New Skytrak Update

also, why can’t range view be separate from shot optimizer? Or make all values visible bottom of screen? Seems like a simple fix.

Yes, but there is still competition from Mevo+, GC2 and Uneekor. They have every incentive to improve. And to be honest, with bugs and all, Skytrak still has better range software than some competing produces ... but then again, they charge annually for it, so it is expected to be good. Updates used to be frequent, then a huge wait ... and it looks like another huge wait.

Once this covid thing is under control and the volume of Mevo's and skytraks, GC2's, uneekers and maybe full swing monitors out there will really put the cat amongst the pigeons.

I think skytrak needs to release new hardware at the ES16 tour price point $3000 that delivers what the es16 should be doing.

That would be an easy upgrade for most skytrak users to make.

Since TGC2019, i never use my skytrak range software, so they can update all they want image wise on the software, I think its to little to late now.

Throw version 4 in the bin, we want new hardware from skytrak.

The full swing kit looks interesting I got the skytrak to use until that comes out then may buy that or just buy something good because what do you expect for 3k lol can’t even get a golf membership for that kinda Money where I’m at

Sim golf and online play has really rekindled my love for the game.

If it wasn't available at an affordable price, i'd probably just find something else to do.

The £99 a year, seems a a bit steep for a slightly improved driving range, and feels samey really, and cannot afford £800 for E6 or TGC. Come on Skytrak, you need to up your game a bit I feel, to keep your audience

For 200 odd bucks you can't go wrong, lots of courses, they all pretty good, cheap way to start.

SkyTrak_Seth - please try to include the fix to eliminate the hard lower limit of 2,024 for total spin in v4 - that's costing a bunch of us distance with driver, and making driver shaft fittings tough. Many of us are trying to get total spin down in the 1,800 range but with SkyTrak there's no way to know how far below 2,024 we are.

Are you talking backspin here? I sometimes get under 2000 rpm on my good drives.

If you're seeing backspin under 2,000, that means you have SkyTrak configured to show separate backspin and sidespin. In reality, there is only one spin of a golf ball, along with a spin axis. If you change your settings to show Total Spin and Spin Axis, you'll never see total spin below 2,024, because that's a hard lower limit in the SkyTrak unit's firmware.

This is probably the #1 thing I'd like to see fixed on SkyTrak, because with modern drivers and balls, it's very possible to get total spin down in the 1,700-1,800 range, which maxes out total distance for many players with average to above average ball speeds.

Obviously you can hit just a little chip though and have the spin be way under that. So that makes me think there must be either a ball speed or distance minimum that would set the spin limit into effect.

Went with fitness golf as on offer for £189 ... Also benefit that my fairly low spec laptop runs it fine, unlike it would be with E6 and TGC

When there were no updates at the end of 2020 I assumed that meant SkyTrak was waiting for the PGA Merchandise Show to unveil them. SkyTrak_Seth what could possibly be taking so long for things you guys showed three years ago?

I tried to find SKYTRAK at PGA Show 2021 and I could not find them on the list of exhibitors.
It indicates that nothing new we can expect in short future.

Seth did say that the improved software range graphics was coming down the pike. I think right now they are working through a few little bugs with the bag mapping features that they have. I'm guessing that the improved graphics in the software are coming this or next quarter.

I don't know if its me, but I feel like after the last update, the delay is actually shorter from when I hit it to when it displays on the screen. Maybe this is just me after using it for so long, but I feel like it has been reduced by a small amount.

I just got the unit in December so I don’t know what it was like before that but I’ll simply add that the delay is an afterthought to me. I timed mine out from curiosity and it’s just at 2 seconds from when the club strikes the ball. Which means it’s not much after I finish the swing/follow through/etc.

Short story, I don’t really notice it and have zero concerns about it.

Don't get rid of the delay! The process of hitting a shot and thinking "where did that go nd what do I think that strike was like?" then seeing it play out is one of the biggest learning points for me. I want to feel and understand what I did.

I agree, I love the delay. It is long enough to mentally process what I think I just did. The ball flight then confirms it or tells me to practice more! I think this will transform into an improvement in real golf because it takes away the idea of lifting my head to watch the ball flight.

Hey all, we are working through some iOS issues at the moment for v4.0 with updated range graphics. That should be out soon (Lord willing). As far as total spin re 2024, I have a ticket in place for that we can address in a follow-up release. It's a limitation between the hardware and software that we can fix fairly quickly.

PS - the delay is based on the host device's processing power, and it improves with each new generation of Apple/Android/PC.
