  • Sky Trak renewal fee....

I bought my TGC with my sky trak last February.....we had to pay $99 fee for ST along with the $1000 for TGC....we were told it was going to still cost $99 each year with ST.........I just got an email that says i need to pay $200 to renew to be able to use simulation software??? This can't be right.....or is it??

Complete BS.. I have been talking up my SkyTrak for a month and finally was going to have some buddies over to play TGC and watch the super bowl and now I have to pay an additional $99 to upgrade from the Game Improvement package that I renewed 2 weeks ago, just to not look like a jackass and be able to play TGC. I am hopefully upgrading to a GC2 in a month and hadn't planned on spending anymore money on the SkyTrak. This is exactly why I never purchased a skycaddie, I didn't like the way SkyGolf did business with the skycaddie and only bought the SkyTrak because it was the best option price wise when it was released. That time will soon be changing and they are going to screw themselves out of adding future clients by treating current ones so shady. NOT A HAPPY CUSTOMER

Got my renewal email as well. The links don't work and they have decided to extort more money out of me. What a shady company.

As stated here as of today on their website the price is $99 for the GIP. I now expect them to honor this pricing for at least the next 14 days or else expect to be labeled a company that uses false advertising as well as deceptive marketing practices. .

SkyTrak_Seth I expect you to allow me to buy GIP licenses at the listed price of $99 for my 2 accounts.

Shady to say the least, just about the end of the 30-day return window for that holiday deal.

It's bordering on criminal... This is exactly what ends up triggering class action law suits.

          $99 for GIP package

.... but $199 for Play & Improve package (to connect to simulation software.. TGC etc)

The page I posted states only 2 packages therefore it must be honored.

Totally unfair for those that have commited a significant investment to the product based previous expectations. I think everyone would do better by focusing on getting more people using skytrak for reasonable prices, than trying to milk a few...

Someone should start an online petition and see if they will reevaluate before they start losing customers over this...

nothing has to be honored, all will pay the premium and this will be forgotten as the foresight fees i paid, if you guys think that the effort of all this will effect a business decision that was made a ways back i am waiting to see it as this company is pumping out machines faster then a mcdonalds cheeseburger, good luck on this though with the effort, glad i let all my stuff expire on my #Optitrak and shelved that last year

Actually they do need to honor it or they could be be faced with a false advertising issue. There are pleanty of lawyers out there that can easily prove that it is misleading and deceptive.

Pretty sure they have a terms of use that probably only locks them in for 1 year. Subscription based software this is not unusual. If Xbox charges more for its fancy online package would Microsoft lose a law suit over it? Unfortunately, if there is enough demand, they will collect their $200. If it hurts demand enough they will Lower prices. Maybe someone should try bugging skytrak for a group buy.. if enough people renew there is a discount for those that participate. The reality is, there is not enough competition for our dollars. Hopefully es16 gets their act together and drives down the cost of the of this. Better yet, hopefully protee comes out with a launch monitor👍

SkyTrak_Seth I think nobody was buying their play and improve with WGT . A lot of effort must have gone in to integrate the WGT, but it's a crappy product. They are probably trying to recoup all that cost. Would love for Seth to comment on this BS

Is this even legal? Its certainly not ethical.

I bought my unit and The Golf Club in December and I have not even used The Golf Club as I am waiting for my man cave to be built.

If I had known they would pull a stunt like this I never would have bought it.

If this can be proven to be illegal I will be returning everything for a full refund.

I bought my ST and TGC in December also along with the GIP so that I can connect to TGC. My GIP was upgraded to the Play & Improve pkg (don't know when). The Skytrak website now states that you need the PIP at $199.95 to connect to external golf simulators (TGC). So it looks like they grandfathered in those that purchased GIP when THAT was required to play TGC before they made their policy change (not sure when that was). IMO, they should allow those that bought into the ST with GIP to play TGC to keep renewing at the $99 rate until we fail to renew vice making us pay for the PIP.

Still, not putting this out beforehand and pulling the switch-er-roo is bad faith customer service.

That stinks. If you look at it as a 10-year device, that's a cost of $2000 for the device, $2000 for the privilege to sign up for simulation over those years, then $1000 for TGC if you go that route. Total of $5000.

With that thinking, you could justify a used GC2 for $4500- $5000, TGC for $1000, and only be in it for $500- $1000 more after 10 years (not including any maintenance costs).

Given their track record, you will be lucky to pay $200 consistently for a PIP package in 10 years.

I paid $99 in October and it says I have the Play and Improve package which includes the sim options

I'm glad we were at least grandfathered in for a year.

How can you tell if you have the sim options? I purchased the membership a week ago, and my account does say that I have the play and improve package, but I can see where it says I have the sim options

                Thanks for the help

Never mind I was confused on the packages, I found the info

            • #43
Just checked my account and it has also been upgraded to the Play and Improve package, though this is fine for the first year. Next year year they are going to expect a payment £190 per annum when it used to be £90 per annum.

              Very poor business practice indeed.

This will be the last Skycaddie product that I ever purchase, and having purchased a Sky Caddie and a Sky Pro in the past I would have considered myself a loyal customer.

So just to clarify regarding Tcg and skytrak. If I buy an ES16 or used Gc2, does the Tgc license transfer? From what I remember on other threads it does... Just never paid super close attention until skytrak pulled this stunt.

This was why I never pulled the trigger on a Skytrak and why I explored getting a Japanese version.
