Hi Tekbud. Nice review. Glad that you are enjoying it like me.Originally posted by Tekbud View PostReceived my new Skytrak today. purchased based on the reviews of so many posts in this forum. Bought a net return last year as with three kids my game has gone downhill for lack of practice time. got an sc100 last year as well, practiced a good bit with it and first time out had a huge hook that came out of nowhere. lack of feedback kills. Thus time to look at directional feedback. All I can say is wow. Accurate distance results with nearly every club (with some mid-iron exclusions previously reported). Having directional and true launch angle info is a true blessing in my back yard. Also quickly realized that I simply wasn't releasing my driver due to poor (low) launch angle numbers and quickly added almost 20 yards off the tee. From 271 max up to 289. There is a God! Thanks to everyone that made this purchase ahead of me and made me a believer. Now bring on the full round simulation - I'm sold!
I have a question. There were a couple of users with a complaint about driver's ball speeds registering lower than they expected. \
I myself went out to a range to hit driver shots a couple of days ago and I didn't feel that way, but I cannot confirm it because my ball speed is not as fast as theirs.
Did you feel that your driver's ball speeds are lower than usual?

Honestly, I'm not that familiar with what my ball speeds are. I've never really spent much time in front of a device / trackman, etc. to gather much data so I don't have a comparison point. I can tell you that between the SC100 and the Skytrak, my distances were incredibly close, within 1-4 yards every single time. Everything I was hitting initially was in the low 260's with the driver on both devices. I hit one 271 (skytrak) which registered 268 on SC100. There towards the end of my session when I hit a few up over 285 I was seeing similar results on the SC. I didn't check ball-speed but swing speeds were showing 105-108 fairly consistently in the end.

Tekbud, thanks for the awesome review! That's what we like to hear! Would you mind if we used part of it on our website?
Tidbit: Not that our other data parameters aren't accurate (because they are!), but the nature of the technology that powers SkyTrak makes ball speed the easiest parameter to measure accurately. In our many trips out to do robot and player testing against Trackman, the ball speeds averaged within tenths of a percentage point against TM. I have extreme confidence in our ball speeds - doesn't matter if you are hitting driver or PW.

I've had my SkyTrak since December and apart from keeping me sane during the snowy winter we have had on the East Coast it has also helped me make some fundamental changes to my golf swing.
I had our club's head pro around earlier this week to work on his game and fit him for some new irons, and he left so impressed by the SkyTrak that he is going to get one and use it for teaching and fitting at the club. I have had no issues with leveling the device and the measured data is invaluable in the club fitting process. For the most part distances are spot on and even with the current mid-iron issue the device proves it's worth as a great fitting tool.
I can't wait to see what next innovations are put out with future releases, and once the protective cradle is available I think we will see many more pro's adopting these as their go to device for clubs that can't justify the exorbitant costs of the Doppler radar based systems.

New member. Recently purchased Skytrak and tested in garage under fluorescent lights. Placed ball exactly on laser dot. Problem is it only captures once in awhile, say 60% of shots. I use orange and yellow balls if that makes a difference. Any thoughts or advice to correct problem?

I happened to use a new yellow ball (Srixon) for a bit and I felt the same, so I just stick with white balls.Originally posted by Sundevil1 View PostNew member. Are you connected directly to the ST unit or through your wifi. Since your in the garage the connection may not be great if your connected to your wifi and you will loose shot data sometimes.Originally posted by Sundevil1 View PostNew member. I actually didn't know that direct connection was possible except for the initial setup. I had just assumed that the device and/or app needed internet connectivity to work. I'm going to give this a try as well as I noticed last night some shots were missing. I'll provide an update after I've had an opportunity to test.

So I went to the driving range this week for the first time in 3 months after using SkyTrak since I received it in December. I have to say there is nothing like seeing real balls flying through the air BUT I can whole heartily say they would not have flow as well without the off session practice I had with the SkyTrak unit.
In the last 3 months I've leaned how to shape shots, hit the ball more solidly and developed a swing that I now feel very confident with ! So what I'm really saying is thank you to the ST team for bringing this unit to the mass market !

Hi Jel. I can't agree with you more. My winter practice in my basement also became fruitful because of Skytrak. I obviously spent a chunk of money for it, but I didn't spent money for gas and range balls which are usually worn out so that they give me untruthful feedback.Originally posted by Jel View PostSo I went to the driving range this week for the first time in 3 months after using SkyTrak since I received it in December. As a side note, I was able to do a ball fitting myself with Skytrak. I wanted to cut down the budget for balls and I tested about 10 different golf balls to find the best mid-priced balls. 'Callaway Hex Chrome' ($30 or so per dozen) was the winner for my game. The spin rate for wedges is very close (if not identical) to Pro V1 or Pro V1x. The ball speed for irons is 2-3 mph higher than others including Pro V1x and Pro V1, which can be translated into 4-7 more yards for each club. It feels soft enough (but not as much as Pro V1x) and sounds good when I hit.
If you are looking for a low priced golf ball, I strongly recommend Srixon SoftFeel. Everything was great except the lower spin rate for wedges.
Ah... Taylormade Project (a) is the worst... Everything except the higher spin rate for wedges was crappy .... Avoid it...Just FYI.Last edited by hks8888; 03-20-2015, 06:03 PM.

Any info on simulation via E6 or WGT or anybody? Loving the driving range and being able to work on game improvement but am now anxiously awaiting some form of game play.
I, like others, think the SkyTrak has helped my game. We've had an unprecedented early start to the golf season up here in the frozen north and had a chance to play a couple of rounds. My work with SkyTrak coupled with working with a coach on a consistent basis has gotten me on the right path to improving my game. In the past I would take lessons and then return home and hit balls into a net and not know(other than feel) what the ball was really doing. With SkyTrak the feed back is key! In addition, I live an hour away from a driving range and a range session was always a PIA with travel time etc. Now with my newly built mancave dedicated to golf I can wake up grab a cup of coffee and go to the range in my slipper and boxers if I wish.
