  • What kind of computer are you using to run The Golf Club?

On Skytrak’s website the system requirements for The Golf Club game seem pretty intense; Intel i7, 8GB+ RAM, dedicated graphics card... I was just in BestBuy and the guy is trying to sell me a $1500 gaming laptop!

Is that really necessary? Does this game really require the same level of hardware as video games now a days? Im running this on a projector one shot at a time. Seems overkill. Any thoughts?

I was going to buy a new hp all-in-one with a touch screen, 12GB ram, Intel i7, but an integrated graphics card. Will that be enough?

    thanks for the help

Your specs are way above the website recommendations.

I use ASUS TUF (FX504) gaming laptop, i5 with GeForce GTX 1050 card and 8GB. bought on amazon in November for 700 dollars. Seems to run smoothly with no choppiness. As far as the actual image being projected.. seems fine, unfortunately I have nothing else to compare it too. Clearly you can spent quite a bit on 4k projectors, etc but I feel for 700 this device suits my needs

I wouldn't go with an integrated graphics card, it needs a standalone gpu.

I agree. Get one with a good dedicated graphics card.

Cheap HP ProDesk (i5 4690s 3.2ghz processor) with an upgraded Power Source and a 6gb GTX-1060. No issues.

              Hi

I have a HP ProDesk G3 400 i5, just wondering what's the power source you replaced and what is the brand of video card you installed, cause ProDesk is pretty small low profile PC.

              Thank you !!

Bryan Lu - you’re right. I went with a mini:
Graphics card: ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1060 Mini, 6GB.
Power supply: EVGA 450 BT, 80+ Bronze 450W

So, it sounds like go dedicated graphics card. I guess I didn’t realize it was that graphic-intense.

Any other thoughts on processor or RAM? I’m assuming I’d go i5 or i7 and can’t see anything less than 8GB ram. Which, with a dedicated card is less important I suppose.

I agree with everyone else you need a standalone graphics card.

As for processor and ram get the max that fits your budget. I5 will work but i7 will be better.

Ram 8 GB will work but 16 will be better.

I do agree with the others to get the best graphics card as possible. In my situation my sim is in my barn in the north east us.. very cold in winter and I wanted to bring my electronics inside my home after use. As a result, building a desktop tower was not an option and I was not willing to spend 1300 plus for the "better" laptop. Therefore I bought the ASUS for 700. Each situation is different, but if you have a sim in a climate controlled environment I would definitely build the comp and not buy a laptop. Just my opinion. Good luck

I found a used computer on LetGo!. You will be able to find a used one... I have a different computer I use for my daily activities and have a dedicated sim tower. I got it $400 with i7, 6g RAM, GTX 970. Runs perfect. Wouldn't change a thing.

DO NOT go for a laptop if you can use a tower. if your prepare to pay $1500 on a laptop then for the same spec you will be paying 2/3 of that price. I'm using an AMD 8350 chip with an AMD RX480 with 4GB of ram and it runs like butter off a hot knife.

Thats a pretty old system and far from top spec. probably get those components for under £500 in UK (cheaper in US, especially with the state of GBP at the mo).

I have a laptop with a 1060 GPU and an I7 CPU. I needed the portability but had to pay extra for it. TGC works great with the laptop.

Look I only use my current laptop which has an i5 5th gen and a GTX 940MX to run TGC and E6. Zero issues. I cannot max TGC settings though.

Given the free upgrade to TGC 2019 I just splurged on below, newer gen i5 with GTX 1050 Ti which is equivalent to the 3gb GTX 1060, the 6GB 1060 will smoke this but u pay more $$$.

THIS WILL RUN TGC 2019 WELL!!

Still uncertain.........given that 100% of my TGC is via a projector (1080p) on a impact screen that is 5 yrs old I wonder if a stronger gpu is justifed??

It is personal preference really. If you are happy with your current hardware stick with it. When I first got my sim I was running on a laptop with 1050ti. It ran just fine but I could not max out graphics. I personally wanted the most realistic experience I could get so I decided to get a top of the line alienware with a rtx 2080 graphics card. Was it worth it, simple answer no. What I gained was minimal at a Premium price not to mention I still lag with max graphics on some courses. I can run max on 95% of the courses on TGC but there are a few courses that drop frame rate considerably (riviera) comes to mind.

IMO if you are happy with current set up leave it alone and enjoy!
