  • TGC 2016 SPRING TOUR Schedule

    RULES AND GUIDELINES

    Purpose
To offer an online league format that facilitates all that we enjoy about playing the Sport of Golf. To make Tournament settings on each round that compare to PGA standards.

    Integrity
Golf is a sport of honesty, all players are expected not to treat this like a game but treat it as if you were actually participating in live Events. Please do not cheat or manipulate the Game to give yourself and advantage. We encourage play with other online players but one can play by themselves or with a ghost ball. Scores get automatically added via TGC API so no need to enter scores. Mulligans are allowed only if there is a miss read or hardware/game error. Multiple simulator platforms will be in play.

A few thoughts. For Pinehurst, make sure to do the 2016 version. I'd also think you should add in the BMW Championship at Crooked Stick which was recently released by drlowdon and The Barclays at Bethpage Black. Currently BoomBoom only has the full length version 7480 yards but should soon release a shorter protee version. I actually shot an 89 on the full length version so even if he doesn't get the shorter one out we could see how people do with that monster.

I'm not familiar with Harbour Town, Colonial, Muirfield Village, and the Greenbriar in the game. Has anybody played those and confirmed they are decent courses? Not necessarily accurate representations just not lousy auto-generated courses? If we need some fictional courses to replace those I can give a few suggestions.

Oakmont should be released by mid-June as I'd guess CLV will race to get it out before the US Open however it isn't guaranteed. Yeltzman recently released a bunch of ProTee versions of his courses which should come up with the next sync (I haven't actually checked and they might already be on our server). I think at least Muirfield has been released and he might have done Royal Lytham and Royal Birkdale.

I'd guess NevadaBalin will have Montreux ready by the Barracuda but he hasn't released it just yet.

Just a couple of thoughts, whatever we end up doing will be awesome.

Craig's Oakmont we will use for sure. Yes for Pinehurst. Muirfield by Yeltzman is not Jacks Muirfield Village course but the British Muirfield. BMW and Barclays are after the Spring season ends.

Hey Guys, I want to join the spring tour, but I am confused by all the old messages concerning online tourney play. I'm not sure which messages or threads are still valid.

1)Do you have to go through Q school? If so, can you recap that process or point me in the right direction?

2)Do you still need to read the rules and agree to them as stated in another thread?

3)One thread simply said that all other threads are old and no longer valid and now all you do is join through TGC and play...is this correct?

Sorry for the questions, but alot of conflicting data out there...perhaps the old threads should be deleted or marked "Archived only" , etc.

            Thanks,

            Gene

Is the WGC the Firestone (RUSTIC) version? If so, I played this and it is an excellent representation of the actual course....but tons of fun even at 7300 yards.

I wasn't involved in testing that course. There is a ProTee version that is about 6600 yards. I am thinking that the 6600 yard course will be the one on the schedule. Bubba can confirm. If both are accurate, the masses seem to lean towards the shorter one. There were 3 of us choosing courses for the spring tour. Sometimes there are 3 or 4 pages of courses with the same name. So picking an appropriate course is time consuming. For the next tour, we will probably add a few more testers to the group. When possible we try to play the same course as the pros. Then we choose one based on accuracy, distance, ease of play, lighting etc. We won't be able to please everyone but hopefully this tour will have better courses.

Looks like Colinmafia just released a new version of Harbor Town including a ProTee version. Not sure how it will compare to the one that is mentioned above and won't show up until the next course sync. Just wanted to mention it.

It sure is more fun than I thought it would be. I find myself playing 90% of my rounds playing the tour and practicing for the next event.
