I just played a round with the SkyTrak unit in network mode and it didn't miss a shot. Delay was same as with USB.
-
SkyTrak_Seth - which is faster as in speed of communication (from ST unit to the computer), is USB, or WIFI faster? Is it USB 2.0, and WIFI (guess would be speed of router/connection)?
Is the delay between hitting/seeing shot on the screen identical, or is it a bit faster using the connection that is faster?

I just played a round on Yuma Desert.
Runs great on my Macbook Pro 2015 (with the dedicated AMD graphics chip). I run it 1680x1050, medium settings on the launcher, no changes to settings in the game. I didnt have fraps running, but felt like 30-60 fps. I know it will dip on courses with alot of trees and water, but I am happy with performance. And it looks great, nice and fluid ball flight, grass and greens look good. Even the shadows seem to have improved since last time I played the Steam version on PC (bought it back in early-access).
I did have an issue with several shots not registering during the round. I had to hit 3 drives on one hole before one registered. Short chips were way better than E6, but I had several not register where I had to chip it 3-4 times before it would pick up.
Putting in E6 was terrible for me, I had no desire to even turn it on. Putting in TGC is probably reaching the limits of how good putting can be on a simulator. For now I will be leaving gimmies turned off. I was able to hole a couple long ones from outside 10 feet. Missed a couple short ones. Felt very realistic. Even 8 inch putts registered fine (except for one on the first hole that would not register after 5+ attempts. I had to "rewind shot" to replay the previous putt).
Overall I am very happy with it.
I downloaded PG on steam over the weekend, and had refunded it after 30 minutes. Graphics were not as good, everything looks very flat and dark compared to the HDR look of TGC. Ball physics seemed a little off on PG..felt like first bounces really shot forward with too much speed.

USB connected. Can you use Wifi with TGC?? I didnt try that as the Quick Start guide showed to plug it in to USB. All my previous hitting with E6 and Skytrak Range has been with wifi. I will go back to wifi mode and see if that helps.
Honestly I had so much fun with TGC and it just felt so accurate that I wasnt too bothered by the mis-reads.
-
Besides the odd shot, you should not have any misreads.
-
I just played another round, using wifi instead of a usb connection and the only shots it would not read are putts less than 4 inches. I think that is due to the ball I was using. I actually had a foam practice ball that my kids use laying around and for some reason, that ball reads 100% of the time on short putts. But my real Bridgestone ball wont read most of the time. I will try putting marks on it next time.

Not sure I like how ST says you have to maintain their $99 a year subscription to keep TCG. Does this mean if I buy the $1000 outright software and I end up not renewing my ST subscription I lose my TGC purchase altogether or are they just saying I won't be able to play it on my ST if I do not keep my $99 ST subscription?

The way I understand it is that you will not be able to play it with your skytrak anymore. However you own the game. You could sell it, change it to work with another hardware or just hang on to it if that is what you are looking for.

Does anyone know if the purchased version is 3.0 or 2.9? IF it's 2.9, is there a cost to upgrade to 3.0 in a few months? Does the rental offer any benefit here? Would like to know as I'm almost ready to pull the trigger but thought I should ask this first. Thanks!!!

In regards to the TGC software, I know that the steam version can be downloaded to test without Skytrak integration- but is there any way we can have a demo of the integrated version? Even if it were just a short one like 24 hours or 2 rounds or something. It sounds like several forum users are comfortable and jumping right in but for me $1,000 is a significant cost and it would be really nice to demo before moving forward. Perhaps I am alone in this but thought I'd share the opinion.

You are definitely not alone but it does not seem like that is Pro Tee's business model to offer demo software. Looking at how easily people were abusing the E6 demo with simple hacks, I cannot blame Pro Tee for staying away from that.

Is it possible to "return" the Steam version if we play and test before buying the full software/Skytrak version?

How long has everyone had to wait for the download/activation email to arrive after completing the purchase?Last edited by jrz; 02-22-2016, 10:07 PM.

I'm sure it is posted somewhere in the forum (of course I can't find it), but would someone please so kind as to post a link to a list of decent TGC courses?

On the topic of course lists, I see the following on Skytrak's website: "INTERNET CONNECTION IS RECOMMENDED AS OFFLINE PLAY IS LIMITED" So is there a list somewhere of which courses are available offline?
-
No this list is not available. We will change the available courses in offline mode very soon. This mode is intended to be used as backup when your internet is down. We do not recommend to use TGC without internet. Everything is cloud based.

Since I slipped through the cracks the automated email is bypassing me. Seth was kind enough to send code.......but code doesnt work.
Sucks being me!

Protee, How long in general has it been taking to send out the license keys after registering? Hasn't been real long for me yet (about 30 min) but just wondering so I know if I did something wrong and have to re-do. Thanks

There are 2 parts of the ordering process. First part is the actual order, order confirmation, payment and instruction email with activation code. This part is handled by SkyGolf. No idea how long this should take. The second part is where you register the software using the activation code with us. This part could take upto 12 hours (usually MUCH faster). We have been providing license keys almost instant today. However its past midnight here right now so we really need to get some sleep. We will then start sending new keys in approx 7 hours from now.
