  • Sky Trak renewal fee....

I bought my TGC with my sky trak last February.....we had to pay $99 fee for ST along with the $1000 for TGC....we were told it was going to still cost $99 each year with ST.........I just got an email that says i need to pay $200 to renew to be able to use simulation software??? This can't be right.....or is it??

This is not a good business decision by SkyTrak. This will slow down product sales and open the door for competitors by pushing away loyal customers who are promoting their product.

I didn't notice until now. Renewed last Friday, paid the $200, same as originally when the only add-on was WGT. But yeah, all the other sims were covered by the GIP for $99. I recall now, that since I was not going to renew WGT, I was going to save $100...but no! Anyway, that's done I guess...I'll likely renew only my e6 subscription in June, but I likely will not buy an additional course pack...because...I'd be hostage to SkyGolf, SkyHawke, whatever.

Hello. How may I help you?

Golfer13 Explain the new charge. I haven't even started to use mine yet but all at once there is going to be another $100 a year charge?

Robert Rhodes our membership terms have changed now that we have added more features and have more simulations available. The Play & Improve is renewable annually in order to use <TruGolf, Perfect Golf, TGC> going forward. If you have an iOS compatible device, you’ll now be able to access the Closest to Hole Challenges at 19 WGT golf courses plus Full Course Play on 10 WGT Courses!

Jeff VanArsdale So this is the copy and paste reply to everyone I suppose? I do not own any apple products and waited until it seemed like most of the problems for the Skytrak were worked out. You know I haven't even installed the unit yet but I guess since you waited just a bit over the 30 days past the end of the sale on the Skytrak to announce this I'm sure it's unreturnable now?

Robert Rhodes I am really sorry for the inconvenience caused to you.

Golfer13 Again same thing I read on the forums. If you guys would like to keep selling Skytraks I do believe you had better come up with a better answer and it needs to be posted on the Golf Simulator Forum. That is probably what has sold more units for you than anything around. I am trying to decide what to do with mine now. A used GC2 is starting to look pretty good and especially since they work much much better. What is the update coming for the Skytrak and what does it contain? Better connectivity? Will the new version of TGC (TGC2 ) be supported or will that be another charge? Read

Robert Rhodes I certainly understand your situation, I will consider this as feedback and will forward it to department concerned.

Skytrak 2.5.4 new corrections, 1) Improved device connection flow including feature to scan for available networks in order to simplify network mode connection process.
        2) Includes firmware update to 1.55 which enables network scan and eliminates possible laser drop during alignment mode.
Significantly increased speed of data sync.
3)Improved reading of license files and battery percentage.
4)Small bug fixes related to units of measurement.
        5)Miscellaneous bug fixes.

Been lurking for a while, and was just about to buy a skytrak, literally... but now.... FYI I pay $550 Canadian for my membership at our beautiful 9 hole course and that includes full driving range. Was thinking of getting TGC or JNPG as well. If I get JNPG and the yearly membership its going to cost me more than real golf!!!! WTF. I honestly thought this was a good and honest company. Guess I was wrong.
Usually when I do my research, and do the purchase, I pass on what I learned and usually get the company I purchase from more purchases from my friends. Going to warn them about Skyjack and they deserve only negative reviews. I don't care how good their product is, this is outrageous!

This is bollocks. Not happy but they have literally got us by the balls, no pun intended.

Literally by the balls. We're already half pregnant with TGC. What are we to do, not play with our $1k sim software investment.

It would be interesting to see if any lawyers were in this forum and to see their take on the situation. It does seem truly to be a hostage situation for those folks who have purchased TGC. I have JNPG, so it's more like a rental scenario for me, but still, it does seem like a bait and switch. If skytrak would make the interface open, then someone could at least write an alternative interface, but I don't think they will do that either. While I agree that the world is moving into a subscription model, to double the price within a years time is not reasonable, especially since we aren't getting anything extra in my opinion

I think you'll find it's all in the small print about them changing the terms and conditions when they see fit, if you've agreed, which you must've to use the device

So I usually just lurk here, and the only reason I set up an account was because I wanted to try the android app that SkyTrak_Seth had talked about in the PGA Merch Show thread. Unfortunately, I doubt that he'll be posting anything here in the near future while a deservedly angry mob is awaiting explanation. So in the meantime, I've been following this turn of events closely since I had also been thinking about buying JNPG, and seeing if any good would come of everyone's disapproval of the price hike.

I've also been checking the SkyTrak Facebook page, and sad to say, it looks like the people who opted to go the social media route will just be silenced as SkyTrak has already started deleting negative comments. Sadly, I think this decision is here to stay..

I did post my concern on facebook too and it got deleted in less than 30 min.

Although sounding like a parrot from my earlier post if anyone really wants to lodge a complaint I would either contact the company directly and/or better business bureau. I really think if a bunch of negative BBB reviews came out they would have to be a little more careful how they treat their customers.

