You can play by yourself, offline with friends or ghost players or online.

I think that we all enjoy playing the same course as the pros at the same time. The first thing that we consider is accuracy when picking the course. If we have a few accurate courses to choose from, we will take a slightly shorter version over the longer one. If there isn't an accurate course to play, we may as well choose a different course altogether. If there are many to choose from, we will consider length, greens, lighting, and over all playability. It is quite time consuming finding images and videos of the real course and then playing a few holes to find the best one for accuracy. When playing the same course as the pros, we can appreciate just how good they are. The spring tour's course selection will not please everyone all the time. But it should be better than the previous tour. For the next tour, we may want to start a little earlier and have a few more people testing the courses.

Great course, I think many golfers even in the 10 to 25hdcp range want to see what its like to play tour length courses, although this is still not "quite" there . I thinks its fun to try to play from where the pros play although over 7000yds does get tough. I find its really only the par 4's ,so even if you play them like a par 5 you should be able to be within 4-5 shots of where you normally shoot. Again for now if you want realism, its still a good choice.

That's one opinion.... I'm high handicap and wouldn't go out of my way to beat myself up. Not sure what playing a long course that you have no hope in hell on doing well on or enjoying, would give me. Been there, not doing it again.

I'd like to think that golf is a source of enjoyment, not punishment.

Least enjoyable 15 holes I've ever played. Mainly because I was truly awful, then angry and started just hacking mindless shots from the trees with whatever club was in my hand - driver included!
It just seemed to me most of the holes looked and played the same(I certainly played them the same way
24hrs on, rage subsided, I'll man up and finish my round for +40 or so and try again, but torture is the only word I can think of.
I loved playing full length Magnolia National 2016 so it's not only distance! Just not for me

I played this a while back and I loved it, never finished my round though...

It's a nice change of pace to play a course that's not every Par 4 under 400 yards. Also Par 5's that really challenge the risk/reward of trying to reach them or lay up.

Most of the < 500 yard Par 5's that we usually play are just grip it/rip it, every time. Really no thought necessary on my part.

So I welcome the diversity in the length category.

I think you hit the nail on the head - this is a course you really need to strategize on how to approach each hole. I'm halfway through another round and it's been better thus far. I am enjoying the realism and look forward to watching the pros play it!

Ok, before everyone pre orders a new Ferrari, this is VIRTUAL money... You now earn virtual prize money AND points. Each tour will have its own purse. Majors will have even bigger winnings.

I played my first round and really struggled like many others. It wasn't the length so much for me but rather the course layout. I found the 7,300 yard version of Augusta easier than this one because I wasn't blocked out so much with my second shot. Here, if you put it on the wrong side of the fairway you really had no chance. I didn't enjoy the course but don't mind occasionally playing these. If I hit a 240-250 yard drive in the fairway I'm usually pretty content. Unfortunately I'm just not good enough to try and pick out the right or left side of the fairway, especially when they are tight. I wasn't swing very well either which only compounded the issue. I agree though with others that all courses aren't going to be for everyone. I like changing things up and will absolutely play my second round.

Yes, due to my crappy swing, i have a very high LA. When i go for driver fittings they initially don't believe me when i tell them the loft i need to start at. That whole loft up campaign was total BS for me. I was hitting the SLDR 8 degree but settled on the 9.5 for a little more forgiveness. I now have the 9.5 degree sldr set to play lower and i still can launch it north of 18 degrees. I was fit into the 8.5 in the M1.

I haven't played the TGC version, but I have played Harbour Town in real life a couple of times and your description of needing to hit the correct half of the fairway is exactly how the course plays in real life. I remember the yardage book saying to keep it in the right half of the fairway on the first hole. Of course I hit a decent drive in the left side of the fairway, only to find a huge tree blocking my view that I needed to draw it around. At the time I was close to a scratch golfer but felt like a good round would put me somewhere around 78-80. It is still one of my favorite courses that I have been able to play and just shows how good the pros really are.

Haha! Figured that went without saying... I personally prefer "theoretical internet dollars" though. I do like the purse idea, gives us a good gauge of how our performance will translate in to earnings on the PGA tour when we get our cards.

Well what a difference a day make as the old saying goes. I played another practice round tonight and had a MUCH better run at it. Finished with 5-6 pars this time and actually was putting for a birdie on one hole :-). That didn't happen at all yesterday. Shot an 88 with three balls in the drink and a couple of wayward drives that left me in the trees. This course has really made me dial in the shot shaping. Real life golf tomorrow and then round 1 on Thursday probably.

I finished both rounds...should provide me a nice increase on handicap for next week! I shot somewhere around 95/110 each round. Not only are the long and tight fairways tough, those par 3s killed me, had an 11 in a practice round.

Painful to play this one, glad its over!

Par 3s killed me as well. The two water Par 3s I plunked water balls in each time in BOTH practice rounds :-(.

I've been watching some of the RBC Heritage on PGA Tour Live and as I suspected the course we played was tighter than the ones the pros are playing. The main reason in my mind is the overhanging trees. On some holes we just don't have any room. I'm sure courses like this and Riviera are being done like this since in the video game you are always starting the ball straight off the tee. In simulator we might be a few degrees left or right of center even if we are not trying to. That is what I dislike the most about these courses. It isn't needing to be on one half or the other of the fairway. It is that often there is virtually no room on the tee to start your ball anything but straight. In the end, no big deal. It does appear to be a reasonable representation of Harbor Town from a layout point of view.

Main reason is that the designer wants the tree to be as tall as it is IRL, yet the designer software keeps the proportions of the pre-made trees the same. Therefore if you make the tree as tall as a very mature tree, it'll be quite wide.

Riviera was this way too if I remember right.

I have to kind of agree with ks-man here. Even Jim Furyk himself would struggle to hit some of those fairways. I feel like there's probably a reason TGCTours doesn't include this course on their list of real courses. They also don't play this course for their version of the RBC Heritage. Just a side note, but they also don't list Quail Hollow or The Greenbrier on the real course list either. I haven't played either of those courses so I can't speak for their quality or toughness. Just making an observation. Their list and more importantly their tour schedule is usually a great guide since they have so many active participants that are constantly playing these courses on the console and steam versions. Regardless, I'll happily grit my teeth and tackle this bad boy again for round 2 this weekend. I like a good challenge. Looking forward to seeing the final scores and how everyone fared.
