I got that (long wait, no movement) a couple of times in the past. If it happened when you're on the green, the grid dots won't flow, etc. I am in Asia, so I could never be sure which parts of the network may be congested, or if it was due to server bandwidth. In any case, data could be lost and restart sometimes gets it going again.

I second the mulligan thing. I know people have said a low duck hook goes shorter than it should so they rewind. It's posted here. Essentially they take a mulligan on a bad shot instead of sucking it up. The ball is only short an an extremely poor strike and then gets replaced by a good one. I don't know anything about floor sensors but I can't see a reason for mulligans to exist with a gc2.Originally posted by goatbarn View PostI agree. Lock in wind or not by tournament. Not user.
I'd like gc2 users to not have mulligans. Or only allowed on shots without all data measured or carry under 1 foot, for shots detected from moving ballMy Courses:

With respect to mulligans, I have the ProTee sensor and there are times when there are obvious misreads. I can recall 4 cases where I would not hesitate to re-wind, even in a tournament.
I have had a few 300 yard drives, which have been obvious misreads, as the club speed was shown as 135 mph or something similar. I rewound and re-hit.
Also had a lob wedge go 146 yds on a 1/4 swing. Re-wind.
Third case is peculiar to my set-up. My wedges are shiny and sometimes the horizontal camera gets confused and picks up the club going left and has the ball going something like 10 degrees left, even though the flop or chip went straight. I re-wind in that case also.
Lastly, I recently hit a couple of 3-woods (that were well struck) that went 4 inches. Re-wind.
With the sensor system there are times when there are obvious mis-reads and re-winding is the only remedy.

Right, and I used to own a Protee and know that mulligans are necessary with that hardware. But for GC2 owners, we shouldn't need them only for shots that launch from moving the ball on our mats...which has only happened to me maybe 3 times total.
So I would propose that mulligans are set by hardware used via tournament settings and not user settings too. Maybe force wind on/off and force mulligans on/off depending on tournament settings/hardware.

I concur. GC2 users do not need mulligans. Also wind should be on permantelyOriginally posted by goatbarn View PostRight, and I used to own a Protee and know that mulligans are necessary with that hardware. I have a GSA system and have to occasionally rewind. Almost every time it has been due to a ball rolling into the field of view. If you don't get it out by the time your shot is finished, It will register a shot while retrieving the ball. The very odd time that I try a 4 or 5 yard chip, it may register a negative launch angle and show as a duff. I also rewind when that happens. If I pay attention, I can go 7 or 8 rounds without having to rewind. I vote for wind on. It adds to the game. I would be ok if mulligans were turned off.

I do think we need mulligans for those really obvious misreads. So we want wind on for the rest of the year?

Maybe I can offer a suggestion that might or might not be worthwhile.
1. Disable Mulligans completely.
2. Record tournament rounds using OBS.
3. If you have a mis-read or feel something happened that shouldn't of, document the time in the game. Post your video and let a mod or someone decide and have the score altered. In other, play the shot, take the score, then apply for an assessment.
To me mulligans are to easy to take especially when your in a tight competition. I think in tournaments it should be no different than any other tournament.........ask for a ruling. Just my 2 centsLast edited by luv2golf; 01-17-2016, 03:16 AM.

Re: Wind - I guess that depends on what determines the strength of the wind. This course was fine. With ProTee we were getting guys playing in 5 mph and others playing in 25 mph. It just wasn't fair. Yeah yeah, IRL.... Sounds great until you're the one stuck with two rounds at 25+ and the winner played two at 5. That is why wind has been off. If TGC handles this better and more consistently for everyone then I'm good with the wind. Better yet if the designers have some control over prevailing winds for a particular real course even better. Aside from the wind sounding more like static on my system I enjoyed the variable aspect of having wind.

The last round I played I had a ball roll off the tee and the GC2 picked up, but I didn't even think about rewind - I guess it didn't matter what's one more stroke to my great high score
I think no mulligans for GC2 users then there's no question - like it was a low hook and went 60y that's not what happens in real golf and hit it over.
If we have to manually set wind on then no wind, if not then turn the wind on and the wind has to be the same for everyone.

Having now finished with the SONY Open, I don't mind having wind, as long as it can be managed globally for all players, i.e., turned on, without large wind speed differences from player to player, and last, we know a thing or two about how wind gets implemented in TGC.
IRL, wind is stronger higher above ground, slower where closer to ground. So, tee shots tend to get affected more than pitches or chips. IRL I think much less about wind for shots less than 60/70 yds, as the ball only flies a short distance and without gaining much height during flight. Others know how to do a wind resistant shot by keeping the ball flight low into strong headwinds. Does TGC make considerations for ball travel height? If so, how does wind actually get factored in for TGC? During SONY Open, a few of my pitches and chips had me puzzled. ProTee, please kindly enlighten me. Thanks very much.

Yeah, it should probably go down. I have scored well in the last 3 or 4 events. Putts were dropping and I was chipping well. The next course on the tour is hard on lefties. Have to watch that wind with so much water in play.
