I have spent the last couple of weeks figuring out the best way to record and post my golf round to youtube. I have spoken to several members and there did not seem to be a lot of info on the board regarding this topic, so, I have decided to create a "how to" in hopes of helping others.
To see a sample of my videos and the quality, etc. you can look at this one.
Recording:
I use ShadowPlay which comes with the Nvidia graphics card. It is in the Nvidia Experience Program. I struggled with bad audio and jerky/stuttering video both of the game and of my webcam. The key is that you have to have the cpu power. I bought an I7 quad core, 1070 Nvidia card, 16 m ram, and a 500 gig solid state drive with high end gamer motherboard. Total build cost was around $950. I can run the game around 120 FPS which is flawless.
In recording, the biggest issue is file size. If I record at high quality, the file for 1 round is about 9 gig. This would take 7-8 hours to upload to youtube. I found that if I go in and record at 720p and 30 fps that I can get the file down to 2.8 gig. You cannot tell the difference in quality.
I then take the 2.8 gig file and run it through a free video compressor and get the file down to 800 megs. That is the video that I upload to youtube and what you are seeing.
You can download the video compressor here: http://www.freevideocompressor.com/
So, my total time for a recorded round like above is:
File Compressor Time : 15 minutes
Upload Compressed file: 30 minutes
Now my total time is 45 minutes as opposed to 7 hours and the quality is the same.
If anyone has any specific questions regarding shadowplay or video compressing, post it here and I will try to help.
I enjoy recording my rounds and I enjoy seeing the others that people make. Hopefully, we can make it easier for everyone to record their rounds.
