Thanks Zmax! This and the announcement that TGC will be a free upgrade for ProTee just put a BIG smile on my face.Originally posted by Zmax View PostBreaking news! SkyTrak will not be integrated with TGC, ever!
Can't say I'm surprised given the clumsy Skytrack roll-out and poor marketing that they have going.
ProTee is actively seeking integration partners for it's sim software, especially TGC. If the hardware companies were on the ball, they's be lining up to join!

There's been some talk of the iPad air requirement. Bubba22 will confirm that it also works on iPad 4th Gen.
With the iPad Air, delay from swing to ball launch is about 4-5 seconds. Wedges take the longest.
On pc, the delay is about 1-2 seconds.
Bubba22, can state the delay on iPad 4th Gen?

It works with the IPad 4th generation. It should work with the IPad mini with retinal display. The issue with the older iPads is the processing power and speed. The unit relies on the host computer for all its processing. The delay on the iPad 4th gen is about 4-5 sec. Whether they can speed this up, I am not sure. This will not be acceptable for simulation however ok for range work. Those that will hook up the iPad to the projector for range simulation may not love this delay.

Eh? Is the Skytrak device simply a high speed camera that beams the pics to the IPad/PC to do the heavy lifting? Wow, pretty crappy design if this is the case as every software platform would obviously have to process the pictures for the ~2ft of ball flight parameters and then process the physics to extrapolate that to a full ball flight. Each library for each platform to process the pictures would probably be a little different and inconsistent between platforms...
Hopefully this isn't the case and the Skytrak detects and spits out the full flight parameters and their Ipad app simply does the physics and full flight path and happens to be very poorly programmed based on the apparent ugly delay.

Not sure which gen iPad this is but it will give you some idea of the delay ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rSszFNV1PjQ )
I guess if you have a 1st gen iPad you can swing go and make a coffee and then come back to see the results

Slow day at the office so I started browsing Youtube and came across E6 Golf II. If the graphics are going to be this good I'm not sure I'll play a real course again ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5k9IPAf2nOU )

This is an old video. Not sure when E62 will fly. They are shooting to release E6 1.6 but who knows when. Don't let the graphics fool you until you actually test it. Original E6 in my mind was not great in reality compared to the posted videos. Looking forward to testing 1.6 though.Originally posted by Jel View PostSlow day at the office so I started browsing Youtube and came across E6 Golf II. Okay thanks for the info Bubba22. Do you have an idea of when E6 1.6 will be released ?Originally posted by Bubba22 View Post

Zmax and Bubba, you guys seem to have a lot of experience and expertise in this area so thank you for answering our questions. I've always understood that the difference between a LM (like skytrak) and a clubhead monitor (like protee) is that LM are better in just simulating realistic ball flights. Meaning, I can take any club and hit any shot I want and it should replicate it as it is calculating flight based off of ball movement within the frames it captures. With a clubhead monitor (like protee) while it does the calculations based on club head position differences, in order to get accurate data you would need to a) manually select the club in the program and b) make sure the clubs specs are entered correctly. So in order to hit a 7 iron stinger (for example), I would just need to take that shot with skytrak, but with protee i would need to make sure I've selected 7 iron with the correct loft/lie specs in the program. Is this accurate or am I misinformed?
Thanks again!

Acn684,
You were misinformed. The ProTee now has the option to include cameras to measure ball path and LA. The sensors also measure ball speed. The two things that are calculated are backspin and spin axis. The system will measure punch, flops, draws, fades, bump and run, etc.. No need to play with club specs. The game will also select a club for you depending on distance to pin. If it selects a 7 iron for you, you can use a 6 iron and still be ok.
