Hi!
Just to correct info re. the Vector.
There are 2 lenses - hence, 2 cameras.
Also the unit does not need to be moved, but finding the proper place to hit the from is a bit of a problem since the Vector uses a paper template for set-up. You then remove the template and have to place all balls within an approx 2 x 2 inch area.
Skytrak is better on this aspect since I believe it has a laser pointer that shows where to place the ball.

This Skytrak thread reminds me of a joke that my ex used to tell:
Do you know why airplanes fly? - It's because there are 250 people on board "wishing" them to fly!
Right now it seems there are umpteen prospective SkyTrak purchasers who are "wishing" that it will do what they are hoping for.
The sad fact is that this is a launch monitor, not a golf simulator. It is also a launch monitor that has very limited connectivity, Apple IPad ONLY.
SkyTrak also seems to have very poor support. I couldn't find any e-mail contacts listed on their web-site where you could ask them the kinds of questions being asked in this forum.
Based on the speculation about the new affordable launch monitor, I held back on getting ProTee. Now that I've seen the botched roll-out of the SkyTrak and it's very limited connectivity, I've gone ahead and purchased a Protee.
My 2 cents!

Heh, that is usually how decisions on purchases take place right? You generally want or "wish" the item you are interested in purchasing to perform a set of functions? Also considering there is no information out there claiming sim software along with PC/Android connectivity is going to be available on day 1 I wouldn't really refer to it as a "sad" fact but more as the reality when purchasing technology... It isn't out of the norm for technology to release with X number of features with the promise of additional features coming later.Originally posted by aja View PostThis Skytrak thread reminds me of a joke that my ex used to tell:

Sure there is some inherent risk for those who take the plunge, but when it's closest competitor (GC2) is over four times the cost and when trusted forum members are saying the product has great accuracy, the risk may be worth it to some people. Especially if they have access to an IPad.
Ya, their public information sharing seems pretty poor and most of the information comes from private conversations which doesn't bode very well, although the product isn't even released yet.SkyTrak also seems to have very poor support. None of this changes the fact that if you want a launch monitor, to observe ball flight, that SkyTrak may be a good option, especially for the price point.Originally posted by aja View PostThis Skytrak thread reminds me of a joke that my ex used to tell:

If you wanted a simulator, obviously you wouldn't be buying a SkyTrak right now. You'd have to at least wait for them to release some kind of official information regarding pricing, release, features etc. Buying SkyTrak instead of a ProTee simulator right now? I don't think you could even compare the two at this point. I'd buy a ProTee too, if I had the room and space to set up a simulator. ProTee is just a different, more complete, more expensive, better product.
I don't care as much whether or not they botched the rollout, have poor business practices, don't have someone for me to talk to, etc. If they are providing new technology that may be awesome, then I'll deal with the consequences and problems as best as I can to utilize it. That may just be me. Same goes for all the other services that I pay for like, Verizon wireless and internet. Getting support is a chore and they always screw up billing something whenever you talk to them but I'll deal with it.
There's tons of apps and stuff that are ipad only. I dislike apple products, I have 10 android devices and don't buy into the apple culture but in my mind this is only a temporary issue. Being in software development, cross platform compatibility is nice but it can be a lot of work.
I'm walking into this SkyTrak thing pretty much blind sure, but it seems like it will be pretty good and at this point I'm not too worried about it. Let's see if it falls flat on its face and just sucks. That day will be an excuse for me to get pissed off and buy a ProTee setup and/or GC2 and find a way to make it work logistically because there are truly no other alternatives and no time to waste waiting for the next thing to get better at golf.
You waited to see if SkyTrak was the product you wanted, and now that it isn't, you did the right thing getting ProTee, but that doesn't discount the SkyTrak as a product itself.

Probably a waste of time, but would obviously be incredibly awesome if it helps convince SkyTrak...
Sign the online petition if you want to see SkyTrak work with the Protee so we don't get shafted with E6 as the only option. http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/s...er-with-protee

Thanks!
It took a while to make up my mind, but I'm pretty happy about it.
Still have to get my sim room finished but there's added motivation now that my ProTee is on it's way to me.
Cheers!
