Before somebody plays a round....... shouldn't we be playing on the 6600 yard course? White tees I guess. Bubba, Mthunt??????

I only played a practice round and enjoyed it. I had to change the time of day settings. Narrow course, but lots of fun. I'll wait to play the competitive rounds until it's determined if it will change.

I am quite sure that they are the same courses with the tees moved up. Boomboom duplicated the real course quite well with this one. Have we ever played a course so short at 6000 yards? Even at the 6700 yard course it is kind of short because of the 5 par 5's.

I think the shortest we've played is in the 6,200 / 6,300 range. I like playing courses between 6,700 and 6,900. But I like the longer ones now and then to challenge myself.

I saw the length of this course and immediately thought that this ought to be interesting haha. Id prefer the 6600 one if available, but may be fun playing a super short one as well if others want to give it a go.

It is nice to mix it up....6300 to 7200 yards. If it is too short, the holes don't quite resemble the real thing. The hazards are not in the right spots. It's great when the yardage is close and you are watching it on TV....

I used to be a member. This RCR is really good but in boom boom fashion a lot tighter than the original. It's still good though. It should be tough at 6800.

So started my first round.....shooting +1 after 7 which is unreal for me, then realized I was playing the shorter course....

You can see I was pretty dejected this round since it was after I found I was playing the wrong course. Much tougher time on the right course.

Is there a way to change the settings so you aren't looking through the fog when using the hole view ( i think it's the E key).

Well I have hit rock bottom.

Was on vacation last week, played a very short 6000 yard course with some family members. Guys I only see once a year, and have not golfed with since I got Skytrak. I had hoped to really blow them out of the water. That did not occur. I ended with a 102! Took a 9 on a 450 yard par 5.

Then I came home and played some sim rounds. My terrible game is accurately represented in skytrak. No distance control, no path control. Fatting shots, thinning shots.

I have been playing with an elbow injury, and tell myself that is the cause of totally losing the ability to strike the ball... but im not sure. It doesnt hurt that bad..just a little sore.

Finished my 2 rounds for this weeks tournament...85/97. The 97 I am sure is my all time worst simulator round.

I might take up bowling instead.

Bowling brings a whole new set of pains! It gave me a permanent case of sciatica because I was trying to throw my fifteen pounder the same speed as two competing girls who, it turned out, were throwing seven pound balls...lucky I didn't pull a groin. Thankfully golf does not aggravate my sciatic nerves. If you are in the USA, you might try Australian Dream cream for the elbow (available at Walgreens, etc), the formula for lower back pain, somewhat expensive ($30), but it has stuff that leaks through the skin. I was supposed to see an orthopaedic surgeon for my shoulder, but one night at the bar and four applications of this Dream stuff and I've been playing golf three times a week and the simulator three times a week without a hint of abuse from the shoulder. I also used it on my knee (when that nerve reaches down) and on my elbow (fat shots on the simulator matt) with seemingly great relief. I'll swear to this: two apps of Dream is as effective as five beers, and longer lasting!

Haha chin up. Short game man, short game. Get good at the 75 yard pitch shot and in and you can get through anything Ive learned after getting my skytrak and being on our tour. If you watch some of the rounds Ive posted im in the trees half the time on the latest ones (have been fighting a push) but have been chopping it somewhere near the green on the next and getting up and down like crazy. At the end I feel like I played terrible but still somehow am putting up a good score. Getting the pitch shot distances down and being somewhat consistent is easily the single biggest improvement in my game and has taken the most strokes off since getting my skytrak.

Itll come back around, golf has a way of picking you up and throwing you down a lot. In my eyes im always just one good little swing tip away from putting it all together again haha

Well I didn't get to play the final round of The Open last week. Disappointed but real life got in the way. Imagine that :-). Was really looking forward to getting back in the sim and putting up some good numbers. Had a decent IRL round yesterday at a very short course but with small than postage stamp style greens that were domed. They were more than tricky to say the least. In all seriousness they were the smallest greens I've ever played on. Any who . . .

Get into the tournament and I couldn't hit my driver to save my life. Just couldn't keep it out of the woods. Finally on the back nine I got it going again and in the second round. Still just EXTREMELY frustrated with the play around the greens. I don't know how many rounds I've played since the update but I just can't find a rhythm that is sustainable. There was one hole in the second round that I literally lost 3-4 strokes because the chip went long then the putt sailed long then it came up way short coming back, etc. Missed two dead on putts one for par and one for birdie because the ball shot off to the right immediately (had about four of those, but the other two weren't going to make it anyway). Have had WAY more misreads on putts too and that cost me 2-3 strokes as I hit good putts then would read and of course it reads the worst one.

Went 88/84 but I think I'm about five strokes worse a round since the update. I really felt like the second round especially should have been a 77-79, which I was very capable of shooting, but I just can't seem to get it going on the greens.

With the jump in my handicap the scores aren't that bad, but I just don't feel like they are representative of how I'm playing, against especially in the second round, but even the first round before I would have been able to pull out an 82-85 simply being able to save some shots around the green, but can't do it anymore. I know . . . I know . . . stop whining. I'm trying but just end up frustrated each week.

I keep thinking that the next week that will change, but every week it rears up. Hit some really solid chip shots that went 6-10 yards past the hole then had a couple that send up that much short. Am in the only one still have this hard of a time around the greens?

Is there a short game practice range that is a "good" one to work on some of this?

You're not alone. I don't know what it was, but i was much better before the update around the green. I'm guessing it's definitely the indian though and not the arrow. Much more confident back then than i am now.

Protee Edge Pin Range! by rdh, It was the very first range I tried on TGC and swear by it now. Having the pins at 25, 45, 65, 85, 105 etc yard increments has been perfect for dialing in pitch distances. Every time im on it ill hit a bunch, practicing the distances, and then before I can leave the range ill have to hit one within 6 ft of the 85, 65, 45 and 25 in a row without missing a single one before im done or ill start it over until I do. Dont do this pitching practice all the time (I probably should though), but when I feel like my pitches are getting a little loose again Ill go back and do this drill after hitting a crap load of practice ones getting the distances down first. Has done wonders for me and I now feel fairly confident standing over those shots on the course. Definitely owe a big thank you to rdh for that range! If it wasnt for my pitch shots lately Id be shooting at least 3-5 shots worse each round lately with how loose my drives have been.

All of the edge ranges are good. I also like Range 2 Protee SFR. SFR's is good for practicing the weight of your putts and chips. He has a huge flat green to the right of the tee with multiple pins. Mthunt has a good range as well. Mthunt's range is good for working on your Gir's. Multiple greens with various shape and sizes.
