So this is the better course selection for the spring? Just about 7k yards with tree lined fairways as wide as two lane roads. Covering 470 yards in two shots to even be able to see the green. Guaranteed less than 3% of the golfing public can do this. 260 plus to reach doglegs. Well, at least the greens weren't crazy and got a couple breaks, hitting the stick once and dropping my longest putt so far. Now i know i made the right decision when I didn't play from the tips IRL.

Wow.. Just played a practice round and it's definitely geared towards the long hitters. 18 is a beast.

WOW doesn't even begin to cover this course. What a way to start the Spring Tour. I had two pars and four bogies and those were my best scores. This course is BRUTAL unless you can keep your drive in the fairway. If not . . . well . . . you'll need more than good luck. Let's just say I don't think one practice round is going to be enough for me. My driver was all over the place again on the front side. Even when I figured it out on the backside and hit some decent drives I still struggled and I was putting it out there 265-285. By that time I was mentally fried though :-). I think even if I was a pro I would be skipping this tournament unless I absolutely had to play it. If I break 90 I'm going to be celebrating BIG TIME this week!!!

Like I said before, the courses aren't geared toward just one type of hitter. Not everyone enjoys courses that are for short hitters, not everyone enjoys long courses. There will be something for everyone. Harbour Town is notorious for being tight. This course is no where even close to as tight as Rivera or Kapalua was. It is very playable.

I like the idea of mixing in the regular length courses once in a while, those are usually the ones ill play even though they do beat me up at times. Im fully ready to see what they have in store for us this season, sounds like it will be a nice mix. Havent played a practice round yet though, so we'll see if im eating my words in a couple of days haha.

This course is not easy. Unfortunately there is not a shorter version that is accurate. Accuracy so far is leading the voting as far as what people want when choosing courses. http://golfsimulatorforum.com/forum/...urse-selection ..... Make your opinion count and go to the poll page and vote.

Watch this video on the actual course. The designer did a pretty good job with accuracy.

I played one round and played fairly well. I shot a 78. We need to have courses for everyone. The majority enjoys courses that are accurate to real life. There are plenty of shorter courses on the Spring tour but they are not all going to be 6500 yards. If the most accurate course is 6900 yards that is what we chose. I for one do not want to play a famous course that shares only the name. The fairways are tight but a lot of the greens are very large. I actually like hole 18. 240-250 drive, 190 going in..... if you choose the large landing area. You can also choose to go down the right side. That green is also huge. Overall I liked it. I found a few of the holes a little dark around the green. That makes reading the green difficult. The fairways were a little tight. This will require a few more practice rounds as a few times I couldn't go for the flag because of the trees. I need to make note of what side of the fairway I want to be on. Long or short, we need to challenge ourselves a bit more. We really shouldn't be scoring 10-15 strokes less than what we do IRL. I really didn't like the trees on Kapalua Bay. I put in a few extra practice rounds and picked up strokes where I could. I actually had my second best round there. The hole in one helped.

78 is a great score. i agree with challenging ourselves and I would take accuracy over the other criteria any other day. The last tournament was a great example where the course accuracy was quite immersive and watching the final few rounds you can feel the players pain on bad hits. Playing these type of courses will help people to play 'smarter' if that makes sense considering even in the pros not all of them are long hitters.

After playing my first tour event the TGC leaderboard showed gross scores only, which led me to believe that the TGC tour is not handicapped and made me lose interest in playing any additional tour events. I then saw a comment in another thread where net scores were mentioned.

Are the TGC tour events handicapped? If so, it would make it much more enjoyable for those of us who are not scratch golfers to play and actually have a decent chance at competing.

The TGC Tour is a Handicapped event. Look at the Masters from last weeks in this forum or check www.myonlinegolftour.com to See the whole Tour and leaderboards. You have to sign up at myonlinegolftour before you start playing the Tour.

Played 14 holes then shut it down. I echo the points about how tough it is. But I'm OK with that. Adjust your expectations going in. If I break 85 - I've played well.

Played both times back to back. Reminds me of a tight new england course that really penalizes a bad tee shot. The fairways seemed very firm as I started hitting 3 wood and was getting 30+ yards of rollout with a slight draw. The 18th green killed me both times. You can't really hold a shot at the pin and coming back to it the green just falls away. All in all its a tough go around for anyone I could imagine. I just barely broke 90 both times....been years since I shot that high in normal play. Thanks.

I hit a lot of trees off the tee....a lot...that is all.

Yeah as tough as the course is I'd MUCH rather play something that is as close to real life because the likely hood of me getting to play any of these courses IRL is slim. And I'm not losing any golf balls, so it's all good :-).

I'm going to play one more practice round to see if I can keep my driver in check or I may be teeing off with me 3 wood for the tournament rounds.

The leaderboard in the game shows only gross scores. The handicaps are added outside of the software.
