  • SkyTrak and The Golf Club (TGC) Simulation Software

Hi Seth. I'm new to this forum but have been reading as much as I can about SkyTrak on this and other forums. It seems that many experienced sim users think that The Golf Club game is the best simulator software out there right now. In fact, if I'm understanding and remembering things correctly, Bubba22 and Zmax were instrumental (please correct me if I'm wrong) in getting ProTee to integrate their sim hardware (and gc2) with The Golf Club software. So my question to you/SkyTrak is simply this: Has there been any thought to integrating SkyTrak with The Golf Club? And if so, what are the odds that this might happen? And if so, when?

  • Question for SkyTrak_Seth and/or ProTee United. It's been a while but I believe it was stated that if/when TGC software becomes compatible with Skytrak there would be an outright purchase option. If that is the case, if the software is purchased for skytrak and if I decide to change to a gc2, protee setup or the new es16 (if compatible with TGC), will the software be transferable to the other unit?

Sorry if this is a duplicate question but I do not recall it being asked at all. Been following since April.

To me that would be an ProTee United question and not a Guest question.

I think your question involves items that they are still working on...
I am sure part of the delay is licencing AND how they are going to charge for the software...

  • ProTee have already stated their TGC pricing model on this forum. I am guessing that they will allow transfer of the license given their pro-customer orientation.

    • Protee can confirm, but I do not believe it is a normal, allowable thing for TGC licenses to be transferred. They are tied to your machine ID, which is your PC or laptop.

The license won't wonk on another machine unless the code is "refreshed" by Protee or you are given a different TGC license.

The seller, I believe, would have to sell his/her PC/laptop to make that software/hardware/license combo work.

        • License keys are indeed locked to the computer. There are 2 scenarios.

          1. Same computer, other simulator hardware.

When you purchased a TGC for SkyTrak license, we can change the license to work with for example GSA or ES16. In this scenario the computer/owner remain the same.

          2. Same simulator hardware, another computer.

Here we need to transfer your license to another computer and/or owner. This is of course possible. We will post some instructions early next year.

I've a Skytrak and so am in the waiting room with the rest for the sim option. I have to say that ProTee seem like a very honourable company with a good customer interface. That is something I put stock in, especially for something like software (even more so when it is expensive software), where hardware changes and you are reliant on the software house to keep upgrading the software to work. I'm really looking forward to giving TGC a whirl when its available.

Not sure you'll be able to give it a whirl benny, I think I asked before whether a demo would be released can't recall it was answered tho.

        • Leaving us for the other software luv?

What software mthunt? I don't own any software. Have you seen me on TGC playing? Have I posted anywhere in the TGC owners thread? NOPE. Comment was just what it was........

No offense, just not sure why everyone seems to be so touchy around here. Almost like walking on pins and needles.

        • @protee will there be a demo released? I'm hesitant about spending 1k given the putting a chipping issues in E6, I'd like to play a time limited or hole limited version before committing. Is that fair?

It's seems all of the licensing is a Skytrak deal. I'd bet good money only they will have that answer. If it's taking this long to figure out how to ensure you can only use Skytrak licenced, imagine how long it'll take to figure out a demo. Then again, maybe it'll be easy. Lol

But they have an e6 demo and apparently they haven't figured that out yet either. Otherwise I guess you would be able to purchase by now.

TGC does not have a demo. It might not need one. At the moment it is the only sim software that is available in it's price range. And according to the beta testers it is the only one that works without issue with SkyTrak.

The E6 demo has existed for quite some time, and is available for use with quite a few platforms.

        • I agree @MrHogan!! That's a lot of money to spend without a trial of some sort. Here's hoping for some sort of demo. I'd be beyond thrilled to be a beta tester with the understanding it's a beta and not a finished product too!!

          • So let's say for example SkyTrak releases TGC end of Jan, and it's $1000. But also the ES16 releases at the PGA show, and will ship in say February with TGC for an extra $1000.

Current SkyTrak owners that are on the fence will have to think long and hard before just buying TGC for SkyTrak, knowing that they might decide to buy the ES16 shortly and if they do, that $1000 for TGC w/Skytrak is likely a sunk cost ---- unless you can sell your copy of TGC with SkyTrak

Actually, surprised they considered there was enough mileage to warrant them making a case. How many skytrak's have been sold, 1000, 2000? Maybe 30% might buy a case, maybe 70% might?

Joko if you own TGC for Skytrak, you can keep the software if you are going to switch to another product like Es16. I dont think you wont need to sell TGC Skytrak and re buy it.

Bubba if that is true I'm impressed for once, wasn't sure how the licensing was handled.

          • The first question will be do they want to spend another 2k. Then do they want to get back in on a first release product. I would go a used gc2 first.

I'm not sure why you are mentioning the GC2 here. We all know the GC2 is what works now and is a good product.

I believe many would be willing to see what the ES16 has to offer, that doesn't mean buying it before it's been properly tested and vetted with sim software.

Because I personally don't believe there are a lot of skytrak owners that are going to be willing to spend an additional 2k for an unproven product or product with limited reviews when you can possibly spend less and get something that is absolutely proven. We shall continue to wait and see.

I'll wait and see on the es16. If the system is proven accurate and provides club data im likely in. But I'd definitely wait 4-6 months depending on user feedback.

          • @protee can you confirm that the skytrak ball is back in your court? And if so any idea on a time frame? Any Info would be nice

Listen to Bubba man, the ball is and has been in Skytraks court for ages... ProTee knows what they are doing based on their past performance... SkyTrak, well, I'm not so sure.

          • I do know that about 2-3 weeks ago ST sent the package back to e6 to integrate with a new security wrapper. They had to dedicate an entire team to work on this. I'm not sure of the current status.

Probably best to not assume anything, but rather wait for confirmation and proof. What's the point in idle speculation?

You will not be buying tgc for skytrak from swingsense. You will have to buy it direct from Skygolf. The exact same way you buy all their other packages.

            • The process by which the TGC integration is being brought to market is mindblowingly slow. There's been good learning resulting from use of my Skytrak, but without a quality sim solution, sad to say its far from worth $2k to me for the value it's delivered. I guess 'coming soon' means something to me that it does not mean to others.

+1 Tekbud. That's the exact decision I was making - Skytrak and trust the 'coming soon', or get a GC2 (+ pay more) and have it now. I don't want to feel this way about my Skytrak, but it looks like resale value is very weak, so live and learn huh. Won't make that mistake again.
