  • SkyTrak Damage

A really bad shot last night that hit the metal protective case 😟. Unfortunately I did not have the SkyTrak screwed into the metal case. The ball hit one of the tiny metal flanges and bent it which then hit the SkyTrak protective film (see pics). The SkyTrak fell out of the case and turned off. I was able to power back on and connect it to TGC2019 and it registered one shot, but then nothing. I tried multiple times rebooting laptop, resetting SkyTrak, reconnecting with USB and Network mode and no shots will register in either TGC2019 or SkyTrak. I did bend back the tiny flange of the metal case thinking it was interfering with the shot, but no luck. SkyTrak support was closed and chat support told me to call on Monday. Unit is less than 30 days old. Also feel like the integrity of the metal case at the spot where it bent may be questionable now. Any suggestions or will I likely need to send back to SkyTrak for repair? Will this be covered under the 30 day warranty? Yes, it was a horrible shot and fully expect to get heckled, but really looking for some advice. Thanks!

I would imagine it’s going back for repairs

Sounds like something was damaged internally and that one last shot sent a signal that activated something that was shorted out by the strike damage

    just a guess

even if you manage to reset it and get it going with such a new unit , id send it in for a checkup just in case

Interestingly enough, I just tried again this morning and it is now registering shots and seems to be working just fine. Should I still send in for repairs?

        Up to you

        i believe I would

unless I could open it and check for internal damage
        Things loose inside
        out of alignment internally
        cracked or broken pieces

        but again that’s your call
        just my .02

I would not tell them you didn’t have it screwed in right tho . But the case is there to do a job so should be covered . Ring them and tell them what happened (not mentioning it wasn’t screwed in ) it probably all ok now by the sounds

Well, I just played 4 holes on TGC2019 and then stopped working. Argh! I guess I am sending it in for repairs.

              Sounds like an intermittent short
or some component took a shot and due to damage or a bad connection is getting hot
either way a trip to skytrack is in order

Isn't that film supposed to be removed anyway? I don't recall having one on mine.

There are two layers of film on a new SkyTrak - the thin top layer has a little pull tab, and is meant to be removed before use. There is a thicker, protective layer underneath - that's probably what is bubbling in his photo.
              Working...
