  • SkyTrak and The Golf Club (TGC) Simulation Software

    Hi Seth. I'm new to this forum but have been reading as much as I can about SkyTrak on this and other forums. It seems that many experienced sim users think that The Golf Club game is the best simulator software out there right now. In fact, if I'm understanding and remembering things correctly, Bubba22 and Zmax were instrumental (please correct me if I'm wrong) in getting ProTee to integrate their sim hardware (and gc2) with The Golf Club software. So my question to you/SkyTrak is simply this: Has there been any thought to integrating SkyTrak with The Golf Club? And if so, what are the odds that this might happen? And if so, when?

    TGC + Skytrak, for all the delays, bugs (real and imagined), when its dialed in and working its a ton of fun. I had 2 shots not register in the first 9 holes. Other than that, accuracy was great.
    Great video, thanks for sharing. Been wanting to see something like this instead of just the screen capture only videos. Gives me a much better idea of how Skytrak and TGC play together. Should be fantastic once the little bugs are worked out.

      Nice shoes man! But cool video, it is too bad about the delay.

  • Nice video, seemed to play well with ST. I wish my video camera was as good in low light.

    • Can someone comment on the delay in Shardak's video? It's around 5 seconds by my count. Is this because of the laptop GPU or is it more of a Skytrak/TGC thing? The delay on my iPhone 6s and the Skytrak app is only 3 seconds. I'm planning on putting together a pretty powerful gaming PC, will that alleviate the delay some? Can someone with a gtx 960,970, etc comment on their experience so far with the delay? Or would the CPU be the more important hardware to minimize that? I could live with the 5 seconds easily, but 2 or 3 would be even better.

        Using TGC, I have about 3 seconds with a gtx770 card and an i5 3570k. Not sure why he's at or over 5 sec.

    • Vincent_Vega I have a pretty powerful computer - GTX 980 ti and pretty good processor. I feel like my delay is less than 3 seconds with TGC & Skytrak, but I have not really timed it. Will try to do that later today and update.

        Ok, did some timing. From the moment of impact to when TGC starts showing the shot tracer, the delay is between 3 - 4 seconds. But if I start counting after I fully hit and start to look up, it is under 3 seconds. This is Skytrak connected vis USB. Haven't tried wifi. And TGC is running 1280 x 1024 at High, though I don't think it matters as earlier I had it running at 1920 x 1080 at high and was experiencing similar timings.

    • Could be connection ... Bluetooth vs Usb, If that's it..... people should hook up to USB3 if possible. My cameras are usb 2 but never worked 100% of the time until I put a usb3 card in my computer.

        • I have just tested TGC shot delay, USB vs Wifi. There is no difference.

          USB = 4.7 second average
          Wifi = 4.8 second average

          That is within my margin of error of hitting start/stop on my stopwatch.

          I messed around with TGC settings, running it from 640x480 Low up to 1600x1200 Medium, both fullscreen vs windowed...none of those changes made any difference to shot delay either.

          The skytrak range is about 1 second faster....3.7 second delay.

          Edit: This is running TGC on a 2015 Macbook Pro. This macbook is extremely fast and powerful, except for the GPU. I do have a powerful gaming PC in my office...if I could figure out a solution to pipe the video from the office into the projector in the garage, and get some kind of long-range wireless mouse/keyboard, maybe I could get a better experience with TGC running it on a PC. Anyone running it like this? With a PC in another room? I am pretty sure I cannot get an HDMI cable that long...

            @Sharkdak I checked out your youtube video. Seriously crazy stuff. I have the exact 4x5 CC Elite mat. Almost identical systems. Anyhow, you might look Into a wireless HD transmitter. They're not cheap, but I believe it would accomplish what you're trying to do. I know BenQ has a compatible device that works specifically with the 1085ST. Gets great reviews & claims to have better distance than some of the other brands carried by the big box stores. I believe most smart phones have wireless mouse apps, that also have embedded keyboard options. I've run a few off my iPhone and they work exceptionally well. I'm looking forward to giving Mike80's TGC iPad app a run! Very cool stuff!

            I have my computer in my house and I think i run a 25' hdmi cable to the garage. You can get them longer as well. I'm in the middle of changing my setup and will need to go to a longer HDMI cable, i think possibly 50', we'll see.

            Guest. Wow. Pretty lengthy. I've heard of some cat5 stuff beyond 25 feet, but a 50' hdmi cable might be the ticket. Lots of debate over the cost of wiring. I'm personally on the fence. A quality cable of that length might be counterproductive. Cost for cost. The wireless alternatives don't look so bad. I do know folks who build their own cables/wires. It comes down to what makes you happy in the end. I've spent too much money on this stuff already. I wanna be pleased in the end. You people have cost me a fortune already!!!

        • ProTee United I submitted my request for the rebate via email about a week ago. Looking back I see the part about 30 days after purchase. Do I need to submit again after 30 days? Haven't heard anything back from my original email. Thanks.

            The SkyTrak will work fine outdoors, but the TGC setup not so much.

            I have mine in our garage, where the only lighting is an overhead fluorescent at 10' high. With a 3,000 lumen projector ($500+), it is way too washed out. Unless you're paying $2k for a 1080P, 5000-6000 lumen projector, it won't be visible outdoors.

            I will likely mount a couple spotlights to aim at my hitting area, but keeping the screen dark. It will be infinitely more enjoyable that way.

            If you're planning on hitting into a net and just looking at a laptop or something, that would work outdoors if you're in the shade with a decently bright laptop.

            you could always join the small but steadfast contingent of us building outdoor simulators...

            There are some beautiful sim room build outs done by forum members - I've really enjoyed looking through all the different approaches. With 2 young kids, I decided

        • Many people have reported using ST at the range to validate distances, so I don't see a problem. Might only be an issue if you are in heavy sunlight.

            It moves the text boxes in from the border. I actually used this to get them clear of my over scan.

            Ok thanks! Was wondering what that setting was.

        • Anyone notice wedges going further than normal? Having trouble dialing in. Hitting my PW 140-145 and gap 130 -135 and S 120 - 125. When I was younger this was typical but that was years ago. I'm 40 now. Going to the course tomorrow to see reality.

            Thanks for following up on that! Sounds like everyone with a sufficiently powerful gaming PC has a more reasonable delay.

            • Have been thinking about getting the TGC but dont have a powerful desktop to run it, was wondering if anyone has tried running it on a I5 Yoga .. Or what would the minimum specs that would still run it and not cost a fortune? Any suggestions would be appreciated

                i5 yoga isn't going to cut it. It has integrated graphics. I tried running it from Steam quite a while ago on my Yoga 2 Pro, and it was a disaster.

            • Played two rounds in the qualifying yesterday and I didn't have a single phantom shot. WOOHOO! Also the irons seemed to be flying properly. Had just one shot that seemed a little long, but that's possible. I was using my old set of clubs with my old driver and the shot shapes were perfect "unfortunately" :-). Hit less than 5 straight ones :-(. One more qualifying round and I'm done!
