I use cable internet. The faster the internet the better the performance. However I also use the plug in antenna to carry my internet. My setup is in my garage and wifi is not great for simulation. So I bought the plug in ethernet extender and it works great. But I think the electricity cable needs to be in the same house but you may want to look into this option.

Normally I'm for purchasing and owning the software. But the e6 cloud actually sounds better. Instead of paying $3000, if they charge $15 per month. Well that's $180 per year. In 5 years that totals $900. It would take about 16 years before reaching the current cost of e6 software...and we all know something better is always coming out.

So I'm actually all for the monthly fee because with the cloud you should always get the latest updates when released. The low monthly cost will make it easier for more golfers to get involved which will be better for everyone to have more people playing online vs a smaller community of people willing to shell out the high software costs. I don't see what's so bad about it and why a lot of you are against it. I see a lot more positive in it. If something better comes along you aren't stuck with the $3000 piece of software you paid.

Let's see what the monthly charge will be. As we have all been saying, $3000 for the software is way overpriced. Just look at Foresight software prices. I betcha their sales could be higher if they priced it right. Everything depends on how Skytrak price things.

My wife surprised me with a new Skytrak for Xmas. Pretty happy right now.

Question: Any chance they are developing the app for running on a Macbook Pro? I own a new MB Pro and don't really want to buy a new iPad, but I'm guessing I'll have little choice.

I finally had some time with the skytrak after the 1.7 release. I feel like my distances are somewhat more what I usually see on the live course/range compared to the original version. My spin rate has also come back more into normal realms
The network connection seems to not register around 1/10 of my shots but when I direct connect i feel like that becomes a non issue. It may be my network strength but I have all apple routers (extreme and express) so it should not have different results as my iPad has no issues dropping connection.
The new alignment feature is great. Really helped with getting the correct measurements as far as left/right of center. Although does anyone else think that the lasers do not line up parallel to the unit? As long as I use the laser alignment I get correct results, it just looks like my skytrak unit is a little open to the target.
Overall I'm happy with the improvements and am looking forward to continued improvements over the life of the machine.

I measured my hitting surface and found it to be a couple of degrees off sloping front to back and right to left. Interesting because it is inside a building and It could also be that the mat itself isn't laying perfectly flat. I made a leveling pad for my Skytrak and got it to within .1 of a degree bothe ways. It seems to have made a pretty big difference in distance. I am going to take some time to evaluate it more fully, but my advice to all is to check your surface and don't assume its level. And if my initial observations are correct, a couple of degrees is a big deal to this unit.

Yes. I use alignment sticks when I put it into alignment mode. As long as I use what the lasers tell me and not what the appearance of the skytrak looks like to target everything works great.

I do this as well using a laser pointer crossing the two dots. And it lines up nicely.

Isn't a lot of the levelling done by the inbuilt accelerometer ?

There are level sensors in the unit. I assume that means that readings from them factor into the algorithm used to calculate ball flight. So to the extent the algorithm is accurate it shouldn't make too much difference. Yet it does which leads me to believe that the algorithm needs some work. I have connected to the unit using xswing and have tested the sensors against my iphone and they seem to be accurate, but they do almost constantly vary (if -0- is the corrent reading then it may vary from -.1 to +.1). Not enough to make much difference, but I do wonder why.

My bottom line on leveling is that I want to take as many variables out as I can and I have seen a difference by doing so.
