I'm shopping around for a launch monitor, and it looks like SkyTrak is likely my best option. Does SkyTrak have a putting "range" in the SkyTrak range app? I'd like to use a SkyTrak to work on distance control.

And, given that, I do expect the SkyTrak app to implement putting at some point.

Hmm. Thanks for the tip! I've been looking at E6 Connect, and if the integration with SkyTrak happens that could work well. (And it wouldn't require me to buy a gaming PC.) Unfortunately it looks like E6's fees are pretty hefty. $2.5k for an iOS license is insane.

Yes, looks worthy of a trial. I think you can try E6 for free (used to be able to), but I think there were some problems with the interface? Regarding E6, I see it integrates with FilghtScope, would it work with the FlightScope Mevo ($499.00)? Or is that out of the question? If so, you could pick up Mevo and the E6 Basic Subscription Add-On $300/year (the base package is not required), and have a starting point for playing Simulator Golf for $800.00 for the Sim Equipment.
I could see that would be a nice starting point - I've played on E6 Sims at a local Sports Bar and it's not bad...

Why would you even want putting on Skytrak? Seriously what data do you think it's going to give you thats going to be actionable or anywhere near precise enough to be worth exploring?

Don't need data for putting. Still need to practice.

For me sim putting is a necessary evil to play rounds but using it for training distance control isn’t helpful. I debate going back to 2 putts outside 6’ all the time as outside of 20’ I just don’t believe the distance most of the time (between my feel and trying to deal with slopes of green). I rarely 3 putt in real life but I do it constantly in TGC.

Estimated distance. Adjustable stimp would be nice, but really just estimated distance would be useful. If I can groove what a 5', 10', 15', and 20' putt feels like using a monitor/swing analyzer, I can stop by the practice green before my rounds and "adjust" by hitting a few putts at what "feels" like 10', and then pace off the actual distance traveled.

My two cents:
I believe that there are limited benefits to practicing putting distance control outside of being on an actual green. A putt may be 30 feet, but the velocity needed to get it there depends on slope and stimp. While theoretically, it would be possible to estimate all these parameters on a real green, and then putt a given adjusted "length", but for 99.9% of skilled putters, it is a simply a feel thing.
Having said that there may some benefit to grooving strokes of different lengths. Years ago I bought an electronic device called the Puttometer. It was only $35, and would digitally tell me how far a putt would have gone with given stimp. It is accurate to a few inches.
I think the Blast is a great device. Pop it on the end of the putter, and putt away. It will tell parameters such as the opening and closing of the face, length of stroke, velocity of putter head, time of backstroke, tempo etc. Works well at home and on the putting green, and tracks data. I compared it to Sam Puttlab, and the face data wasn't far off.Last edited by Morini; 06-05-2019, 09:26 PM.

I was trying my skytrak with E6 last night, and I was getting so many mis-reads whilst I was putting .. sometimes it would pick up 10ft shots then not .... then even 40-50ft (yes - bad approach play lol) would pick up .. skytrak does not seem that good for putting ... any ideas/suggestions?

Try placing your ball 8 inches to the right of the red dot and rolling your putts over the red dot. I had zero issues putting in this manner. I used the red dot as if I were spot putting.Originally posted by Albie999 View PostI was trying my skytrak with E6 last night, and I was getting so many mis-reads whilst I was putting .. sometimes it would pick up 10ft shots then not .... then even 40-50ft (yes - bad approach play lol) would pick up .. skytrak does not seem that good for putting ... any ideas/suggestions?

That's interest Wizard... In my Sim play on E6, I found that if I just putted exactly over the sensors with a perfectly straight putter head movement, then I could guarantee I was on line and the putt would go in. Interesting to hear that SkyTrak works very much the same.
I never felt that it helped me at all in distance control. I own a Blast system, so I will try that on the putter and see what I can get out of that. I like the idea of: groove what a 5', 10', 15', and 20' putt feel like. But I feel that would be better done if the software could provide visual cues directly on the screen (they could be turned off/on). This would best be done with golf balls placed at specific distances on the screen, to the right of the actual path of the putt - I described this on another post (I think on the Uneekor post), as it is my hope that one of the software manufacturers could consider providing that as an option: 'Display Visual Cues:', and then include an open field/box to enter where the cues appear, such as: 2, 4, 6, 10, 15, 20 (for 2', 4', 6', 10', 15', 20'). I think that may be the best option yet for using a Sim to practice putts of longer distances - beyond the length of where you have your hole cut on your mat (from the sensor).

I think the skytrak would get the putter blade in the image sometimes causing confusion. So putting the ball 8 inches to the right keeps the putter blade out of the skytrak image.
As for putting ive got most of it in my head for distances. Im pretty solid for slow and moderate speed putts since that is what we generally play. Once you play enough toy for it it. How long the back swing is for 40ft etc...
