasn't sure if raw data would be visible to the shot recording system.

If the servers are capturing the boost percentage is there a way to include that data in the recorded shot history?

I think that's a common theme on some of these threads.

This tournament the average of my 10 fastest ball speed was over 157 to dg1983 155. I played a fade that got away as a slice sometimes. While those speeds are decent they aren't special. If you want to see fast look at thunder golf. He hits over 170 ball speed consistently!!! I would have to over swing to touch 165. For me 170 is untouchable and mid 160s uncontrollable.

It is pretty awesome how many people are playing on this sim tour. I think this is just the tip of the iceberg.

                Oh dg1983

I do owe you an apology for questioning your ghost a couple tournaments ago. I was trying to give your ghost an arse whooping and multiple times your first putts would go 20 + feet past the hole and then you would get a 20ft gimmie not having to make the one coming back. I was getting real frustrated and was unable to catch you. Being a newbie, I put mthunt and keither on your trail. I also had triplebogiesrbetter play your ghost. I kind of wasted all their time. It seems that whatever I was seeing wasn't correct and was glitching on my end. I was like this guy has no touch. The other ghosts were fine it was just your ghost blowing putts ridiculous distances by on my screen and getting auto 2 putts.

Anyhow it didn't make sense that a player of your skill would have such horrible touch. Definitely glitching on my end.

                Not doubting dg's play again

Bob is spot on with putting speed. Mine is set a touch slower than default so might explain it.

Now now now, Mr Wizard......I'm all for self policing......I could forgive mthunt and keither......but no one needs triplebogey on their case.....talk about rolling the big guns out. As for giving my ghost a whopping - IT'S ON! I normally ghost with the leaders but I'll keep a special little slot reserved for your ghost......

Always interests me some of the high ball speed players, how they manage to get 170+. I've only ever seen 166 on my skytak. I'm speed stick training so hopefully see my averages creep up.

My friend will be joining the tour soon, he will average mid 160s and is a very good golfer, way better than me.

I play with a 5% boost on my driver. I’m in Utah at 4500ft. My sim distances are on par with real life distances. However, I understand the courses we play are not the same elevation and would reflect if I were playing them for real. I’ll remove the boost. Just have to take one more iron on second shot. No bigee.

What happens if you are using Almost Balls and you set your protee interface up for that? Are you basically adding more boost than allowed?

You are allowed to boost 5% and no more. Any more is cheating. If you want more ball speed than Almost gives you, don't use them. Kind of a direct answer but it's the rule. I find Almost is 10% short.

Ghosts are interesting......I normally ghost with players that carry similar to me......play last and see how they get on with there lines before I decide to cut a corner or take on a carry .

Ie bradford looks good on that line over the trees, I'll go with that.......or coz is in the water, I'll lay up

                  Allowed?

Thanks for not saying Bradford in the water! But I do the same when I can. Kind of similar to match play where guys can play off of their opponent.

Coz played for the trees opposite the water this last tournament but still found water like twice on approach and once off the tee. I never know when it is playing like a hazard or playing O.B.

Definitely allowed that's the whole point of ghosts isn't it? I found some pretty cool shortcuts by watching ghosts earlier this season. The problem for me is ive played many of these tournaments on Friday night and not many ghosts are available yet. Im like a kid in a candy shop and can't wait til Friday and then have to wait all week for the next tournament to start.

I wouldn't recommend following my ghost into the H20.
                  Hit em well mate
