    Protee Gear Effect

    I'm curious if anyone uses this or not, I see that the default is set to off, and wondered why?

    I use it. Because it makes my shot shape more realistic to what real life is.

    That is not too scientific but earlier I had a big hook earlier that was not matching IRL. Bubba22 advised me to try gear effect and set the gear effect compensation to 0. It worked well so I left it.

      It's interesting to hear that you used 0, in the interface it says off at -2 and on at -1.

        -1 turns it on. Then there is the correction factor in the settings. I should have made that more clear.

        # Gear_factor_correction:
        # Correction on sidespin (%). value is percentage that will be taken off
        # Value: between 0 and 100
        # Default:0
        Gear_factor_correction=0

          -1 and 0 basically do the same thing.

        Also use it for the same reasons as Boerdoc. Matches my dismal IRL shots.

          To clarify, theses are the settings that I use. Works well.

          # Gear_effect_factor:
          # The gear_effect happens when the ball is hit far from the sweetspot. when -1 gear_effect will be used
          # Default:-2
          Gear_effect_factor=-1

          # Gear_factor_correction:
          # Correction on sidespin (%). value is percentage that will be taken off
          # Value: between 0 and 100
          # Default:0
          Gear_factor_correction=0

            With regards to the sidespin taken off if it's set to 0, wouldn't that be the same as not using gear effect? i.e. the spin won't be altered.

          Thanks all that's helpful, and I will start using as well.

            I thought about the correction of side spin being zero but I went with what Bubba22 told me last year. I suppose I could tweak it but I have not tried.

            "Every club I different with respect to gear effect due to different bulge and roll. There is no formula to get it exact but the ProTee formulation used was based on info what units like Trackman suggested as gear effect in general. I have mine set at 0."

              I'm not sure, but I'm thinking the gear effect would only apply to the driver and woods, but heh I've been wrong before.. lol..
          Working...
