  • Club Tracking Data - A Couple of Questions

My understanding is that at some point we will have club tracking data via TGC. I think that was something on the "ToDo" list.

I also understand that every shot is stored on the server and is available data.

My question is, Should I start selecting the club I use when playing knowing that one day the data will be available? If we do get club tracking data, will it be retro-active or will everyone start from scratch????

    Any ideas? ProTee????

Club data is only stored when storing shots is turned on. That feature isn't out yet.

Please bring these features. A strokes gained driving, approach, short game, and putting would put TGC in a league of its own. The abillity to measure strokes gained by club and over time would be icing on the cake. Just start tracking shot data and plug in a math guy and you've got it.

Isn't strokes gained based on the entire field of players? Since these are handicapped events with many players with low and high handicaps I'm not sure how useful this data would be to us.

I think doing strokes gained against PGA tour pros and it would still be interesting. Even if all of the shot values are positive (as in I am losing strokes to the field of PGA pros), I would still find it helpful to see which area of my game has the most room for improvement. If I was +1 on driving and +0.3 on chipping, that still is useful to know that I could potentially be saving more shots by practicing driving. Also, I would really like tracking each aspect of my game over time to help pinpoint why my scores are improving or getting worse over a period. There are already spreadsheets with the PGA tour data out there and the calculation is very straightforward.

You could base the strokes gained against players that have a certain handicap or better.

See mthunts' comment below. We store the shot data and will make this available soon. If you make sure you have selected the right club in the game then your shot data will also reflect this and you will be able to filter on club.

I'm not so interested in strokes gained, etc. as I would be for knowing my club averages and the trend, fairways hit %, putts per round, etc.

I've had this running for a long time. It is just data in the cloud. It gives you data such as launch, spin, bs ect to export to excel. Not sure when it will be released. Once in Excel, you can do what you want with it.

So, my take from what ProTee says is "Yes", you should start selecting your club because that data is being stored and you will have access to it one day.
