  • No Driver Society (TGC19)

I created a society called “No Driver Society” with the idea of selecting weekly courses of 5500-6000 yards.

I don’t use driver inside and I know some others don’t as well so 7000 yard courses can be annoying. Of course if you hit driver 230 yards or so, that’s fine, fire away.

Protee rules (no rewind, 6ft gimmes)
    18 holes only.
    No wind. No boost.
    Very soft greens.
    Moderate green speeds.

if you’re interested in this idea, please check it out. If enough join and play I’ll extend the schedule.

Jan. 21 - Jan. 27: Caves Valley at 5800 yards.
Jan. 28 - Feb. 3: Pebble Beach at 5800 yards.

Click the schedule (or events I can’t recall) and click the event. From there you’ll see the leaderboard on the right and the event description on the left. Click the event on your left and you’ll be in.

Definitely will have to check this out, getting tired of hitting driver then 3 wood on almost every hole, although I will say that my 3 wood has become one of the best clubs in my bag, haha.

Agree, especially #12 I think it was, but had fun anyway. Hope more people join to keep it going, it was nice to use more than Driver, 3 wood, wedge, and putter for a change.

Why aren't guys using Driver in their sim? I'm just getting ready to install mine and this is the first I've heard of this.

Low ceilings generally. Some just aren’t crazy about the noise. I can swing driver, but I mentally start getting flat and I don’t want it to affect my game since my driving outdoors is solid. So 2 hybrid is the most I swing inside now.

Short courses can provide more good birdie looks, too, which is never a bad thing for us amateurs!

some people dont have the ceiling height. I personally do but just barely.

I design courses with the simulator in mind. My early attempts were done before I had TGC2019 on my simulator so I am revamping those. Most of them are unpublished as yet but if there is significant interest I will release a few. Unless a green is tiered you won't find red on it and would be hard pressed to find yellow in any central area. My tees are for average drives of 181, 205, 232, 258, & 284 as these go with swing speeds of 70, 80, 90, 100 & 110. If you hit it further than that, play pro tee united. You won't find a 400 yd par 4 from any of my short tees. You WILL find sand and water, LOL.

I will also be revising Desert Valley Golf & Ski soon. The 17th green is too small.