I just did that...hope it helps some...here is the complaint I submitted:

                    Complaint Summary

Complaint Type: Consumer to Business Complaint
Nature of complaint: Refund / Exchange Issues
                    Problem description:
I recently purchased a SkyTrak, along with the $99/year Game Improvement Package through a third party retailer. After receiving my unit, I started to inquire about purchasing golf simulator software. The SkyTrak website stated that in order to run any simulation software, it required the purchase of their Game Improvement subscription (that I already had purchased). The software description of The Golf Club (the simulation software) stated also that it required the subscription of the Game Improvement Package as well. Since I had everything I needed, I purchased the software on January 28, 2017. On February 5th, 2017 I read in a public forum that someone discovered SkyTrak had changed the requirements for the simulation software, and it now requires the purchase of their $199/year Play and Improvement package. There is no difference in the packages from when I purchased mine, except in order to access the software I purchased separately, I must now pay 100% more per year. No one received advance notice that this was happening, it just changed on the website overnight. I contacted SkyTrak and asked them to either honor the deal I agreed to when I made my purchase (being able to access my simulation software at the $99/year package) or to refund my purchase of The Golf Club. When I spoke to one of their customer service supervisors, I was told "there is nothing on the website that states pricing/packaging will not change", and I stated to him, that using that logic, there is also nothing on the website that states the prices/packages are subject to change. I asked them to honor the deal I purchased, which was access to my simulation package with the Game Improvement Package subscription as was advertised, or refund my purchase price of $995.00. The refused to do either.
                    Desired Resolution: Billing Adjustment
                    Desired Outcome
I would like to receive a refund of my purchase. I would like to actually return my entire SkyTrak unit based on their shady business practices, as this is nothing more than a "bait and switch" gimmick. I have just filed a dispute with Visa on this purchase as well. I feel sorry for all of those that have purchased the software years ago, and are now being caught in nothing more than a money grab by SkyTrak. SkyTrak is basically saying, "You have to pay double your subscription costs, or we will prevent you from accessing the software package you bought through us".

Why don't someone set up a community skytrak FB page , should get a couple of hundred likes, at least it would be n the search engine.

I spoke with a representative today and although he was cordial there was no resolution offered. I explained that it was unfair and unethical of SkyGolf to pull this type of stunt. With that being said all that happened was he commented he was going to relay my concerns and comments to management... I have since posted on their Facebook page which I implore each of us go and share their latest post and make sure to add your own comments with the hashtag #SkyTrak and #SkyJacked ... Make sure you leave the post public so anytime someone searches for #SkyTrak the post will be shown...

I also wrote the BBB about this since I question if this move wouldn't be considered a bait and switch tactic. Unethical nobody can dispute but was it legal I can't say for certain...

The next thing I will be doing is posting on RipOffReport....

SKYTRAK GOLF / SKYHAWKE TECHNOLOGIES, LLC has seemingly pulled a good old fashioned bait & switch tactic as well as using deceptive advertising with its current customers. As you read this I believe you will find that this is certainly an unethical business practice and I question the legality of what they have done.

                        So here is the scenario...

Within the past year I have purchased 2 Skytrak launch monitors at the price of $1995/unit followed by 2 "Lifetime" licenses for TGC (The Golf Club) at the price of $995/per unit and also at the time of purchase I had selected 2 of what was known as the GIP (Game Improvement Package) for $99/Year which was required for me to use the Skytrak device with TGC software.

At the time of purchase it was understood that I would be required to continue paying the $99/Year pricing to allow me to continue to use the of my "Lifetime" TGC software with my Skytrak.

A day or so ago without any notice to exisitng customers SkyTrak / SkyGolf raised their $99 per unit yearly fees to more than double what I had originally signed up and agreed to. They are now forcing existing customers to pay $199.95 per unit yearly for the same service. If we do not pay the $199.95 for the service we will no longer be able to use our "LifeTime" licenses for TGC. Essentially forcing us to pay more than double or else we can only use their Application and not the TGC Lifetime license.

I did contact SkyTrak today at their 1-866-940-4279 number to inquire and explain my concerns over what I felt was an unethical business choice that I was very displeased with. After confirming both of my accounts on both devices the customer support technician stated that all he could do was to relay the information to a manager within the organization.

As of yesterday the SkyTrak made the change on their billing side however I was able to find on their website that they had listed that all that was required was the $99 GIP package which can be seen as I posted publically on a Golf Simulator Message Board.

My issue here is not with TGC since they are allowing us to more our licenses to another device if we so choose but the issue remains with the questional business practice of SkyTrak Golf /

I expect the company to treat and respect the deal that it previosuly offered and honor their original pricing of $99/Year per unit for those of us that are existing customers. We should be grandfathered in and not be forced to pay more than double ($199.95) for the right to play software that we bought a "Lifetime" license for.

Did a vast majority of the research on personal launch monitors on this very forum before I decided upon SkyTrak_Seth. Learning from many who have posted in this very thread.

In no way would I have chosen to go with skytrak had this thread been out there. Thinking this is a big mistake by skytrak to deal with customers who fully support and promote their product in this manner. Unethical move by them at best. Still hoping they do the right thing.

Yep, I would have never purchased TGC software had I known I had to upgrade to the Play and Improve package. That's what pisses me off the most. They are the exact same packages they were a year ago, the only change is that now to access the simulation software, you have to purchase the higher priced subscription. How is this not a "bait and switch"? Especially in my case where they changed the package structure 7 days after I made my purchase!!!
