  • Random hits when nothing is happening.

I get random hits when nothing is happening. It doesn't happen a lot, but usually when playing tgc. Is super annoying during a tournament. The ball usually goes 2 feet. Anyone know why this happens? I was wondering if my lighting might be causing problems.

Yes, this has been happening to me on the green recently. I would guess it started a couple of months ago and happens at least once a round or so. Sometimes it’s a tiny putt and sometimes it goes 20 yards.

Usually it happens on the green for me, but my last round it happened off the green.

Sounds like a misread to me, but TGC is using the same SDK that we are, so I'm curious if you ever have any of these issues using the SkyTrak range?

I have had this happen 4 or 5 times recently on the green when playing on TGC. I thought it was my putter or shoes inadvertently triggering my SkyTrak. Its never happened to me on the SkyTrak range.

I do have a new pair of shoes that are gray. My putter was definitely nowhere near the skytrak.

I have never had it happen on the skytrak range either. Only tgc.

TGC does not launch a shot by itself, the data must be coming from somewhere.

I do think it is a skytrak misread. I did see the skytrak laser turn off when it happened. As someone else said above, it could have been my shoes triggering it. I am using new grey shoes.

I've had it happen to me as well. I'll be walking back to the computer, which is a few feet behind me and the shot will go off. In some cases I haven't addressed the ball yet. Mostly putts.
I was thinking it must be shadows or something. Only since I did the last Skytrak update. Again could be shadows.

Hmmm, we don't allow putting in the SkyTrak app (and we don't ever switch the unit to putt/chip mode), so it could be that these false triggers are simply ignored in the SkyTrak app but TGC may allow it because the shoes could potentially be moving at putting speed and appear to be a legit shot. It's really hard to tell without seeing the actual shot data for those shots, but if the numbers are crazy, we could look at placing some type of filter in to prevent this. If the numbers look even halfway possible, then that will make it much harder to address.

My phantom shots happen when I am standing at my golf bag behind the hitting area out of view from the ST. I’ll take. It’s of the data next time it happens.

I have just recently started seeing the phantom shots. Probably in the last 4 days. Most of the time the ball goes a couple feet like a put. However, one time I did see a complete shot launch about 60 or 70 yards while I was behind the hitting area switching clubs. In this case it landed in the water and I simply used the rewind feature and continued on. This was in TGC. I don't think I have seen it in the ST software, but will pay closer attention going forward.

This is going to be interesting to see when it happens in a TGC tournament when the no rewinds kick in. Guessing lots of folks will be ticked off if it can't be fixed.

Golf is not a game of perfect. It will be a good test of our mental games. Do you grind it out or collapse. We will all have to deal with it maybe some of us more than others? WBond do you ever need rewinds on the gc2?

I have had a few shots that would have definitely needed one. One was a driver that had 6k spin and 6k side spin that went straight right. others have been wedge shots that read less than 2k spin. I don't think I've taken a rewind since going to the GC2 and even before that, hardly any anyways. I'm using an aftermarket GC2 cover and I'm not convinced that it isn't contributing to the issue. The cutouts for the cameras don't look perfectly aligned and I'm wondering if the edges of the acrylic may be causing and issue or something.
