As a MEVO owner, I've been impressed with MEVO data compared to more expensive LMs. I don't think FS has a need to purposely "dumb down" accuracy of MEVO+, unless there is a cost benefit to doing so (royalty avoidance or hardware capability). They can protect their pro lines of LMs by locking down the data display and keeping simulation proprietary (no connectivity with e6 or TGC).Originally posted by CHansen157 View Post
While there are other differences, the the nature of the different frequencies is that the 24MHz band of the Mevo is going to have inherently far less resolution, i.e. it will not pick up precise details like spin axis as well. Now perhaps they improved their processing or have incorporated other technologies (photometrics?) to make it tolerably accurate, but all other things held equal it will not be as accurate as the Xi or X3.Last edited by games; 12-29-2019, 02:32 PM.

I believe chansen was referring to the upcoming mevo+ which has announced sim support, so it may be a direct competitor to xi. In fact it could be a dumbed down xi with the mevo name in order to segment the market better.. The price will be $2,000 so priced somewhere in between mevo and xi.

Yes, it does. Particularly with spin axis. Even with Trackman.
Plus I’d be a little concerned that the metallic stickers needed for accurate spin measurement would decrease the longevity of an impact screen... they’re thin but they have sharp edges, and must be placed on the part of the ball that spins the fastest and always contacts the screen.

It's not so much "dumbed down" as the technology is just different and less accurate from the higher end Flightscopes (which accounts for the significant cost savings). The MEVO is not a repackaged, compact Xi with some software/data limitations--there are fundamental hardware differences.Originally posted by games View Post

CHansen157 Just to correct a mistaken analysis, the Mevo+ has a 24 GHz radar, not MHz. It is therefore shorter range (partial flight) capable but the resolution is actually higher than that of the 10 GHz older radars. And the antenna size is much smaller, enabling the small product size. Trackman 4 uses a 24 GHz radar to track the club head through impact.
