I think its generally easier to hole out but you still need to hit a good shot. In real golf I have chipped in many shots. I have had >10 hole outs from 70 yards or farther and 2 hole in ones. In Sim I have a lot less and no hole in ones.

Plus, there's no wind. It's easier. I've had a few hole outs over100 in real life and only 1 in a sim.My Courses:

I think one thing that helps my chip ins is the 6' gimme rule. I typically simply just try to hit it reasonably close and don't worry so much of hitting it perfect.
I've been using urethene balls when playing TGC which I don't use on the course. I notice a lot of grab on the greens for my well struck shots. I don't know if I'll see similar performance in real life but I'm certainly going to try them once the weather gets warmer. Both of my hole outs bounced just short of the hole, took one bounce and then very slowly rolled in. I feel in real life both of those shots would have rolled hard to the back of the green but again it could simply be the balls I've used in the past.

I don't think you'll see that behavior IRL. I still feel that there is way too much grab when chipping to the TGC greens. Even hitting a very low spin shot it will check up and die quickly.

Depends on real life greens you play....but, urethane balls always check/spin more than surlyn cover balls. It's why theyre more expensive.
I do agree the check on TGC is more than usual, but not way more than normal than what I see using ProVs IRL. If protee didnt set the greens on medium firmness and medium speed, you see them roll out more. And you'd probably see people complaining that the greens are rolling out too much...

OK, OK, I give up!
I think the fact that you fellas are discussing which balls react which way should answer my question, but maybe if you are discussing balls, spin etc. could I suggest that you just state that you have a GC2, because, correct me if I'm wrong, ProTee could almost care less what ball you are striking! (I have a ProTee.)
And please don't take this as being rude on my part.

Correct ProTee doesn't measure spin. If you use the use vcam for spin in the interface, it calculates spin based on the ball numbers. That way you don't have to select a club. The reaction of TGC green is no different than real life. Different courses will have different green responses.

Bubba,
I think that you should take the prize. You had some great rounds on a very hard course. I still have nightmares about that certain par 3.
Thanks ProTee, Bubba, and whoever else organizes the tour. It's a lot of fun. The prizes were a nice added touch.

I agree that Bubba deserves 3rd place...I certainly didn't earn it...I was 5 over on a 118 yd par 3 for goodness sake.
Merry Christmas to all.

Merry Christmas guys. Thanks for the words but I only think its fair I am not included in any prize money. I am organizing the events etc so I really want to be left out when there is money/prizes involved. Its only fair. I absolutely still love playing though. We will continue to make the tour better as the new year comes.
Changes will include addition of wind for certain events, Net/Gross leaders, TGCcloud tour site with current leaderboard/stats/winneres etc., and more. We encourage online play with others and Teamspeak info will be posted on the tour site in the new year but understandably we are all busy so solo play or play with ghost players is welcome. If any tour players have suggestions or want certain things added please pm me or we can start a thread. Have a nice xmas and a happy new year!
