  • Perfect Golf (beta) for Skytrak

Perfect Golf might look like a great game but has way too many bugs, even for an early access game still under development. It has a very long way to go before it can be mentioned in the same sentence as TGC, E6, ProTee and Red Chain. There is no AI, no stats, no tournament play and online play servers crash frequently. It currently has 10 courses and no stable (commercially) released version.

Price is unknown, but keep in mind you will be buying a beta product.

  • Quoting from a forum entry related to PG (dated February 12, 2016):

CourseForge is still in private beta, a public beta version of it will released soon. It's a Unity editor extension and will require a version of the unity editor.

    • Now this has piqued my interest, and doing some reading. Really interesting background on Andrew Jones and Perfect Golf. Worth seeking out for the full story. But I'll just add this in here to round out what the OP mentioned:

What is in store for Perfect Golf fans in terms of tournaments, career modes and additional content?

Lots… Additional content will probably come first. Our goal is to get to 10 courses by the time of Retail Release so the retail game will come with 10 courses. Through our TV deals we have every course on the PGA Tour built and its just a case of working through whether we want to license those courses. We actually have over 70 courses built for the game already.

In addition we are anticipating some really new content to come via our relationship with Nicklaus Design. Then of course there will be the release of Course Forge along with th Retail game which will open up the ability to build courses to the community which will see an explosive growth in the number of courses and content for the game. The exact revenue model around that has not been finalized yet but Course Forge will definitely NOT be a paid add on. We will be developing a career mode in due course.

      • Good thing no sim option will be released by the time my course opens up this spring. I plan on waiting for PG. I just saved over 1G!

        • Sounds like this may be a good option.. Does anyone know if this will have the ability to slide your center line (to accommodate offset setups)?

          • I'm waiting as well, for PG next year, as it seems now we're getting some warmer weather coming in (upper Midwest, near Chicago), and I may even get to play on a course this weekend... anyway, it's way to close to outdoor golf season starting, for me to even consider ALL of the work I will need to do to get my simulator up, but I've got it in the back of my head, and I'll be playing the PG, and TGC game versions of the software as I wait....

It came thru social.perfectparallel site. On the left side menu is the season pass link that seems to be live.

Even if you paid for that, I don't think they're charging the cards yet.

would you mind taking a bunch of screenies explaining how you found that on Steam? I been in there for like 45 minutes searching for the option to buy a season pass. Cant find it, it is as simple as that.

              • I tried to take one for the team and purchase the season pass. While the Steam site seemed to process my transaction I could not apply the credit to activate the Perfect Golf Simulator Pass. Has anyone else had a different experience?

I joined up tonight and asked to be a beta tester but was told I was one day too late and would have to wait now for the commercial version, but could still sign up for the tour. So will do that and wait for the commercial version to get released and maybe play pc version to figure out the game a little

I don't think the season pass is valid at this time. Once the game is released to the public, I believe the season pass will be available to purchase.

                • Don't believe they are accepting any more beta testers at the moment. However the game is quite a lot of fun to play, plays very realistically and the real winner is going to be the consumer as the landscape is changing and there are really great options in the works for skytrak owners from all the major apps. It will be personal preference but I'm going with Perfect Golf. I don't think you can go wrong though they are all a blast to play.

Indeed that is what they told me, glad to see you made it in in time. Glad to hear the game rocks, now my appetite is really whetted, need to get my game in shape in the next 5 weeks so I don't suck outdoors in Scottsdale like I usually do after not hitting a ball for 5 to 6 months. .

On that note, I am starting to feel (well sort of, from a golf swing perspective only) like I did when I was 16 and played 36 holes a day all summer in that I am no longer thinking about my swing because I am hitting so many balls, and hitting them relatively well. Whereas in recent years, with kids growing up and such, I have been limited to 10 rounds or so per year, so never had any consistency.

                    Golf simulators rock!

Thanks! It's nice to be wanted.

                • How's the short chipping? Can you putt from off the green?

Short chips all register without an issue. You can putt from green and fairway. If you look at my video lower right is a putter icon. You can select this on the fairway if you wanted to putt. And the shots register.

                • You played hole really well Ryan woulda preferred to watch the outtakes though :-)
Another thing I like is how the ball leaves a pitch mark when it lands on the green if the descent characteristics warrant it. Gameplay is very good.

I only broke 2 clubs in the making of that video.

                • Have been looking around and am still not sure if this will work well with Mac. Have Yosemite Compute wise, Late 2012 iMac 3.4 Ghz Intel Core i7 24 GB 1600 Mhz DDR3 NVIDIA GeForce GTX 675MX 1024

This will be a big part of my final decision on to get this or TGC because if I can get away with playing PG with my iMac which will save me from having to buy a PC I will never use except to play this game then PG will be my choice.

I have been playing it on my iMac 3.2 GHz Intel Core i5 32 GB 1600 MHz DDR3 NVIDIA GeForce GT 755M 1024 MB with zero issues. Install Steam, pay the $20, and try it out. I would bet you will be just fine with medium settings.

Downloaded the game and it works, but very obvious even at Max resolution, my graphics card is not good enough to show the level of detail I would like to have (has a blurry look to it), but the game does run smoothly. I have to assume its the graphics card and not the iMac monitor I have (its not a retina display). Also, I cannot get a full screen (have the dreaded black bars on each side of the screen). If this is the best I can get it then I will have to decide if it is enough for me or if I will have to bite the bullet and go get a PC that is strong enough to get the maximum output of this game.
                Working...
