  • Winter Match Play Challenge 1/29 - 3/2

18 holes double elimination/consolation match play tournament. Month long but no real deadline. Will run concurrent with other tournaments.
It will be seeded by the current points standings. Starts after the Abu Dhabi Championship. 6 different courses will be used, one for each stage.

    Here's how it will work:

You will set up the game as stroke play, because the game does not figure in our hdcp's.
Enter your scores in mleaderboard as usual.
We are playing all 18 holes. Stroke play, one on one match.
If there's a tie after 18, then use the scorecard to figure out the winner. Start with hdcp #1 hole.

Or if you and your opponent choose to play your match as match play, subtract your hdcps. Then give the strokes to the higher hdcp guy, starting with #1 INDX hole. i.e. a 10 is playing a 5. 10-5=5

The 10 hdcp will get 5 strokes starting with #1 INDX hole. On the scorecard, the winner of the hole will enter a 1 for that hole. The loser of the hole do

  • Figuring out a hdcp for a new guy is not easy. New guys will usually shoot higher than normal because they might still be tweaking their setups or figuring out the settings. Once they do, their scores will drop big. I have to guess and try to predict some times.

Yep- i can see that- I think 13 was a good round number for me to start with-- I dont see why I wont be able to shoot better soon- now that ive had the system for a couple months- my scores should start coming down. (crosses fingers)
I figured out another thing since ive been away from golf for over 5 years-
Been playing in bands alot and thats why I gave up golf- I am all misaligned because of this - my left foot is turned inward from being up to a microphone with guitar pedals at my feet- I usually have to turn my left foot inward for lack of room-and now its fixed that way when Im standing -I noticed if i dont over exaggerate a follow through i will push the ball to the right- all du

        • Just finished an absolutely wonderful round with Jeremiah. Unfortunately I lost but it was neck and neck until 17 when he pulled ahead. J, great playing and good luck to all of whos left. Lots of fun!!

          • I had a feeling it would be a close one. You both shot well.

            • Yes we did. I miss hit an iron on 17 and plunked in the aqua. Just a bad shot. That cost me the match. J played well though. Very steady.

              • Yeah bubba, I was really surprised you hit that in the water. You had been super consistent with your approaches all day. It was a fun match for sure! Thanks again.

                • Possible for those who haven't played their first round to get a move on? Otherwise this thing is going to grind to a halt.

                  • Pades and I will get ours in this weekend hopefully. Had some business travel and evening work schedules complicating it.

                    • fyi...the round between Tharn and Mcook in the lower bracket will happen this weekend or Mon/Tues. I'm out of town all week and home this weekend with Mon/Tues off. You all have a good week.

                      • It was a nail bitter. Came down to the last hole. I thought I let it slip away. But then when MM tried to stretch a 7 iron into the 18th green he pulled it just enough to land in the creek. I had him down by 4 after 9 and was feeling pretty good. Then he slipped a birdie in on me and just never let up, got himself back in the hunt, and tied it up with another birdie on 17.

This is one tough course. I played several practice rounds and never could put anything together. I carded some horrendous scores. This was my best round on the course so far.

Thanks for the round MM nice to finally play with you. Good luck.

                          • Has it been decided what courses stage 5 and 6 are going to be? Not that it looks like we will need them anytime soon but would be nice to get some rounds in just in case we get there.

                              • You have beat up on me enough.... Let someone else have a chance....lol

And by the way have you seen my scores lately? Your not the only one who is having a tough time.

These courses are really hard to figure out. One course the rough is one club and the next it is two clubs. But the good thing is I am playing fairly well when I need to so I guess I can't complain to much.

But good luck on your match.
